Interior Minister inaugurates field hospital in Arafat and inspects Hajj Media Operations Center
MAKKAH — Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif inaugurated on Saturday a field hospital affiliated with the General Administration of Medical Services at the Ministry of Interior in Arafat.
The minister had a comprehensive briefing on the hospital's capacity, which includes 100 beds and advanced medical equipment across all departments. Supported by specialized medical, nursing, and technical staff, the facility is fully equipped to provide immediate and effective responses to emergency cases involving pilgrims.
The minister also inaugurated a pioneering technological initiative with the smart health bracelet. The bracelet is designed to monitor the health status of security personnel in the field by tracking multiple vital signs and immediately alerting the command center, emergency teams, and healthcare providers. This innovation significantly enhances the medical readiness of security forces tasked with ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims.
Prince Abdulaziz also carried out an inspection tour of the Hajj Media Operations Center, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Media. Upon arrival, he was received by Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary, along with several senior officials from the ministry.
During the visit, Prince Abdulaziz was briefed on the center's various departments and advanced equipment aimed at enhancing media integration among all government agencies involved in the Hajj season. This integrated approach will contribute to conveying a comprehensive image of the Hajj activities and providing coordinated media and awareness services. It is designed to unify the work of participating entities and facilitate the dissemination of information and developments from reliable sources to both local and international media outlets.
The interior minister was also briefed on the Hajj Media Hub initiative within the center. The hub features a welcome area for visitors and 'Hajj window' screens which display inspiring stories and experiences from Hajj. The 'transformation exhibition' area offers an immersive and interactive experience, showcasing Hajj services from 11 government and private entities.
Prince Abdulaziz further reviewed the media briefings platform, which unifies the media efforts of government agencies participating in the Hajj season, and the media community area, which offers services to media professionals utilizing the latest innovative technologies.

WHO designates Jeddah and Madinah among 16 'Healthy Cities'
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 16 cities as 'Healthy Cities' and two Saudi cities found a place among them, according to the Ministry of Health. Jeddah and Madinah stand out as the first cities in the Middle East with populations of two million to receive the accreditation, marking a key milestone in the ministry's Healthy Cities Program and its ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life. The accomplishment reflects successful collaboration among government and community stakeholders, through the application of more than 80 international evaluation criteria across nine core domains spanning health, development, and sustainability. The ministry noted that the national health system continues to strengthen its global standing through a series of significant achievements in scientific research and international recognition. The Kingdom has also made notable advances in medical research and innovation. A study conducted by King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) on robotic liver transplantation was named one of the top 10 most influential research papers of 2024 by the American Society of Transplantation. In addition, seven Saudi hospitals were included in Brand Finance's Global Top 250 Hospitals 2025 report, highlighting the Kingdom's strong healthcare infrastructure, international competitiveness, and commitment to high-quality patient care. These accomplishments are closely aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 — particularly the 'A Vibrant Society' and 'A Thriving Economy' pillars, to enhance quality of life and support innovation and scientific advancement. Saudi Arabia attracts 616 regional HQs of global companies by Q1 2025, says Media Minister
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's program to attract the regional headquarters of global companies has brought in 616 firms by the first quarter of 2025, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari said on Wednesday. The figure marks a rise from 571 companies in the previous quarter. Speaking at a press conference in Riyadh, Al-Dosari said the Kingdom is actively boosting startup growth and investment appeal, with commercial registrations reaching 1.7 million by mid-2025, up 13% year-on-year. Citing the 2025 Global Startup Ecosystem Report, he said Saudi Arabia's global ranking in entrepreneurship support jumped 60 places to 23rd, and five Saudi firms are poised to become unicorns. The Saudi Business Center and its online platform have delivered over 10 million services. In the industrial sector, the number of factories has grown from 7,200 before Vision 2030 to 12,500 by mid-2025, while industrial investment has climbed from SR955 billion to SR1.2 exports surged from SR178 billion to SR607 billion, with Saudi products now reaching more than 180 countries. The 'Made in Saudi' program has unlocked more than 3,000 export Saudi Industrial Development Fund issued SR4.5 billion in loans in the first half of the year, while the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones established around 2,200 ready-built factories to support investors and mining, Saudi Arabia advanced from 104th to 23rd in the global mining investment attractiveness index, with over 2,400 valid mining licenses issued by also highlighted health sector achievements, including Jeddah's recognition as the Middle East's first 'healthy city' of over one million residents by the World Health Organization, and the inclusion of seven Saudi hospitals in the 2025 global top 200 list. 'In the Kingdom, health is not just a sector but an investment in people and quality of life,' he announced that the Ministry of Media and Ministry of Education will launch a Media Scholarship Program to train Saudi students at leading universities and companies worldwide, with details to be revealed later.
