Deion Sanders dodges Karrueche Tran question as dating rumors swirl
Deion Sanders had a clever way of dodging a question about rumors that he and actress Karrueche Tran are dating after she supported the Colorado head football coach during his bladder removal surgery in May. During an appearance on the 'Say What Needs To Be Said' podcast, former NFLer Asante Samuel asked Sanders about his relation to Tran, and mentioned how she was seen crying at the Hall of Famer's bedside in a YouTube video shared by his son Deion Jr. 'Don't kill the messenger,' Samuel said at the end of the interview. 'Everyone seen Karrueche Tran by your side during your hospital visit. Everyone want to know what that friendship is.' That's when Sanders pretended the connection was cutting out on the call. Whoa There Are a Lot of Restaurants Opening in Seattle Right Now
covers Seattle and Portland for Eater. A Seattle native, he's been a journalist for 15 years. Here's a list of notable openings we've clocked in the Seattle area in the last month. If we missed something, please email us: seattle@ GREEN LAKE — Highly anticipated Southern takeout spot Zax Eat 'N Three is no longer anticipated — it's here. It's serving meatloaf, chicken with horseradish sauce, and icebox cakes. CAPITOL HILL — Pitch the Baby, the second-ever women's sports bar in Seattle, is now open. Sister restaurant Condesa, which used to be a popular takeout window before it closed years ago, will reopen soon, but in the meantime you can get Mexican snacks and small plates alongside drinks. QUEEN ANNE — Six months after neighborhood institution Queen Anne Cafe closed, buzzy Capitol Hill Pizzeria Cornelly has opened its second location in the space. Expect lines at peak hours for this no-reservations place. QUEEN ANNE — For a different flavor of pizza in Queen Anne there's Swing. That's a new 'za and sandwiches joint that's notable for its $3.50 slices, which now counts as a bargain in Seattle? SEWARD PARK — There's a new pizzeria within a olive's throw of the water at Seward Park Pizza Co., a casual spot that also serves wings and sandwiches. WEST SEATTLE — Yet more pizza news, though this is a little more on the fancier end: Matt Gorman, formerly of Fremont standout Lupo, now has a takeout window only open on Friday evenings called Pizza Ritual. REDMOND — The fifth Washington location of upscale ice cream chain Salt and Straw opened in Redmond on July 5. MERCER ISLAND — The newest cafe from Macrina Bakery, whose breads and pastries are sold everywhere, just opened near Mercerdale Park. BALLARD — More expansion news: Brown liquor and meat purveyor Radiator Whiskey has opened its second location on Ballard Avenue. BALLARD — Just down the street from Radiator is another meat-focused restaurant, Little Beast, an upscale English-style pub and eatery from Beast and Cleaver owner Kevin Smith. (We're already celebrating its meat pies.) So if you're in Ballard, should you eat at Little Beast or Radiator? That's a real carnivore's dilemma. SOUTH PARK — El Rey Peruvian Restaurant, one of the few restaurants in the Seattle area serving that style of cuisine, is now open in South Park. (There's another restaurant with the same name in Lynwood, but the two appear to be unaffiliated.) WALLINGFORD — The already crowded Japanese food scene in this neighborhood is now even more crowded thanks to Sushi Taiyo. It doesn't have a website but the Seattle Times reports that it's been 'packed.' WALLINGFORD — And there's another new Japanese restaurant in Wallingford, Daruma Sando, which specializes in pork and chicken katsu. CHINATOWN–INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT — And speaking of Vietnamese cuisine, La Ka Saigon, a spot serving street food and milk tea, is now open on Jackson Street. CAPITOL HILL — A lively bar with street, Gol Mok Korean Market Bar has opened on Pike Street in the heart of Capitol Hill. It's owned by the same folks behind nearby Meat Korean BBQ. REDMOND — Japanese restaurant Momoji has opened a second location on the Eastside, in a mixed-used building next to the Downtown Redmond light rail station. As with the Capitol Hill location, it serves a standard selection of Japanese standards like sushi, sashimi, and yakisoba. PIONEER SQUARE — Day Made, a small cafe on the edge of Pioneer Square, is now open and serving the usual coffee drinks (and matcha), alongside primo baked goods from Ben's Bread. ALKI — Taking over the old Locust Cider space is the accurately, if unimaginatively named Seaside Grille, which serves mainly burgers and sandwiches. CAPITOL HILL — Colibri Mexican Kitchen has opened in the former Plum Bistro space, reports Capitol Hill Seattle Blog, with 'large portions and full plates.' Looks like a lot of steak on the menu too. UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — In a move that absolutely makes sense vibes-winse, juice-and-sandwich joint Joe and the Juice is open inside the swanky outdoor shopping complex.

From Vine to Pump.fun: Jon Paul Piques and Creator Coins Are Reshaping Livestream Monetization
Jon Paul Piques, one of Vine's breakout comedy stars, is back in the spotlight, this time helping lead a new wave of creator-led livestream monetization on the fast-growing Web3 platform where creators launch their own tokens and engage directly with their audiences. The Do It For The Vine coin quickly reached over 6 million dollars in market cap during its first week. While the price now fluctuates based on open market activity, the project's momentum has remained strong. Streams continue drawing in viewers with a blend of comedy, IRL segments, podcast-style interviews, and live community interaction. Unlike meme tokens centered on a single personality, Do It For The Vine powers a broader creator channel featuring a rotating cast of streamers, guests, and creators. It is not about one person. It is about building a collaborative stream. The coin functions as a digital access point to a creator-led ecosystem that keeps content fresh and interactive. At its core, the project is a Web3 native talent agency made up of people who embody the spirit of the original Vine era: raw, viral, and unapologetically entertaining. 'This is not hype or gambling' says Piques. 'People are showing up because they believe in what we are building together. This is about creating something long term, a real community-driven content channel. I am committed to showing up and continuing to build it with the team.' The collective is already bringing in familiar faces and rising talent. Vine alum Jerry Purpdrank, who has built a combined following of over 12 million across platforms, is joining the streams, as is Jack Doherty (Jackson O'Doherty), a no-filter stunt creator with a combined audience of nearly 24 million across YouTube, Instagram, and X. 'I joined Do It For The Vine to stream because I have been looking for a platform where I can actually make the content I want without censorship or restrictions so I can truly entertain my audience' says O'Doherty. Their involvement brings fresh energy and broader reach to the channel. The deal was developed by a founding team that includes Piques and his longtime lawyer and manager, Ashwant Venkatram, founder of Venkatram Ventures. Venkatram has represented top creators across comedy, entertainment, and digital media for more than a decade. 'I pride myself on seeing what is next before it hits,' says Venkatram. 'I was the first lawyer to represent creators on Vine when brand deals were 500 dollars, and within months, we were negotiating 50,000 to 100,000 dollar campaigns for six second content. That Gen Z audience became so valuable we had A-list celebrities reaching out for integrations.' 'With crypto I have always been cautious' he adds. 'But this was not about speculation. What stood out to me with is that it is a transparent tool. It is simply a live way to build something with your audience and let them engage in real time. And that is exactly what the team behind this project is doing.' 'This is not about chasing hype' he continues. 'It is about giving creators another tool to control their relationship with their audience. No middlemen, no approval pipelines. That kind of ownership is something I have always pushed for in my client deals.' He adds, 'We are experimenting with the first publicly built talent collective where the audience can track progress, engage in real time, and see the results of new signings, content, and brand partnerships as they unfold. The coin's performance reflects audience interest, not financial guarantees. It is simply one way to observe community traction as it happens. That level of visibility and alignment is new and worth paying attention to.' The team believes this is just the beginning. 'You are going to start seeing high profile guests on stream. Creators, celebrities, maybe even politicians' says Piques. 'This format gives us room to experiment. There is no brand filter. The audience shows up when they are entertained. And when they are not, we see that instantly. It is like culture moving in real time.' As traditional platforms continue tightening monetization and visibility, presents an alternative that is creator-owned and audience-driven. If Do It For The Vine is the start, the future of streaming may look more like a real-time market than a traditional media channel.
