Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will hold a news conference at 6 p.m. ET in Kerrville on the state's response to the flood devastation, according to a news release from the governor's office.
Abbott will also receive a briefing on the state's response.
Prior to the briefing and news conference, he and Dustin Burrows, speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, will take an aerial tour to survey the damages caused by the floods and visit Camp Mystic.
Abbott said Monday that more than 20 state agencies are responding to flooding across Texas. Additionally, 1,750 personnel and more than 975 vehicles and other assets have been deployed, the governor said in a statement.
Tactical and law enforcement personnel from the Department of Public Safety are also assisting, the governor said.

Title: Drier weather expected in central Texas today through the end of the week

The forecast in central Texas looks like it will be much drier today than the past several days.
A handful of showers and thunderstorms could dot the region this afternoon, but these storms aren't likely to present much of a flood threat. A similar setup is possible Wednesday. Thursday and Friday should be dry and mostly sunny in the region.
Despite the region forecast to finally dry out, some rivers may rise even after the rain fully stops.
The Llano River has risen several feet since yesterday morning and was nearly at minor flood stage by the mid-afternoon. The San Saba River is forecast to hit minor flood stage this afternoon.
Much of the Guadalupe River has returned back closer to normal levels and is not currently forecast to flood again in the coming days.

EF0 tornado briefly touches down in Annapolis
A waterspout was spotted over Spa Creek in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis on Thursday evening. On Friday, the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that the waterspout passed briefly as an EF0 tornado over the Severn Sailing Association marina. According to the NWS, a witness watched as the waterspout moved ashore and over the marina, blowing over multiple trailered and small boats in the parking area. Videos from social media captured near the Route 450 bridge showed the tornado spinning from the shoreline to the mouth of the river, moving west to east. It then disappeared before reaching land on the opposite side of the river. No additional damage was reported. A Flash Flood Watch was in effect for most of the Baltimore region, including Howard County, until early Friday morning. Storms brought severe damage to multiple communities. In Mt. Airy, a 13-year-old boy drowned after being swept into an outdoor drainage pipe. Meanwhile, in Harford County, two people were rescued from floodwaters at the Pulaski Highway and Baltimore County line. "Numerous people have been rescued from flood waters as a result. Fortunately, there have been no injuries," the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company said. "Do not attempt to drive or cross flooded roads or sidewalks. Turn around, don't drown." Additionally, an ambulance and at least one vehicle crashed in the Joppa area and were leaning on the side of the road on Mountain Road and Greenspring Avenue.

Maryland Set for Cool, Comfortable Weekend Before Midweek Rain Chances Return
A refreshing stretch of weather is setting up across Maryland as we head into the weekend, bringing sunshine, low humidity and seasonably mild temperatures. Skies will clear tonight, allowing temperatures to dip to near 60 degrees across much of the region. Some of the typically cooler spots, especially north and west of Baltimore, could fall into the upper 50s by early Saturday morning. The weekend itself will feature nearly ideal summer conditions. Both Saturday and Sunday will bring plenty of sunshine with highs near 80 degrees. Humidity levels will remain low, making for comfortable afternoons and cool nights. Lows both nights will hover near 60 degrees, with patchy areas dipping into the 50s. These pleasant conditions will hold into the start of next week. Monday looks sunny once again with highs close to 80, while Tuesday brings increasing clouds. Despite the added cloud cover, the forecast remains dry through Tuesday evening. By Wednesday, however, the pattern begins to change. Rain chances return midweek and could persist into Friday. While it is too early to pinpoint exact rainfall amounts, multiple days of unsettled weather are possible, which could provide a much-needed soaking for parts of the region that have been running drier over the past several weeks. Even with the clouds and potential showers, temperatures will stay seasonably mild. Highs throughout the week will remain steady near 80 degrees, with overnight lows holding in the 60s. This stretch marks a welcome break from the persistent heat and humidity typical of early August. For many across Maryland, the weekend offers a taste of late-summer comfort before a wetter pattern sets in later next week.

Lions Lake to be drained in Warrensburg; anglers can remove as many fish as possible
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has authorized an Emergency Fish Salvage Order for Lions Lake in Johnson County, Missouri. The order is in effect now through Aug. 31. Missouri 'Back-to-School' sales tax holiday returns Aug. 1-3 The city of Warrensburg, which owns Lions Lake, wants to deepen the lake and develop more walking paths around the area. That will require the water to be completely drained, according to MDC. The Emergency Fish Salvage Order will enable anglers to remove as many fish as possible before the lake is drained to minimize waste. During the order, anglers may take all species of fish from the lake – excluding endangered species listed in . There is also a temporary suspension of fishing methods restrictions on Lions Lake, MDC said. In addition to fishing methods already authorized for the lake, the order enables anglers to take fish by the following methods during hours when Lions Lake is open: gig, atlatl, underwater spearfishing, bow, crossbow, snagging, grabbing, dip net, throw net, seine, and by hand. These temporary parameters apply only to Lions Lake in Johnson County. All other permit, season and limit requirements will remain in effect. Anglers between the ages of 16 and 65 must still hold a valid Missouri Fishing Permit to fish at the lake. The eight-acre area is closed to the public from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. unless users are actively fishing. Boats are allowed with trolling motors or no motors. The lake is located in Warrensburg at the junction of South Maguire Street/Route DD (Hale Lake Road). Take Route DD (Hale Lake Road) west 0.75 miles, then take Rotary Drive north 0.33 miles.
