Style Edit: Omega's new Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer is a bold and inventive evolution of the Swiss brand's consistently popular model, available in 2 graphic styles
Omega's Worldtimer watch invites wearers to explore the planet, but no previous model has done so as dramatically or as graphically as the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer: it lays out the Earth before the wearer, in the form of a map of the world at the centre of the dial.

Picked out in relief in Grade 5 titanium, using laser ablation and varnish, the map lets the wearer observe the territories of the globe from an unusual perspective: perched above the North Pole, with the Arctic at the centre and the rest of the world radiating outwards. This spectacular illustration is surrounded by a 24-hour indication; outside that are the hour markers, which appear against a black background with a raised honeycomb pattern, alongside a date indication at six o'clock.

Finally, 24 locations are named around the edge of the dial, one for each hour, among them Omega's home of Bienne, Switzerland, at GMT+1. The complication at the watch's heart is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8938, the same engine as in the brand's Aqua Terra 150M Worldtimer.

The two new timepieces, each listed at £14,000 (HK$141,000), represent an attention-grabbing evolution of the Seamaster. The oldest of Omega's celebrated collections and the watch of choice for James Bond, it heralded a sea change in horology when it emerged in 1948. It combined advanced functionality, based on new technology borrowed from submarines, with a dress-watch appearance that made it as refined as it was rugged.

For the latest edition, the brushed case in black ceramic, offering water resistance to 600m, takes its visual cues from the Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black and makes a big impression on the wrist, measuring in at a chunky 45.5mm.

The trademark Seamaster helium escape valve is present and correct at 10 o'clock, while the black ceramic bezel features a laser-ablated diving scale, again in positive relief. The model is available in warm turquoise or stark monochrome, with hands and hour markers in Super-LumiNova in white or a new grey shade. The watches come on an integrated strap in black structured rubber, with turquoise or grey stitching.

Style Edit: The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M, as seen on Daniel Craig at the Paris Olympics – James Bond's favourite watch gets new models in titanium, bronze gold and stainless steel
Few dive watches are as embedded in pop culture as the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M. First made famous in 1993, when it appeared on Pierce Brosnan 's wrist during his turn as James Bond, the watch has seen updates over the decades – and as Daniel Craig succeeded Brosnan as 007. Throughout, it has stayed true to its identity: wave-patterned dial, skeletonised hands, distinct bezel and numerals, time-only design to preserve symmetry and a helium escape valve at 10 o'clock. Omega Seamaster Diver 300M stainless steel models. Photo: Handout This year, the brand has introduced an array of colours and materials, the first of which is a stainless steel version that was spotted on Craig's wrist at the Olympic Games in Paris last year. The full release of the stainless steel models now includes one with a black aluminium bezel and dial, alongside another with a grade 5 titanium bezel and brushed PVD stainless steel dial. Both are available on mesh bracelets or rubber straps. Advertisement Omega hasn't stopped there. Taking inspiration from the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition worn in Craig's last turn as Bond – No Time to Die – the brand released two more versions using their unique bronze gold alloy, evoking the patina and tropical accents of that earlier version. Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in bronze gold with a burgundy bezel. Photo: Handout Comprising 37.5 per cent gold, and enriched with palladium and silver, the alloy imbues the watch with a soft pink hue. The alloy resists corrosion and verdigris oxidation – a kind of greening that is common with bronze, as seen on large sculptures like the Statue of Liberty. Instead, the bronze gold present in the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M references from this release patinates gracefully, beautifully and uniquely to the wearer. Both bronze gold versions come with striking dial and bezel colours, and house the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 within the 42mm case with its domed sapphire crystal and oxalic anodised aluminium bezel ring. For those looking for more bronze gold, look to the burgundy bezel with black dial. The matt black tone of the dial comes from sandblasted aluminium, and is accented with PVD 18k bronze gold hands and blackened indexes. Photo: Handout For those looking for something lighter-coloured yet durable, the green-dialled version combines bronze gold with grade 2 titanium for the case and mesh bracelet. The addition of titanium – a material often used in aircraft and spacecraft – allows the watch to withstand extreme temperatures.

How Western classics are now weaponised against the West
I felt like the farcical weapons specialist Q, in Stephen Chow Sing-chi's famous James Bond spoof From Beijing with Love, after a reader wrote to me recently. In the scene, Q and Chow's 007 haven't met in a long time. Advertisement 007: What have you been doing? Q: Conducting cutting-edge research at a psychiatric institution. 007: What kind of research? Q: Can't say. I was being experimented on. Advertisement When friendly reader Peter Lee told me his son Trevor, who is pursuing a PhD in classics in the United States, presented a paper at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Society for Classical Studies in which my columns were heavily referenced, I was flattered – until I read his paper. I wasn't so much studied as being rounded on!
