India slams OIC for 'unwarranted' references to it

Time of India5 hours ago

India
on Monday slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (
OIC
) for making "unwarranted" and "factually incorrect" references to it while coming under influence of
Pakistan
, which turned
terrorism
into "statecraft".
India's strong reactions came after a two-day foreign ministerial conclave of the OIC in Turkiye criticised New Delhi on a range of issues including what it said is "social marginalisation" of Indian Muslims.
The OIC also called for strict adherence to bilateral pacts between India and Pakistan, including the
Indus Waters Treaty
and stressed the need for a broad-based dialogue for peaceful settlement of all outstanding disputes.

"India categorically rejects the unwarranted and factually incorrect references to India at the
OIC council of foreign
ministers' meeting," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.
"These statements, driven by Pakistan, which has turned terrorism into statecraft, reflect the continued misuse of the OIC platform for narrow political ends," it said.
Live Events
The MEA said the OIC's repeated "failure" to acknowledge the real and documented threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, most recently evidenced in the heinous
Pahalgam attack
, reflects a "wilful disregard" for facts.
It said "the OIC has no locus standi to comment on India's internal affairs, including
Jammu and Kashmir
, which is an integral and sovereign part of India -- a fact enshrined in the Indian Constitution and irreversibly settled."
"The OIC should reflect deeply on the perils of allowing Pakistan's propaganda to hijack and politicise its agenda. Any other course can only undermine the OIC's credibility and relevance," the MEA said.
It said India also "outrightly rejects" Pakistan's baseless allegation of "unprovoked and unjustified military aggression".
"India's
Operation Sindoor
in response to the Pahalgam terror attack was a precise and legitimate act of self-defence against terrorist camps operating from Pakistani territory," the MEA said.
"It is absurd for Pakistan to speak of targeting only Indian military installations when its retaliatory attempts not only failed but recklessly endangered civilian lives and property and ended up causing several deaths and injuries among the civilian population.
"It is also ironic that Pakistan, a country with an abysmal
human rights
record and a history of sheltering, breeding and empowering terrorists, should lecture others on counter-terrorism and human rights," it said.
The MEA said the comments made by Pakistan at the OIC meeting are nothing more than a "desperate attempt" to deflect international attention from its own appalling record of "state-sponsored terrorism, minority persecution and sectarian violence, apart from failure of governance".

DRDO offers 28 indigenous weapon systems to defence forces for emergency procurement

In line with the government's self-reliance push, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has offered 28 existing weapon systems that it designed and developed, for emergency procurement by the armed forces. 'Under emergency procurement, all three forces — the Army, Navy and the Air Force — are allowed to add new and replenish existing weapon systems as per their requirement. There is a long list of weapons like rockets, missiles, grenades, anti-drone missiles, and many more that the DRDO is offering to defence forces,' sources said. Opinion: Lessons from Operation Sindoor's global outreach The development comes at a time the government has already approved emergency arms procurement powers for forces. Befitting reply A top source in the Defence Ministry said that it was a well-established fact that during Operation Sindoor, the indigenously developed weapons performed well and gave a befitting reply to Pakistan and thwarted its attack. The government has also made it clear on several platforms that Operation Sindoor is still on. To make the procurement smooth for the Army, the Indian Air Force and the Navy, the DRDO has given them a list of vendors and products (weapons). The list includes the names of private defence manufacturers and public sector undertakings (PSUs). The forces have been given the option to order from a list of 28 different pieces of equipment, including 14 for the Army, eight for the Navy, and six for the Indian Air Force. The DRDO has been the main developer of weapons for Indian defence forces. Its BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, MRSAM air-edge fence missile systems, and Akash air-edge fence systems were behind the success of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. On May 10, following retaliation by Pakistan, Indian defence forces conducted strikes on Pakistani airbases, including Murid and Nur Khan.

Warring uploads post with V-sign, deletes it in minutes

Ludhiana: Amid the defeat of Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who lost the Ludhiana West bypoll to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate by over 10,000 votes, a post by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring became a talking point. His official Facebook page showed the victory sign with his picture. Warring uploaded the post at around 1:04pm on Monday, by which time the AAP candidate's victory was almost assured. Although the post was deleted four minutes later, over 100 people had liked it by then. Prior to this, Warring faced backlash on poll day when he, through a Facebook post, appealed to people of Ludhiana West to go out and cast their votes. However, he did not specify who to vote for. In the comment section, people criticised him for not seeking votes for the Congress or its candidate, Bharat Bhushan Ashu. The rift between Ashu and Warring is not lost on anyone. They have often been seen avoiding each other. After the MC elections in February this year, Warring visited the city to meet winning councillors, party workers, and leaders. However, Ashu skipped Warring's meeting that day. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Click Here Undo Later, when Ashu was announced the bypoll candidate, Warring visited Ashu's residence but returned without meeting him as he was not home. While Warring claimed that prior information had been given to Ashu about his visit, Ashu claimed that he had not been informed. Warring did not join Ashu and his team during the election campaign too. Although he visited the city thrice, he was seen sharing the stage with Ashu only once. They were seen together only when Ashu filed his nomination. Besides, Warring held a press conference in Ludhiana when the Vigilance Bureau issued a summons to Ashu; however, the PC was organised without Ashu. A few days before poll day, Warring, along with leader of opposition (LOP) Partap Singh Bajwa, joined Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel for a press conference, in which Ashu was absent. When Ashu was asked about Warring's post with a victory sign, Ashu said, "I have not seen any such post. But, if someone made any such post, it is because of his narrow-mindedness." Despite repeated attempts, Raja Warring was not available for comment. MSID:: 122028520 413 |
