Leverkusen Secure Quansah from Liverpool
Bayer Leverkusen have signed England Under-21 defender Jarell Quansah from Liverpool on a five-year deal. Though official fees remain undisclosed, reports suggest the transfer could reach £35 million including add-ons.
Quansah, 22, graduated from Liverpool's academy and made 58 appearances since his senior debut in the 2023-24 season. He was also part of England's victorious Under-21 European Championship squad this year.
Leverkusen's Sporting Director Simon Rolfes praised Quansah's pace, agility, and skill, highlighting him as one of England's top defensive talents.
Leverkusen, runners-up in the Bundesliga last season, recently appointed Erik ten Hag as head coach. The club also sold Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool, with Wirtz's transfer valued at around £100 million plus bonuses.

The 2019 world champion and Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist is using today's race as part of her build-up for the World Athletics Championships 2025, to be held from September 13 to 21 in Tokyo's 70,000-capacity National Stadium. More than 2,000 athletes from around 200 countries are expected to compete across 49 events. After Chorzow, Naser will continue her Diamond League campaign in Lausanne on August 20 and in the Zurich final on August 27-28, as she sharpens her form ahead of the worlds.

Bahrain Ready for Arab Junior Volleyball Championship
TDT | Manama Bahrain's under-18 men's volleyball national team is set to begin their campaign in the 17th Arab Junior Volleyball Championship, which opens today in Amman, Jordan. The tournament features eight teams split into two groups. Bahrain, under the guidance of Argentine coach Santiago Faidutti, are placed in Group B alongside Kuwait, Iraq, and Palestine. Group A includes Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, and hosts Jordan. Initially, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were scheduled to compete but later withdrew. Bahrain will begin their medal bid tomorrow against Kuwait at 5pm (Bahrain time). They will then meet Iraq on Monday and Palestine on Wednesday, both also at 5pm. The knockout stages will follow the preliminary round. Ahead of the competition, the official technical meeting was held yesterday, during which team uniforms were presented and tournament administrative matters addressed. The event is being organised by the Arab Volleyball Association, chaired by Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, in cooperation with the Jordan Volleyball Federation. Bahrain has been preparing extensively, including a training camp in Cairo and several friendly matches in Amman. Liverpool target Isak controls his Newcastle future: Howe
Eddie Howe admits Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has control of his future with the club as Liverpool remain interested in signing the Sweden forward. Isak will not be involved in Newcastle's Premier League opener at Aston Villa on Saturday after reportedly telling the club he wants to leave St James' Park. The 25-year-old was the subject of a rejected £110 million ($149 million) bid from Premier League champions Liverpool earlier in August. Newcastle boss Howe is desperate to keep Isak, who helped t h e M a g p i e s end their 56- year trophy drought by w i n n i n g the League Cup final against Liverpool last season, while also firing them to Champions League qualification. Asked if he envisioned Isak playing for the Newcastle before the end of the summer transfer window, Howe told reporters yesterday: 'As I sit here now, I don't know that. Alex will control that.' Isak is reportedly refusing to train or play in an effort to force his way out of the club he joined from Real Sociedad in 2022. He did not take part in Newcastle's pre-season tour, training alone at his former club Sociedad instead. Isak has three years remaining on his Newcastle contract and it is understood he will be fined -- the maximum penalty for a single offence is two weeks ' wages -- for missing a competitive match this weekend.
