BEAVER DAM, Wis. - The Amber Alert for 16-year-old Sophia Franklin of Beaver Dam has been canceled. Police say she has been found safe near Omaha, Nebraska. An Arkansas man who was with the missing and pregnant teen, Gary Day, has been taken into custody.

The Beaver Dam Police Department was notified on Wednesday, April 2, around 11:40 p.m. that deputies in Nebraska responded to a tip of a possible sighting of Sophia Franklin near Omaha.
Law enforcement made contact with Franklin, who was with Gary Day. Franklin was taken to a secure facility to await reunification with her family. Day was taken into custody.

The Beaver Dam police chief tells FOX6 News that Day and Franklin were at a truck stop with a man who gave them a ride when the tip was reported.
According to the chief, while Day and Franklin were at the truck stop, another truck pulled up with a man and a woman inside. The man and woman said they saw a pregnant girl with two men and didn't feel right.
The two talked with Sophia briefly before going back and comparing pictures of Day to what he looked like in-person, then reported it to 911.

Court records show Gary Day was charged in Dodge County with two counts of child abduction and two counts of child enticement. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

A criminal complaint states Franklin and Day began talking online in April 2024. Day came to Wisconsin, picked up Franklin and took her to Arkansas. She was thought to still be in the Beaver Dam area for months until police in Arkansas found her. She returned home last year.
Then, court filings state Franklin's parents came across a conversation in late January while using a computer. Investigators believe that conversation was between Franklin and Day, and there was a fight.
There was also mention that Day was on probation in Arkansas for an abuse conviction, and said he stayed out past curfew and that his ankle monitor was flashing.

LA County deputies searching for missing children last seen with their father
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department asked for help finding two siblings who were allegedly abducted by their father last week. The two kids, Juaquin, 11, and Aastha Vides, 8, were last seen with their father, Juaquin Vides Sr., on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. in the 1000 block of W. 88th Street in South Los Angeles. Vides Sr. and his kids were last seen in a 2012 green Mazda 2 with stickers on the rear driver's side and the license plate number 9DRV087. Deputies believe suspect Sylvia Gonzalez, 53, was driving the family to the Bay Area, specifically San Jose. Investigators said Vides Sr. is 35 years old, stands about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs around 220 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He is deaf and mute. Gonzalez is 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 233 pounds, with gray hair and hazel eyes. Juaquin Vides is 3 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 49 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt with a yellow stripe. Aastha Vides is 3 feet and 6 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a green T-shirt with white flowers. Babysitter is a suspect after 3 young children go missing in California, authorities say
California officials are searching for a babysitter who allegedly abducted three young children, issuing an Amber Alert Sunday, two days after the children were last seen. Constance Franks, 55, and three young children whom she was babysitting were last seen around 7:30 p.m., according to the Inglewood Police Department.
