CPI (M) wants Centre to hold discussions with Maoists as positive atmosphere is prevailing

The Hindu14-05-2025

The CPI (Marxist) has requested the Central Government to hold discussions with CPI (Maoist) as a positive atmosphere is prevailing in the country at present.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) polit bureau member B.V. Raghavulu said the ongoing Operation Kagar had been stopped temporarily and it was time the Government took the initiative to hold discussions with them. 'Maoists themselves have evinced keenness to hold discussions,' he recalled.
Mr. Raghavulu's request comes at a time when the ongoing Operation Kagar in Karregutta region on Telangana and Chhattisgarh borders had been temporarily halted in view of the escalating tensions on the India-Pakistan borders. 'It is time to hold discussions with Maoists and the Government can clarify its conditions during the meeting,' he said.
The CPI (Marxist) senior leader's comments assume significance as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy assured that the State government was prepared to appoint a Peace Committee for deliberations with the Maoists. Stressing the need for a national level debate on Operation Kagar, the Chief Minister said recently the government would announce its policy on the matter after the Congress finalises its stand on Operation Kagar.
Mr. Revanth Reddy was, however, firm that the Congress always viewed the naxalite problem as a social issue not just a law and order one.
Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka too wanted a halt to Operation Kagar and requested the Centre to hold discussions with the Maoists instead. There was a need to create a peaceful environment in central India and other Maoist affected States and the Governments should act constitutionally respecting the special rights and administrative arrangements in tribal areas under Schedule V of the Constitution, she said.

Rajnath hails PM Modi's 11-yr tenure as era of unprecedented development

New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday lauded the 11-year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it a period of "unprecedented development" and "epoch-making political, social, and economic transformations." Highlighting India's growing self-reliance in the defence sector, Singh credited PM Modi's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat for empowering the country to stand confidently among the world's top five economies. 'India today stands well-equipped, confident, and unwavering in its resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs,' he said in a series of tweets on social media platform X. Reflecting on the broader impact of the last decade, Singh stated, 'These 11 Years of Seva have been a story of the realisation of the dreams of our freedom fighters and Constitution makers—who envisioned a democracy that is not just political, but also social and economic in nature.' He emphasised that under PM Modi's dynamic leadership, India is not merely progressing, but rising to claim its 'rightful place in the comity of nations.' Singh also congratulated every citizen who has contributed to this transformative journey, stating, 'Together, we move forward—stronger, prouder, and united.' Enumerating the key achievements of the Modi government, the Defence Minister pointed to initiatives that have enhanced the ease of living for citizens and ease of doing business for entrepreneurs. From women empowerment to farmers' welfare, Singh said, the administration has worked with a 'focused and committed effort to uplift and strengthen every section of society.' He cited flagship welfare schemes such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Ayushman Bharat, and Ujjwala Yojana as historic initiatives that have ensured dignity, health, and empowerment for millions of the poorest of the poor. 'Alongside, the massive expansion in physical infrastructure—from highways to railways, from smart cities to digital connectivity—and the strengthening of human resources in healthcare and education have laid the foundation for a new India,' the Defence Minister said. 'Should China-Nehru link be investigated?': BJP MP Nishikant Dubey slams Rahul Gandhi; asks if 1962 war was 'imposed'

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey (left) and Rahul Gandhi/ File photos NEW DELHI: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Monday intensified his criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi , calling for a probe into the alleged historic links between the Nehru-Gandhi family and China. His demand stemmed from what he described as "revelations" found in declassified documents from the 1961 Belgrade Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). In a sharply worded X post shared on Monday, Dubey took aim at India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru , questioning his foreign policy choices during the formative years of the Cold War. 'Rahul Baba, do you know that at China's behest, your family's patriarch Nehru ji created the new gimmick of non-aligned countries? Look at the member countries of the first conference in Belgrade in 1961. After isolating India from both Russia and America, did any country come to India's defence during or after the 1962 war with China?' Dubey asked. — nishikant_dubey (@nishikant_dubey) The BJP MP went on to allege that the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), championed by Nehru, eventually "benefited" China rather than serving India's strategic interests. Citing the 26th declaration adopted at the Belgrade Summit, Dubey argued that the text revealed Nehru's alignment with Chinese interests. 'Tibet to China, Panchsheel for China, and after making China a permanent member of the United Nations, this conference ordered the UN to recognise China as the sole representative state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo By siding with China, did your family impose the 1962 war on India or not?' he said. He followed up with a pointed query directed at Rahul Gandhi: 'Should the relationship between China and the Nehru family be investigated?' The 1961 Belgrade Summit was the inaugural meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement — a coalition of states aiming to stay independent from both the Western and Soviet power blocs. Nehru was a key architect in shaping the principles and objectives of the movement. This is not the first time Dubey has targeted the Congress leadership. He previously accused the Nehru-Gandhi family of compromising India's interests in relation to Pakistan, particularly citing the Indus Waters Treaty. He had also flagged India's financial commitments to Pakistan under the treaty, claiming they were the result of Congress-era policies that weakened India diplomatically.

11 years of Modi government: Congress hits out at BJP; calls its regime at Centre 'dictatorship'

NEW DELHI: As Bharatiya Janata Party completed 11 years at the Centre, Congress took the opportunity to recount the 'shortcomings' of the central government. Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP and the RSS of undermining constitutional institutions termed the saffron party's regime a "dictatorship". "The Modi government has wasted the last 11 years in rubbing the ink of dictatorship on every page of the Constitution!" Kharge said. "BJP-RSS weakened every constitutional institution and attacked their autonomy. Whether it was stealing public opinion and toppling governments through the back door or forcibly imposing one-party dictatorship. During this period, the rights of the states were ignored and the federal structure was weakened," he added. He further accused the Centre of "weakening the democracy, economy and social fabric." "There are continuous efforts to spread hatred, threats and fear in the society. The exploitation of Dalits, tribals, backward, minority and weaker sections has increased continuously. The conspiracy to deprive them of reservation and equal rights continues. The unending violence in Manipur is the biggest proof of the administrative failure of the BJP," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo "BJP-RSS made the country's GDP growth rate habituated to 5-6%, which used to be 8% on average during UPA. Instead of the promise of 2 crore jobs every year, crores of jobs were taken away from the youth. Due to inflation, public savings were the lowest in 50 years and economic inequality was the highest in 100 years," he added. He also addressed the demonetisation, GST and the Covid lockdown situation which hit the unorganised sector directly. "Demonetisation, wrong GST, unplanned lock-down and by hammering the unorganised sector, the future of crores of people was ruined. Make in India, Startup India, Stand up India, Digital India, Namami Gange, 100 SMART Cities all failed. Railways were ruined. Only the ribbons of the infrastructure built by Congress-UPA were cut," he said. 'Why is PM Modi avoiding presser?' Questioning the central government's decision to send BJP president JP Nadda to address a press conference on the completion of 11 years of Modi regime, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "why is the Prime Minister still avoiding it? Is he still taking time to memorise the questions and answers? Or are such 'favourable' faces being searched who will ask questions, but in a completely obedient posture? Or is Bharat Mandapam not fully ready yet?" "Yesterday, we had given an open challenge to the Prime Minister to hold an unscripted and unprescribed Q&A press conference for the first time on the occasion of his completion of 11 years in power. But today BJP President JP Nadda has come forward, who has been sent to talk to the press at 12 noon, so that the 'achievements' of these 11 years can be trumpeted," he said.
