'I left with a lot of different emotions'
Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has told social media followers he has left League One-bound Cardiff City with "a lot of different emotions".The Press Association reported earlier in June he had agreed a deal to sign for Mexican side Club Universidad Nacional - known as Pumas UNAM, whose manager Efrain Juarez shares the same agent as Ramsey.If the move is completed, the former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder would become the first high-profile British player to play in the Mexican league.Ramsey became Cardiff interim manager for the final three games of the 2024-25 Championship season after the club sacked Omer Riza.The 34-year-old could not stop Cardiff from being relegated to the third tier, but he had been under serious consideration to take charge of the Bluebirds on a full-time basis this summer.In the meantime Ramsey's Cardiff departure was confirmed and Brian Barry-Murphy has become Cardiff boss and Ramsey's former Wales team-mate Gareth Bale has been linked with a consortium hoping to take over as new owners.
Ramsey posted: "Although it has been personally challanging at times I made sure to give my all on and off the pitch for this wonderful club that is so close to my heart. "For now I am on a new adventure but I will be keeping a close eye on the club as always and it will forever have my support. "Good luck to the staff and all the players for the upcoming season and a big thank you to the amazing fans! Until next time, Aaron."Ramsey has made it clear he wants to continue his playing career and lead Wales at the World Cup next summer.Ramsey returned to his boyhood club Cardiff in 2023, but injuries have restricted his game time.Pumas finished sixth in the 2024-25 Mexican standings and qualified for the Concacaf Champions Cup.
