Miramax Picks Up the Rights to Amy Taylor's Upcoming Novel RUINS to Make Film Set to Star Vanessa Kirby & Sebastian Stan — GeekTyrant
In a competitive bidding war, Miramax has won the rights to author Amy Taylor's upcoming second novel, Ruins , with Oscar nominees and longtime friends Vanessa Kirby and Sebastian Stan attached to headline and produce. The story follows a couple whose affair with a young Greek woman over the course of a summer in Athens threatens to crack their relationship open in a story about privilege and power, desire and intimacy. Taylor's first hit novel was Search History in 2023. Ruins is set to be released in the U.S. on August 12th, and Allen & Unwin will publish in Australia and New Zealand on July 1st. James Gunn's Superman reboot is shaping up to be a fresh start with a lived-in world, and thanks to a new interview with Fandango, we now know exactly how long Clark Kent has been flying around as the Man of Steel in this new DC Universe… three years. Gunn gave fans a little more insight into what to expect from Superman and how it fits into the larger universe he's building, saying: 'We're introducing a whole new world, which is a lot of fun. We're in an alternate reality where superheroes have existed for 300 years, and now we're just picking up on the story of one particular superhero three years after he comes on the scene, who happens to be the most powerful metahuman of all time.' So, David Corenswet's Clark Kent has already been suiting up for a while before the story kicks off. This isn't another crash-to-Earth, learn-to-fly origin tale. Gunn's Superman drops us into a DCU where the character's superhero duties are already part of the daily routine. This gives the a lot of room to play with other heroes and conflicts from the get-go. This also sets Gunn's film apart from most past Superman debuts. The last time we met a new cinematic Superman who didn't need to walk us through the origin again was in 2006's Superman Returns with Brandon Routh. Superman hits theaters on July 11, and I actually love that Gunn is giving us a DC Universe already up and running, with Superman three years deep into helping people.
