Dorset Police volunteer police officer defied orders
A volunteer police officer who "threatened" supermarket workers despite him being ordered not to act as one would have been sacked had he not quit.Barrie Leigh-Anderson was told by senior Dorset Police officers not to act as a special constable on 7 September 2023 but the next day did so.He entered a Tesco Express in Kinson, Bournemouth, said he was there on police business, which he knew was untrue, and demanded the store manager's phone number.Dorset Police's deputy chief constable Rachel Farrell said "tackling unethical or unacceptable behaviour", like that displayed by Mr Leigh-Anderson, remains a priority for the force.
Supermarket staff said they felt "intimidated and threatened" by Mr Leigh-Anderson to the point that they had no choice but to give the manager's phone number.The force said the workers feared being arrested if they did not comply.Following an investigation, Mr Leigh-Anderson was suspended and he quit the force in January. Dorset Police held a hearing on Monday, which concluded he committed gross misconduct and would have been dismissed. Special constables are unpaid but work closely with regular officers. They wear the same uniform and have the same powers as regular officers.

Three teenagers charged with attempted murder after 15-year-old injured in park
Two teenage boys and a teenage girl have been charged with attempted murder after a 15-year-old boy was seriously injured in a country park. Officers were called by the ambulance service to an injured teenage boy on Margaret Terrace in New Herrington, Sunderland, at about 6.10pm on Friday, Northumbria Police said. The boy had sustained serious injuries consistent with being caused by a bladed article, the force said. Two 16-year-old boys and a girl aged 15 were arrested and have been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident. The teenagers, who cannot be named due to their age, remain in custody and will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Monday. The injured boy remains in a stable condition in hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening. It is understood by police that the teenager was assaulted within the grounds of Herrington Country Park. Chief Superintendent Nicola Walker said on Saturday: 'Our officers remain in the area to offer reassurance and investigate, which involves some search activity within Herrington Country Park. 'While inquiries remain at an early stage, it is believed some of those involved could be known to each other.' She added: 'We know this is a high footfall area and it's likely there were lots of people in and around the park at the time of the incident. 'If you were in the area, or you witnessed anything, then please reach out and share any details with us as soon as possible.'

"We just want her back home safe with us where she belongs.' 'We have a team of officers out looking for her and we desperately want to bring her home to her family. 'Officers have been trying to locate Ruby by reviewing CCTV, speaking to her friends and family, and checking known addresses.
