The former Spain ace started his career with Oviedo's academy in 1996 before going on to star for Villarreal, Malaga and Arsenal.
Cazorla, who almost lost his leg due to an infection after numerous Achilles injuries, rejoined them in 2023 after a spell in Qatar.
Oviedo were in the second tier of Spain at the time, having last played in LaLiga in 2001 while even suffering relegation to the fourth division.
Cazorla's first campaign back saw his side suffer heartbreak in the playoff final.
But the minnows are now back in the big time after Cazorla inspired a stunning win against rivals Mirandes, who won the first leg 1-0.
They doubled their advantage after just 16 minutes to leave Oviedo's hopes of promotion hanging by a thread.
But Cazorla stepped up to score a penalty just before half-time, pulling his side back into the game.
Oviedo then levelled the tie on the hour mark before Mirandes had a men sent off.
And the hosts completed their stunning comeback in extra time as Oviedo fans flooded the pitch in tears of joy.
Cazorla was all smiles at full time as he kissed wife Ursula, having returned to Oviedo out of pure love for the club.

The playmaker even wanted to go unpaid, but league rules dictated he had to accept a minimum wage of £80,000 per year.
It now remains to be seen if Cazorla stays for one more season in LaLiga, having undergone a total of 10 operations to leave him in daily discomfort.
Two years of injury hell starting in 2016 saw a bacterial infection eat a 10cm chunk out of his right Achilles and ankle bone.
A bit of Cazorla's hamstring and arm muscle was used to rebuild the tendon.
And he previously declared a return to Arsenal as a coach could be on the cards, saying: 'Arsenal have never closed the door to me.'
Cazorla scored 29 goals in 180 games during his six years at the Emirates while winning two FA Cups.
He also played 81 times for Spain while winning successive Euros, but missed the World Cup victory in 2010 due to a hernia.

Arsenal target Premier League player as star shares club's huge transfer plans

Arsenal are expected to be one of the Premier League's most active team in the summer transfer window as they pursue a deal for a top quality striker and a new winger Arsenal are looking to make a splash in the summer transfer market to help them push for the Premier League title next year and the signing of an elite No.9 is their top priority. The Gunners have already been linked with a host of star names since the 2024-25 campaign came to an end. But it remains to be seen whether it will be Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko or a left-field option who will be leading the line for Mikel Arteta 's men next year. ‌ While there is no news yet on a striker signing, Arsenal are closing in on their first summer capture with Martin Zubimendi jetting into London this week. ‌ The Real Sociedad playmaker will become the club's first summer signing with a deal all but wrapped up - and there should be plenty more transfer activity to follow in the coming weeks. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from in and around The Emirates... READ MORE: Gunners target Norgaard Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard has emerged as a shock midfield target for Arsenal, who could lose the services of Thomas Partey in the coming weeks. Partey will become a free agent at the end of the month and with no agreement in place with the Ghana star, Arsenal are now thought to be weighing up alternative targets. The Gunners also lost the services of Jorginho earlier this month. And Mirror Football understands that Norgaard, 31, is a player Arsenal could move for in order to boost their squad depth ahead of the new season. Timber's transfer hint ‌ Jurrien Timber has predicted that Arsenal will be 'busy' in the transfer market this summer as the club's top brass continue to pursue quality signings. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last term and are desperate to go one better after three successive years of near misses - and Timber reckons the club will add 'lots of players' in a bid to build a title-winning squad. Speaking on the Matchday podcast, he said: "It will definitely be a busy one for Arsenal. I think we will get a lot of players, because we had so many injuries last season." ‌ Spurs make Semenyo call Tottenham and Manchester United have cooled their interest in Antoine Semenyo after discovering a deal for the Bournemouth forward would set them back at least £70million. Semenyo is a target for a host of top clubs after a stellar season for the Cherries and was linked with Arsenal back in the spring with the Gunners in the market for attacking reinforcements. While it remains be seen if the Gunners will make a move for Semenyo this summer, The Athletic report Spurs did lodge an enquiry for the Ghana star. But they, much like Manchester United, have been 'deterred' by Bournemouth's valuation of the player. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Lioness captain Leah Williamson warms up for the Euros by jetting off on sunshine break to Majorca with former Miss USA

She will be leading the Lionesses at the Euros in three weeks but Leah Williamson has made the most of her summer by jetting off to Majorca with close friend, and former Miss USA, Elle Smith. The two women beamed as they soaked up the sun, went paddle boarding and dined out at high-end restaurants after growing close in recent months. Ms Williamson and Ms Smith have been sharing photographs of one another – including one where they celebrated the England star's Champions League win with Arsenal three weeks ago. Ms Williamson also posted snaps from their trip in which her pal commented: 'Same time next year?' to which Ms Williamson replied: 'Yes.' Although it's unclear how they were introduced, they seem to have known each other for some months as Ms Smith posted a video of Ms Williamson's 28th birthday on March 29 saying 'Happy Birthday my love x'. It showed them floating on a platform in the sea on another holiday. Ms Smith is based in New York City and London and is signed to the Wilhelmina Models agency. With over seven million views on TikTok and 122,000 followers on Instagram, she has worked with brands including Kim Kardashian's Skims, Adidas and Sol De Janeiro. We deserve it so much – Harvey Elliott hails England's quarter-final victory

The Young Lions benefited from an early let-off after a VAR check resulted in an overturned penalty before captain James McAtee netted a 10th minute opener, Elliott scored five minutes later and substitute Elliot Anderson added a penalty in second-half stoppage time. Javi Guerra's 39th-minute penalty denied a clean sheet for the defending champions, but it was nevertheless a splendid night for Lee Carsley's men, who face the Netherlands in the final four on Wednesday. What a win. What a performance. OUR #YOUNGLIONS ARE INTO THE #U21EURO SEMI-FINALS! 👏 — England (@England) June 21, 2025 'Incredible. Lost for words, I think,' said Elliott. 'I said at the start of the game it was going to be very tough, they're going to play an incredible game against us, but I thought the way the lads handled it, handled the pressure, conceding a goal and being determined to keep on going, keep on fighting, we deserve it so much. 'Now it's kind of time to celebrate, but we need to think about the semis now. Celebrate, recover, rest, go again.' Tyler Morton will miss the last-four clash through suspension after he was booked against Spain, while Napoli's Rafa Marin saw red before a post-match scuffle broke out between the sides. Elliott added: 'It was always going to happen. I think it's just passion from both teams, it's just one of them. I was trying to calm everyone down, because at the end of the day we have everything to lose. They don't if they get sent off. 'We have to focus now, we can't get too carried away, we can't lose players for the semi-final.' Manchester City midfielder McAtee was more subdued than his team-mate, adding: 'We're over the moon, but the focus is the semi-final now. We're happy about the win, but we need to switch focus.' England boss Carsley was delighted by the way his men responded after nearly conceding a penalty in the early stages of the first half. 'We talked about getting a fast start and to give the penalty away after a minute, obviously then going to VAR – the lads showed a lot of character,' Carsley said. Through to the semis! 💪 — England (@England) June 21, 2025 'I thought the first half we were so good. I was saying before the game, I think the longer we can stay in, the more fluid we will become. Some really outstanding performances and they should be proud of themselves.' England will now get some much-needed rest and a day off before turning to their semi-final tie. Carsley added: 'The big thing is this can't be our final. This can't be our highlight of the competition, there's better nights to come.'
