Boardwalk Empire actor Michael Pitt has been arrested in New York on sexual abuse charges.
Pitt was arrested May 2. Charges against him include two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, assault injury with a blunt object, and second-degree strangulation. The charges stem from four alleged domestic disputes involving his ex-girlfriend that occurred between April 2020 and August 2021, according to the New York Post.
Pitt pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. He was released after posting $15,000 bail, the Post reported. He's slated to appear in court June 17.
Attorney Jason Goldman told The Independent: 'Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt — an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes — can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual. In reality, this baseless claim is suspiciously raised some four or five years after the alleged incident, at a time when the two parties were in a completely consensual and voluntary relationship. This case will be dismissed."
In the four separate incidents, Pitt allegedly sexually assaulted and attacked his ex-girlfriend with a cement block and chunk of wood at his Brooklyn home, according to records obtained by the Post. He then allegedly strangled her in August 2021.
Pitt was previously arrested in 2022 and hit with assault and petty larceny charges for allegedly hitting a man and taking his cell phone.
He was reportedly hospitalized later that year after throwing items at people from the roof of a building, according to the Post.
In addition to his work on Boardwalk Empire, Pitt is known for playing Henry Parker on 15 episodes of Dawson's Creek between 1999 and 2000. His film credits include Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Dreamers, and Last Days. He also appeared in Ghost in the Shell opposite Scarlett Johansson.

OceanGate's Titan Submersible Was Almost Featured on 'Expedition Unknown' in 2021
"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Josh Gates, host of Discovery Channel's Expedition Unknown, is no stranger to danger. Since its premiere in 2015 on the Travel Channel, Gates has been traversing the planet, exploring remote jungles, ancient ruins, and yes, deep-sea wrecks. Some of the most dangerous places he's ventured include the hazardous waters of Myanmar's Irrawaddy River and surviving fields of landmines in Cambodia. However, one of his most harrowing experiences remained unseen until just weeks ago. In the HBO documentary Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster, Gates visited OceanGate's testing facilities in Washington state to take a test dive on the Titan in Puget Sound with the intent of filming a second segment on another dive down to the Titanic wreckage site. But everything went wrong on that visit. As Rush walked Gates through OceanGate's hangar, Gates described him in the present day interview as a 'car salesman,' remarking that he had a rehearsed answer for everything. But that wasn't the case when they were underwater. Even though the submersible didn't even go more than a few feet under Puget Sound, accompanied by a diver equipped with full scuba apparatus, Rush lost control of the submersible's computers, and he struggled to provide any concrete answers to either Gates or his team members, instead just scribbling around on a piece of paper. And for anyone who has watched years and years of Expedition Unknown, viewers saw something they had never seen before: Gates's face looked ashen. 'Stockton seemed completely unaware of how bad this dive had gone from our perspective,' he says. The submersible returned to the surface within a few minutes, but Gates appeared to have made up his mind about the entire venture already. Before the dive, Gates made an offhand comment to Rush about how being sealed into the submersible from the outside was a bit concerning, delivering the line with a nervous laugh that seemed meant to lighten the mood. Rush laughed too and replied, 'Yes, you're my prisoner.' In that moment, during the 2021 recording, Gates glanced toward the camera, his expression uneasy. 'Stockton just didn't see, even psychologically, the need for a way out of this sub,' Gates says. Longtime viewers of Expedition Unknown watching the documentary were likely wondering why they didn't remember this episode or immediately trying to find it online. There's a reason why they didn't remember it: The episode never aired. Gates says he recognized the implications of making a promotional documentary about Rush and OceanGate. 'So I made the really difficult decision to call up the president of the network and to fall on my sword and say, 'I'm really sorry. I know that money's been spent here. I know that this is something that was a big deal for you to sign off on, and I appreciate the opportunity, but we shouldn't do this. This is a mistake, something bad is going to happen here,'' Gates says. On June 18, 2023, the Titan submersible, operated by OceanGate Expeditions, imploded during a dive to the Titanic wreck site in the North Atlantic, killing all five aboard, including Rush. The vessel lost communication approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes into its descent. After a five-day international search, debris was found about 1,600 feet from the Titanic's bow, confirming the implosion. Investigations revealed that Titan's unconventional carbon-fiber hull had faced prior safety concerns, and the submersible lacked independent certification. The U.S. Coast Guard continues to investigate the incident. You Might Also Like 12 Weekend Getaway Spas For Every Type of Occasion 13 Beauty Tools to Up Your At-Home Facial Game

Brad Pitt discusses the power of being with 'people that love you back'
Brad Pitt is opening up about a few important life lessons he's learned. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the "F1" premiere in Mexico City this week, the actor reflected on where he is now after recently telling GQ that he feels "contained" and "secure" in this chapter of his life. When asked what brought him to this point, Pitt said, "No matter the mistake, you know, you just learn from it and move on. It'll lead to the next success." He added, "I think you get to my age and see how important it is to surround yourself with the people you know, the people you love, the people that love you back. Friends, family and that's it. From there, we get to go make things. It's a pretty simple … equation." Pitt stars as a former driver making a return to the racing world in the upcoming Apple Studios film "F1." He teams up with Damson Idris, who plays his teammate on the fictional APXGP team, according to a press release. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for big-screen hits like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Oblivion," both starring Tom Cruise. When asked during the interview if the experience ever made him feel like he could be a real Formula 1 driver, Pitt replied, "If I was a little bit younger, I would have taken that turn, I think so." "It's so sublime. It's a feeling I've never had, to experience downforce, to experience the way these cars can stick to the road around a high speed corner, it's staggering," he said. "It's awesome." In his GQ interview last month, Pitt spoke candidly about life in the public eye. "My personal life is always in the news," he said at the time. "It's been in the news for 30 years, bro. Or some version of my personal life, let's put it that way." He described fame as a lingering distraction he's learned to live with. "It's been an annoyance I've had to always deal with in different degrees, large and small, as I do the things I really want to do," he continued. So, it's always been this kind of nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that, I don't know." Still, Pitt said he's reached a place of peace. "My life is fairly contained," he added. "It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my fam, with my knowledge of who I am, that, you know, it's like this fly buzzing around a little bit."

'Haptic Trailer' For Brad Pitt's 'F1' Lets You Feel The Race On iPhone
In the movie "F1" Brad Pitt, shown opposite Damson Idris, is a Formula One racer who gets another ... More chance to prove himself. Want to feel what it's like to be Brad Pitt as a Formula One driver tearing around a racetrack? Apple has released a 'haptic trailer' for the upcoming racing film F1 that brings racing sensations to iPhones. The trailer leverages the phone's Taptic Engine to deliver vibrations that sync with the onscreen action as Pitt straps in for some high-speed shenanigans. Apple promises that viewers will 'experience the power of the engines, the rumble of the curbs and the intensity of every gear shift like never before with responsive vibrations.' That makes the haptic trailer sound more dramatic than it actually is, but the revs and roars are still a fun, novel way to draw interest for the film and demonstrate another way technology is making entertainment experiences more multisensory. The trailer works on iPhones 18.4 or later. F1, out in theaters June 27 from Apple Original Films, stars Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a fictional Formula One prodigy in the 1990s who has to retire due to a crash and now lives in a van and gambles his life away. In the film, a former teammate played by Javier Bardiem convinces Hayes to return to Formula 1 to save a struggling team and get the chance to prove he's still got it. I think we all know where this one's headed. 'As the engines roar, Sonny's past catches up with him and he finds that in Formula 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition, and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone,' reads a description of the film directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick, who also directed Tron: Legacy. Apple premiered the haptic trailer during this week's 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference. There, the company announced, among other things, its next iPhone operating software, iOS 26, which promises to screen scam calls and hold your place in the dreaded phone waiting line when you're stuck on hold. F1 features several F1 drivers including Lewis Hamilton in addition to starring Pitt, Bardiem, Damson Idris and Irish actor Kerry Condon, who gives Pitt's character a tough talking to in the trailer. 'They saying Sonny Hayes isn't a has-been,' she tells him. 'He's a never was.' Gauntlet thrown! Apple first introduced haptics to the iPhone in 2015 with a tiny motorized actuator that delivers subtle tactile sensations to confirm actions like toggling a switch or unlocking a device with Face ID and also provide discreet notifications when a phone's on silent. Last year, Apple released a number of accessibility features for iPhone users, including Music Haptics, which uses the Taptic Engine to layer synchronized sensations onto audio so those with hearing loss can get a more immersive listening experience. Feel the need for speed but don't have an iPhone? Here's a non-haptic version of the F1 trailer.
