Deputies: Drunk driver ‘murders mailboxes' in Stafford County during car crash
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. () — The Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said a reckless drunk driver 'murders mailboxes' during a late night ride resulting in several charges.
'Two businesses will have difficulty getting mail' after a driver, who was allegedly under the influence, crashed into mailboxes and then into a telephone pole at around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 300 block of Warrenton Road, SCSO said.

Witnesses told deputies who responded to the scene that they were heading westbound on Warrenton Road when the driver, who was in a Chrysler, came up behind them, passed them, and then kept driving recklessly, crossing between lanes.
The Chrysler then swerved off the road, hit two mailboxes and then crashed into a telephone pole.
The driver told deputies that he was trying to avoid a car that 'came out of nowhere' and swerved to avoid hitting it.
Deputies found out that was false and the driver was showing signs of intoxication and he admitted to having alcohol at a birthday party earlier, according to SCSO.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to the hospital for concerns of possible internal injuries.
Warrants were obtained for the driver for driving under the influence, reckless driving, two counts of destruction of property and failure to wear a seatbelt.

The two crooks then went through the home, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.
