
UPSC prelims to be held at 91 centres in city today

) preliminary examination will take place on Sunday at 91 centres in Patna. Altogether 44,063 candidates will appear for the exam in the state. The exam will be held in two shifts – morning from 9.30am and afternoon from 2.30pm.
Candidates are required to reach their examination centres at least 30 minutes before the start of the test.
A preparatory meeting was held on Friday by Patna divisional commissioner Mayank Warwade and district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh with local inspection officers, magistrates, police personnel and centre superintendents to ensure the smooth conduct of the exam.
"Ensuring a clean, malpractice-free and peaceful environment for the civil services (preliminary) examination 2025 is the top priority of the administration.
All officials concerned and magistrates must remain alert, prepared and committed to this end," the commissioner said.
Local inspection officers, static magistrates-cum-assistant supervisors, zonal magistrates-cum-assistant coordination supervisors, reserve magistrates and police officers have been deployed sub-centre-wise. The district has been divided into 30 zones for the 91 examination centres.

In total, 91 local inspection officers and assistant supervisors-cum-static magistrates, 30 zonal magistrates, 18 reserve magistrates, and adequate police forces will be on duty.
Alok Kumar, city magistrate-cum-officer-in-charge of the district control room, Patna, has been appointed as the nodal officer for the examination.
According to UPSC guidelines, candidates must carry only a printed admit card, a valid photo ID, a recent photograph and a ballpoint pen into the examination hall. The use of barred items such as cellphones, smartwatches, digital watches, Bluetooth devices and other electronic gadgets is strictly prohibited.

Security heightened for Patwari recruitment exam
Jaipur:The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) will conduct the Patwari recruitment examination under strict security on Sunday, with over 6 lakh candidates set to appear for more than 3,500 vacancies. The exam will be held in two shifts across the state. RSSB chairman major general (retd) Alok Raj said the board has implemented comprehensive measures to prevent malpractice. "We will scan biometric data and conduct face scans at centres to weed out dummy candidates," he told TOI. In sensitive districts like Banswara and Jalore, the board will maintain constant CCTV monitoring. Candidates will undergo thorough frisking to ensure they do not carry Bluetooth devices or other prohibited items. To prevent question paper leaks, officials will transport the papers under stringent security protocols. "Since the exam will be held in two shifts, the question paper of the first shift will not be released until the completion of the second shift. Only then will it be uploaded on the website," Raj said. The boxes containing the papers will be opened in safe rooms under CCTV supervision. Gaya cop found dead in rented room
Gaya: A sub-inspector posted in the media cell of the senior superintendent of police's (SSP) office in Gaya was found dead in his rented room on Friday morning. The deceased, Anuj Kashyap, hailed from Bangaon police station area in Saharsa district and was a 2019-batch sub-inspector. He had been posted in Gaya since 2022-23. His body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room at Koili Pokhar locality under the Rampur police station area. Kashyap, married around two years ago, lived alone in Gaya while his wife resides in Delhi, where she is preparing for the UPSC examinations. Upon receiving information, City SP Ramanand Kumar Kaushal reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. He asked police officers to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident. Rampur SHO Dinesh Bahadur said, "The body was sent for post-mortem after one of the family members reached Gaya. Forensic and technical teams are assisting the police in the investigation to ascertain the reason behind the incident."
