Queens baby died from SIDS, not pit bull mauling, parents reveal
A one-month-old baby girl found dead with severe facial injuries in a Queens housing complex last week did not die from a dog mauling, rather from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), according to her grieving parents and a preliminary medical report.
Little Kiyanna Winfield was discovered lifeless in bed by her mother, Lillian Burton, and stepfather, Christopher, early Tuesday morning inside their apartment at the Queensbridge Houses. Initially, police believed the infant was killed by the family's six-week-old pit bull-German Shepherd mix named Bella, who was later euthanised.
However, on Wednesday, the New York City Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed the dog's bites came after the baby had already died.
'We can confirm this is not a death from a dog mauling,' a spokesperson for the office said, adding that the cause of death is 'pending further study to include a full pediatric workup.'
The family claim they had no idea their daughter had passed away until the devastating discovery that morning.
'Our baby was alive when we all went to sleep. That is the last thing we know,' said Christopher.
'Our baby died of SIDS… She also had medical issues.
She had a heart murmur," the New York Post reported.
The couple say they were horrified to wake up and find the young pup biting Kiyanna's face around 6:30 a.m. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, with authorities describing the injuries as involving a 'substantial portion' of her face.
'I did not kill my child,' Lillian Burton said in an emotional interview. "I take real good care of my kids," she said, "They're well fed, they're well changed, they're well put together."
"For someone to say my kids are malnourished, that isn't true."
Photographs show Kiyanna as a healthy newborn weeks before the tragedy, peacefully napping at the hospital and at home.
Neighbours told The Post they had raised concerns about the puppy days earlier. 'I told her, 'That dog needs to be on a leash,'' said Shanel Nroville, who lives in the building. 'She said, 'No, this dog don't bite.' I said, 'All dogs bite.''
The family has since been locked out of their apartment while police continue their investigation. No charges have been filed as authorities await the final autopsy results.

Jonathan Joss' husband reveals killer's disturbing 5-word comment after shooting, ‘He's laughing, saying…'
The husband of actor Jonathan Joss has opened up about the heartbreaking moment the King of the Hill star was shot, and the killer's disturbing five-word comment after opening fire. Tristan Kern de Gonzales told The Independent that the killer cackled and spewed a gay slur moments after he shot Joss in the head. Joss was fatally shot by a neighbor, who Gonzales said was homophobic, near his San Antonio, Texas, home. 'Everything was really close range. It was in the head,' Gonzales said of the moment Joss was shot by Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez. 'While I'm holding him, [the suspect] has the gun pointed over me, and he's laughing, saying, 'Oh, you love him? Joto,'' Gonzales added. ''Joto' is Spanish for f—t. I never knew the word until I came to Texas, and then I heard it a lot.' Alvarez was arrested just a block away. He has been charged with murder, but police said that the initial investigation found 'no evidence' indicating Joss was attacked because of his 'sexual orientation.' 'We take such allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information. Should any new evidence come to light, we will charge the suspect accordingly,' San Antonio police said in a statement, according to the New York Post. Gonzales previously said on social media that the attack took place shortly after he and Joss found the bones of their dead pet dog displayed on the property, which caused them 'severe emotional distress.' 'We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw,' Gonzales said. 'While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.' 'He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other,' he added in the post.

‘It's a brawl world after all': Disneyland Shanghai turns chaotic over line-cutting dispute
Disneyland is often described as the happiest place on earth; certainly not a place where you'd expect a physical fight. But that's exactly what unfolded at Disneyland Park in Shanghai, China. According to local media reports via Viral Press, a heated argument between two couples waiting at the Crazy Animal City attraction escalated into a physical altercation. The couple, reportedly with a child in tow, were said to be arguing over line-cutting. One couple was also attempting to take a photo together when they were allegedly blocked by the other family, the New York Post reported. In the now-viral clip, two men, one dressed in black, the other in white, can be seen grappling with each other as a woman in a bunny-ear hat tries desperately to separate them. Park-goers, including several children, can be seen watching in shock. The same woman then turns and aggressively shoves a mother holding a child. The video shows the mother screaming and crouching to the ground, clutching her child tightly to her chest in fear. Moments later, the same woman returns to wedge herself between the fighting men once again, this time, grabbing one of them by the throat. The X handle of the New York Post – @nypost – shared the video on Instagram with the caption, 'It's a brawl world after all. A wild fight erupted at Disneyland after a couple and another couple with their child got into a heated argument over line-cutting.' The video has since gained 260 thousand views and 6.2 thousand likes on the social media platform. A post shared by New York Post (@nypost) The viewers were sort of entertained and kind of shocked seeing the brawl. One user commented, 'Don't ask why but the volume was muted but I had the Benny Hill theme song playing on my phone. Absolute cinema.' Another user commented, 'As a mother— why would you even let your kid be exposed enough to get hit.' A third user wrote, 'Doesn't seem like the happiest place on earth.' A fourth user said, 'Gawd, literally the only normal person in this video is the kind woman who took the child out of the crying moms arm to keep her from getting hit (again).' While the New York Post reported that only minor injuries were sustained, both couples could be facing a lifetime ban from Disneyland under the park's strict rules against any form of violence.

Female Prison Cop Had Phone Sex With Inmate, Sent His Mother 900 Messages
A female prison officer, who had phone sex with a prisoner, has confessed to public misconduct and faces jail time. Megann Gibson was smitten with the man while she was employed at HM Prison Wealstun in West Yorkshire. The 26-year-old visited the prisoner in his resettlement housing, allowed him access to restricted areas of the facility, and had sexual interaction with him while she was employed there. She also sent his mother over 900 messages to keep their affair going when it seemed to be unravelling. Ms Gibson has now entered a guilty plea to misconduct in public service and faces imprisonment. She also admitted to possessing cannabis. The former guard is expected to be sentenced in August, The Telegraph reported. The judge at Leeds Crown Court in West Yorkshire, Northwest England, warned Ms Gibson that she could receive a prison term. She was later released on unconditional bail, but the judge emphasised that her offence was a "serious matter." She has been suspended from her job at Wealstun, a Category C prison. According to the charges against her, Ms Gibson had "sexual communications via telephone" as part of an "inappropriate relationship" with the prisoner at the time of her employment at the HM Prison Wealstun in West Yorkshire. According to Ms Gibson's defence attorney, she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from a past relationship and undergoing a series of mental health diagnoses. Ms Gibson is the latest female prison guard to be fired in the United Kingdom due to her illegal relationship with an inmate. Isabelle Dale, 23, was charged in May for having sex with two prisoners and conspiring with them to sneak drugs into the high-security facility in Kent, Southeast London. Another UK prison guard, who admitted to having an "inappropriate" affair with an inmate, was sentenced to one year in prison. Toni Cole, a staff member at HMP Five Wells, admitted to having an affair with a male prisoner, 28, in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. At least 29 UK female prison guards have been terminated due to inappropriate interactions with inmates in the last three years, per the New York Post.
