Airtel's Nxtra raises renewable energy sourcing deal with Ampin to 200 MW
Airtel
on Monday said it will source additional 125.65 megawatt renewable energy from Ampin Energy under a fresh agreement signed between the two companies.
With this, the total renewable energy partnership between the two companies has crossed over 200 MW (megawatt).
"Nxtra by
Airtel
and AMPIN Energy Transition have strengthened their partnership with a new, power-wheeling agreement involving 125.65 MW of
solar-wind hybrid energy
through
Inter-State Transmission System
(ISTS) connected plants," Nxtra said in a statement.
Earlier, the company had signed two deals for sourcing around 75 MW renewable energy from Ampin.
The additional capacity will be delivered to Nxtra in two phases, each through captive solar-wind power projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka, respectively, the statement said.
"This achievement highlights our leadership in using ISTS-backed clean energy to power our facilities sustainably, boosting reliability and ensuring tangible climate impact," Nxtra by Airtel, CEO, Ashish Arora said.
Ampin has been supplying solar power to Nxtra through intra-state, open access in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha.
With this new agreement, AMPIN will add 11 new states as well as new technologies such as large-scale ISTS renewable energy supply and the seamless supply of renewable energy from a single Independent Power Producer (IPP).
"With this partnership, we demonstrate that through a seamless blend of inter-state and intra-state renewable energy solutions backed by a pan-India presence, we can take any customer through a nearly 100 per cent energy transition.
"Nxtra by Airtel, a leader in the data and fast-growing data centrespace shares our vision for sustainability and we are proud to make data centres green by this association," Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, MD and CEO, AMPIN Energy Transition, said.
Nxtra joined the global RE100 initiative in June 2024, pledging to source 100 per cent of its electricity from renewable sources.

Nayara Energy seeks ships from India to ferry refined fuels: Report
Russia-backed private refiner Nayara Energy, which was sanctioned by the European Union last month, has sought help from India's shipping ministry to get vessels for the movement of its refined fuels, a government source said on Nayara is struggling to get vessels for the supply of refined fuels for its retail stations in India. The private refiner has already cut crude runs at its EU's sanctions, Nayara has faced shippers asking for termination of contracts and Microsoft briefly suspending critical services. The ministries of shipping, oil and foreign affairs will shortly meet to look into Nayara's request, the source told reporters after a meeting with Nayara Delhi is exploring possibilities of arranging India-flagged vessels of local companies for the private refiners. Vessel owners are citing problems including availing insurance cover for undertaking voyages for Nayara, the source added. - Ends

REA Group gains on profit jump, dividend hike
BENGALURU: Shares in Australia's REA Group marked their sharpest intraday rise in two and a half years on Wednesday, after the News Corp-backed property listings firm posted strong full-year profit and raised its final dividend. The stock touched A$257.13 during the session, the highest level since February 20, buoyed by a 23% rise in attributable net profit to A$564 million ($365.30 million) for the year as well as a record annual revenue of A$1.67 billion and a resurgent housing market. Chief Executive Owen Wilson said Australia's property fundamentals remain robust, with buyer demand underpinned by expectations of further interest rate cuts and steady house price growth. "These are favourable conditions for sellers to bring their properties to market," Wilson added. REA, which operates the popular realestate(dot)com(dot)au platform, declared a final dividend of A$1.38 per share - up 35% from last year - supported by strong operating cash flow and proceeds from the sale of its stake in Southeast Asian portal PropertyGuru. The company said it expects residential buy listing volumes in the new financial year to remain broadly in line with last year's "healthy" levels, underscoring the market resilience. REA noted that market conditions remain healthy, supported by high employment and expectations of further monetary policy easing by the Reserve Bank of Australia , which is likely to boost buyer demand and vendor confidence to list on REA's portal. Analysts at Jarden called the result "solid" and in line with expectations. They noted the key question now lies in residential yield growth - or how much REA can earn per listing - with future uplift likely hinging on customer uptake of its premium product, Audience Maximiser All. REA also confirmed that a new chief executive will be appointed in September, as Wilson prepares to step down after a decade with the firm.

Oyster Renewables plans to invest ₹16,000 crore in 2-GW capacity by 2028
New Delhi: Mumbai-based Oyster Renewables plans to invest ₹16,000 crore in 2 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy capacity in India by 2028, its Managing Director Siddharth Bhatia told ETEnergyWorld in an exclusive interaction. 'We are about to commission close to 300 MW capacity by December 1, 2025. These are our first two projects that will come online. With that, we have another 450 MW of capacities under construction and development expected to come online by the end of the calendar year,' he said. He added that the total investment size on a 1-GW platform is about ₹8,000 crore, which the company is going to scale up to 2 GW. Of this amount, ₹2,000 crore would be equity investment and the balance would be debt. 'As far as our investments are concerned, these are located in Singapore and we have tied up with a family office who also are partners with us and the investment has been lined up for the entire 2-GW platform,' he said. Out of India's 500 GW of renewable energy capacity target by 2030, the renewable energy independent power producer is planning to contribute 2 GW by 2028, representing nearly one per cent of the national target. 'We are looking at just under one per cent of India's total capacity by 2030, which is still a sizable contribution for us,' he mentioned. He added that the firm also plans to introduce a battery energy storage system of about 10 per cent of the total capacity, which would get stored and then be injected into the grid, or perhaps sold on the exchange at peak hours to ensure better realisation. 'One of the first projects that we signed was close to about 300 MW capacity of hybrid wind and solar on the ISTS network, which will deliver 100 MW of RTC power,' he said. Bhatia said that the company is looking at opportunities on the AI side of things, which would help them become more efficient on operations and maintenance. 'We have also incorporated robotics in our projects,' he said. He said that the company is young, and currently focused on ensuring that it achieves the targets that it has set out.
