Brighton send stern warning to Man United over Carlos Baleba as Quinten Timber rumours emerge
Manchester United was sent a stern warning by Brighton & Hove Albion FC as the Red Devils try to from the fellow English Premier League. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that after failing to cut a deal for Baleba, Manchester United could turn their attention towards Quinten Timber.
Brighton send warning to Man United
Amid intense speculations that Baleba will be moving to Man United as Ruben Amorim's first-choice for a new midfielder, Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler on Thursday shut down the transfer rumours by declaring that he is confident the 21-year-old Cameroonian will continue with the Seagulls.
'I am very, very confident," Hürzeler said. 'I didn't see any change. He seems to be in a very good place, enjoying it with his team-mates.'

The stumbling block for United in trying to sign Baleba is the steep asking price, as Brighton have made it clear that they will only entertain a deal of above £100 million. They reportedly want £115 million, the amount Chelsea paid to them in 2023 for Moises Caicedo.

United look at Quinten Timber
Man United are reportedly and may look at other players. They have already spent over £200m to buy Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko in the ongoing transfer window.
According to FootballTransfers, United are monitoring Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber. The 24-year-old Dutch midfielder has one year left on his contract, and Feyenoord are 'willing to sanction a sale this summer if they receive a suitable bid.'
United are in desperate need to add midfielders to the squad as Manuel Ugarte has failed to shine, Casemiro is ageing, and Toby Collyer is set to join West Bromwich Albion on loan.
Reportedly, Collyer wants to stay back at United, but the club wants him to play regular football in the Championship.
United have also tried to sell Cassemiro to arrange some extra funds, but have failed to find a proper suitor so far.

Liverpool beat Bournemouth in Premier League opener as Ekitike, Gakpo, Chiesa and Salah shine
Liverpool launched their Premier League title defense with a dominating 4-2 win against AFC Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday (August 15). The defending champions showcased their attacking talent, with new signings Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, alongside star players Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, and Mohamed Salah, delivering standout performances. Hugo Ekitike, who was signed by the club in the summer, made an immediate impact by opening the scoring in the 37th minute. The young French striker calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner after a slick interplay with Florian Wirtz. Liverpool were leading 1-0 at halftime. Cody Gakpo doubled Liverpool's lead just three minutes after the start of the second half. Linking up brilliantly with Ekitike, Gakpo cut inside and placed a precise shot into the bottom corner, igniting the Anfield crowd. Bournemouth bounced back, leveling the score at 2-2 with goals that exposed some vulnerabilities in Liverpool's defense. Antoine Semenyo scored both goals for his team in the 64th minute and the 76th minute. However, Federico Chiesa, another summer addition, restored Liverpool's lead in the 88th minute with a close-range finish, marking his first Premier League goal. On the other hand, Mohamed Salah scored his tenth goal in season openers by finishing inside the box with his right foot. Arne Slot's team, Liverpool blended new and established stars, with Alisson in goal, a back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Milos Kerkez, and Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai anchoring the midfield. The attacking quartet of Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo, and Ekitike overwhelmed Bournemouth's defense, which featured debutants Bafode Diakite and Adrien Truffert. Despite Bournemouth's resilience, Liverpool's attacking depth under Slot proved decisive. This win has laid a strong foundation for the defending champions, Liverpool, with their new signings integrating seamlessly and Salah continuing to lead by example. Bournemouth, despite the defeat, showed promise, building on their ninth-place finish last season under Andoni Iraola. Liverpool will now face Newcastle United on August 25. On the other hand, Bournemouth AFC have their next game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 23.

Late Liverpool goal flurry overcomes resilient Bournemouth challenge
Liverpool talisman Mo Salah and fellow forward Federico Chiesa struck late goals as the Premier League champions began the defence of their title by beating Bournemouth 4-2 in a thriller on the opening night of the season at Anfield on Friday. On a bittersweet evening charged with emotion after the July death of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, newcomer Hugo Ekitike bagged a goal on his debut to put the hosts ahead after 37 minutes and Cody Gakpo doubled the lead in the 49th. But Antoine Semenyo, who was the target of racist abuse in the first half that led to a pause in the game, pulled one back for the visitors in the 64th minute and completed a double 12 minutes later to rock Liverpool and shock the home fans. However, substitute Chiesa sent the Liverpool faithful away happy with an 88th-minute strike after goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic swatted away a ball into the box by Salah, who scored himself deep into added time to wrap up the three points.

Premier League 2025-26: Top five new players, title favourites, Matchday 1 schedule and live streaming
The 2025-26 season of the Premier League gets underway with defending champions Liverpool facing Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming season. Liverpool's Florian Wirtz and Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres are two new signings to keep an eye on in the 2025-26 Premier League season. Reuters The 2025-26 Premier League season gets underway with defending champions Liverpool facing Bournemouth in an emotional season-opener at The Anfield, the English top-flight strengthened by a remarkable £2 billion ($2.7 billion) spending splurge, a sizeable chunk of it spent by the Reds. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming season, from the key signings to watch out for and title favourites to Matchday 1 schedule and information on live streaming: STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Top five new signings to watch out this season Florian Wirtz, Liverpool: The biggest signing of the summer so far, ($157 million) from Bayer Leverkusen, the spotlight will firmly be on the German attacking midfielder and whether he can live up to his price tag or not. He did, however, impress in the at the Wembley, providing an assist to fellow new signing Hugo Ekitike early in the game. Hugo Ekitike made an instant impression after joining Liverpool on a £79 million deal from Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring the opening goal in the fourth minute of the contest. AP Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool: It took under four minutes for Hugo Ekitike, who had joined the defending champions from Eintracht Frankfurt for £79 million ($107 million), to make an impact on Liverpool debut as he put the Reds in the lead with a superb strike. Like Wirtz, Ekitike too will have the spotlight on him this season, being the second-most expensive signing of the summer transfer window so far. More from Football Benjamin Sesko, Manchester United: Ruben Amorim's side have opted for a complete overhaul in their attack as they desperately seek to return to European competition this season after their horrendous 15th-place finish in May. And the Portuguese manager will be hoping that Slovenian striker Sesko, who (approximately $100 million) provides a towering presence at 6'5, makes a formidable trio with Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha up front. Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal: The Gunners have had their eyes on the Swedish centre-forward, who is among the deadliest finishers in the world and has played a key role in each of Sporting CP's title-winning campaigns in the last two Primeira Liga seasons. And after weeks of suspense, Mikel Arteta's side ($86.05 million) on a five-year contract on 27 July. Arteta will be hoping Gyokeres is able to carry that red-hot goal-scoring form over to England and help his side finally lift their first Premier League title since 2004. Rayan Cherki (Manchester City): Cherki, who joins Man City for £34 million ($46 million), had created as many as 125 chances across competitions for Lyon last season, with only Barcelona's Raphina and city rivals United's Bruno Fernandes having bettered that tally. That alone should make the Frenchman among the new signings to keep an eye on this season. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Who are the title favourites in the 2025-26 Premier League? Liverpool had clinched the Premier League last season with four matches to spare in Arne Slot's maiden season in charge, and with their ambitious shopping in the summer transfer window, there's no reason to believe that the Reds cannot win back-to-back titles for the first time in the Premier League era. Then again, one cannot leave Arsenal and Manchester City out of the conversation while discussing Premier League title favourites. With their ambitious purchases in the transfer window, Liverpool certainly will back themselves to win back-to-back Premier League titles. AP City have been the most dominant team in the English top-flight since legendary manager Alex Ferguson bid United goodbye in the summer of 2013, missing out on the title once twice since the 2017-18 season – getting thwarted by Liverpool on both occasions. A key reason why they looked relatively off-colour last season was injury to key players, including and especially Ballon d'Or winner Rodri. And there's no reason to believe Guardiola's men can't bounce back and win their 11th top-flight title this season. As for the Gunners, Arteta certainly has transformed them into a formidable and consistent side with the 13-time English top-flight champions finishing runners-up in each of the last three seasons – twice to City and to Liverpool last season. With a goal-scoring machine in striker Gyokeres in their ranks along with an elite holding midfielder in Martin Zubimendi – who joins from Real Sociedad for £60 million ($81 million), who's to say Arteta cannot deliver his fans their first league title since the Invincibles' triumph in 2003-04.
