Pachuca part ways with manager Almada before Club World Cup
Uruguayan Almada, who joined three-and-a-half years ago, led Pachuca to the CONCACAF Champions Cup title last year, sealing their place in the Club World Cup.
Pachuca also reached the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in December, where they lost to Real Madrid.
The manager bid an emotional farewell to players, staff and directors on Wednesday, Pachuca said in a statement, without giving a reason for his departure.
In March, FIFA said Liga MX sides Pachuca and Club Leon had failed to meet criteria on multi-club ownership and removed Leon from the Club World Cup. The Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected Leon's appeal against the removal earlier this month.
Pachuca's spot in the 32-team Club World Cup, set to kick off in the U.S. on June 14, was unaffected.

TOKYO :Mazda Motor said on Tuesday it expects a 145.2 billion yen ($987.02 million) hit to its operating profit this business year due to U.S. import tariffs, as the Japanese automaker rolled out measures to cushion the impact. To soften the blow of the tariffs, the company said it is taking measures including changing shipping routes, increasing output at its plant in the U.S. state of Alabama and adjusting production volumes. The impact of the higher U.S. duties on results this year remained "quite significant," assuming that exports from Japan would face a 15 per cent tariff and those from Mexico 25 per cent, Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey Guyton said. Without its countermeasures, the company would be at risk of a 233.5-billion-yen operating profit hit for the year ending March 2026, Guyton told reporters during a briefing. Mazda has been trying to boost sales of its CX-50 crossover sport utility vehicle. The company has a major plant in the Mexican state of Guanajuato from where it exports vehicles to the U.S. It said last week it sold about 210,000 vehicles in the United States over the first half, up 4 per cent from a year earlier. Mazda has forecast a full-year operating profit of ¥50 billion for the year ending March 2026, down sharply from the previous financial year. Japan PM Ishiba states negative view on issuing written Japan-US agreement on tariffs
August 5, 2025 TOKYO – Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba expressed a negative view about issuing a written agreement between Japan and the United States regarding U.S. tariffs during Diet deliberations on Monday. Attendees of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, including the prime minister, held intensive discussions on issues such as Japan-U.S. tariff negotiations. While having a negative stance on a written agreement, Ishiba stressed his willingness to devote himself to lowering tariffs on automobiles, which were not mentioned in an executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump. Regarding measures against high prices, Ishiba indicated his intention to hold discussions between the ruling and opposition parties. During the deliberations, Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan President Yoshihiko Noda expressed concerns about the absence of a written agreement, saying, 'The Trump administration might interpret it broadly, and Japan could continue to be ripped off.' In response, Ishiba said, 'I am most concerned that creating a document will delay the reduction of tariffs.' He then vowed to focus on reducing the tariffs steadily. Economic revitalization minister Ryosei Akazawa, Japan's chief tariff negotiator, made similar remarks in the Diet deliberations. The ruling and opposition parties have agreed to abolish the provisional gasoline tax by the end of the year, and their talks on the matter have begun. 'The government will do everything it can to achieve this steadily and promptly,' Ishiba said in response to a question from LDP member Takashi Yamashita.
