Sonic Fans are Begging for This Incredibly Popular Item to Make Its Return: ‘So Gooey and Delicuous'
Sonic Fans are Begging for This Incredibly Popular Item to Make Its Return: 'So Gooey and Delicuous' originally appeared on Parade.
After a long winter, we've all been looking forward to summer. And while the recent bout of extreme heat is quickly reminding us of everything we don't love about the season, it hasn't stopped us from chasing the little joys that made us fall for summer in the first place.
When it comes to quintessential summer activities that don't involve lounging by a body of water, few things feel more fitting than a local state or county fair. With its whirlwind rides, impossible games and deep-fried delights, the fair is a magical mix of nostalgia, mystery and iconic summer flavors.
😋😋🍳🍔
In honor of fast food's long love affair with state fair desserts, our favorite food and beverage reporter @snackbetch rounded up the best carnival-inspired creations from the past 2 to 10 years. Maybe it's the heat, maybe it's our shared craving for something deep-fried and sweet—but one thing's clear: fans couldn't stop talking about one nostalgic treat in particular—Sonic's beloved Fried Oreos.
'With all the fairs going on right now, it would be so cool if the fast food chains brought these back as a summer fair/carnival dessert menu,' @snackbetch wrote in their post. 'Which one do you want to see return?'
'The Sonic Fried Oreos look good,' one fan wrote—only to be met further down the thread by another who declared, 'The Sonic Fried Oreos were on point!!'Sonic's Fried Oreos were one of those fast food stunts that actually worked. A state fair classic, fried Oreos are warm, melty and wrapped in a golden, donut-like shell. Sonic's came with a little cup of powdered sugar for dipping and were only around for a limited-time in 2019.
Also on the list—and mentioned almost as much as Sonic's Fried Oreos—was Sonic's Fried Cookie Dough: little pockets of gooey chocolate-chip goodness, fried crispy and served with a mini cup of vanilla soft-serve for dipping.
'Fried cookie dough,' one viewer wrote. 'Honestly, really anything cookie dough,' they laughed.
Honorable mentions include KFC and Burger King's Funnel Cake Fries, Long John Silver's Deep Fried Twinkies, McDonald's Donut Sticks and Carl's Jr. & Hardee's Froot Loops Mini Donuts. Which would you like to see return?Sonic Fans are Begging for This Incredibly Popular Item to Make Its Return: 'So Gooey and Delicuous' first appeared on Parade on Jun 22, 2025

B&B's Rebecca Budig and DAYS' Greg Rikaart Join Forces for New Show
General Hospital veterans Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson have blazed the trail for soap actors to do performances outside their shows, as well as podcasts. Their show, That's Awesome, has been going strong since 2018. Now comes word that two soap actors from Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful are collaborating to create a fun new podcast that fans will surely love. Budig and Rikaart took to Instagram to jointly announce, 'Love soap operas? 🫧 Go behind-the-scenes with the drama, the stories, the real stars! The #Soapy podcast is coming to you starting July 8th!' A video accompanied the post and Rikaart began, 'Hello everybody, I'm Greg Rikaart, Daytime's favorite chaotic interloper, whether it's Leo Stark on Days of Our Lives or reformed bad boy Kevin Fisher on The Young and the Restless.' Budig jumped in with, 'And I'm Rebecca Budig. Whether you know me as Taylor on The Bold and the Beautiful, Greenlee from All My Children, Hayden from General Hospital, or Michelle from Guiding Light, we are so excited for you to join us on our podcast, Soapy.' The two explained that they're good friends and felt they should interview people they know and don't know, to, 'celebrate our genre coming from a place of love and reverence and respect for the incredibly challenging and hard and fun work that we get to do on daytime soaps.' (Learn how Rikaart's Leo is DAYS' secret weapon.) READ THIS: Find out what to watch on B&B. They explained that they'll be interviewing 'writers, producers, and other tastemakers who make all of these shows happen.' A glimpse at some of their upcoming guests included Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R), Deidre Hall (Marlena, DAYS), and Beyond the Gates' executive producer, Sheila Ducksworth. Rikaart and Budig will also delve into nighttime soaps as one of their guests shown was Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. Several soap stars from various shows expressed their enthusiasm with the new endeavor, including Julie Dove (Connie, DAYS), who responded, 'This is so exciting! Can't wait to watch and listen.' Weekly audio and video episodes of Soapy will appear starting on July 8 on all the podcasting apps. (Find out how Budige prepared to take over the role of B&B's Taylor.)

Here's Who Should Have Written John's Obituary On Days of our Lives
John's obituary became a main topic after his recent death on Days of our Lives, but if you ask us, it wasn't written by the right person. Salem has always been filled with writers, from Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Abigail (Marci Miller), to its latest, Leo (Greg Rikaart). Leo started at The Spectator as Lady Whistleblower, and now works as the paper's investigative reporter. So when the time came for John's (the late Drake Hogestyn) obituary, the job automatically went to Leo. READ THIS: DAYS casting surprise! The Young and the Restless' Conner Floyd is the new Chad. Granted, Leo did have a connection with John, once believing he was his father. But the actual Salemite who had the closest relationship with John and a way with words is Will (Chandler Massey). Will has become an established writer, his most notable work being A Very Salem Christmas. But despite his return to Salem to say goodbye to his grandfather, he wasn't asked to pen his obituary. Instead, the job fell to one of his biggest enemies. WATCH THIS: Did you know Soap Hub has a podcast?! Check it out here! Ironically, this isn't the first time Leo snagged a writing job meant for Will. When Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Abe (James Reynolds) were seeking a head writer for Body & Soul, Will was Kate's first choice. But when her grandson turned it down, the job ultimately went to Salem's signature writer, Leo. Do you think Will would have been a better fit to write John's obituary? Let us know in the comments.
