Summer McIntosh to change coaches to Bob Bowman
Triple Olympic gold medalist Summer McIntosh of Canada will start training under a new swim coach, Bob Bowman, moving to Austin, Texas, after this summer's World Championships.
"I know I can fully trust Bob and trust his training, and I know I'm going into an amazing training group," McIntosh told CBC Sports. "But I also think there's unknowns when it comes to what that's going to do with my racing and my potential. I think the sky's the limit with him. I know he's going to make me reach my full capacity and potential."

Bowman was Michael Phelps' career-long coach and coached France's Léon Marchand to four individual golds at the Paris Olympics.
McIntosh's three Olympic golds in 2024 came in events that Phelps and Marchand also swam — the 200m and 400m individual medleys and the 200m butterfly.
'Bob having someone like the greatest of all time swimmer Michael Phelps, being able to do all those events is definitely an attraction, and along with Léon as well,' McIntosh, who has a cat named "Mikey" after Phelps, said in February.
McIntosh, 18, previously said that this would be her final season in Sarasota, Florida, under Brent Arckey, her full-time coach for the last two and a half years. She also recently trained in France under coach Fred Vergnoux, who will be with her through worlds in Singapore in July and August.

She is leaving Arckey amicably, seeking to continue her personal and professional development while factoring in academics but not swimming in the NCAA. McIntosh and Arckey gave a joint interview in February to discuss her decision and reflect on their success together.
McIntosh said in February that she had reached out to Bowman, the University of Texas head coach who also coaches pro swimmers in Austin. While McIntosh won't swim in the NCAA, she does plan to start taking college classes next year, whether that's in person at Texas or elsewhere online.
McIntosh, who swam four individual events at the 2023 Worlds and the 2024 Olympics, repeated that she plans to race five individual events at the 2025 Worlds: the 200m and 400m individual medleys, the 200m butterfly, the 400m freestyle and one of the 200m backstroke, 200m free or 800m free.
If she chooses the 800m free, it could add another showdown with Katie Ledecky, the four-time reigning Olympic gold medalist in the event.

In February 2024, McIntosh became the first swimmer to beat Ledecky in an 800m free final since 2010. Ledecky and McIntosh are the two fastest women in history in the event.
McIntosh did not swim the 800m free at the Paris Games.

James Norton and Rebecca Adlington take part in 10-hour charity swim
Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington and actor James Norton have taken part in a wild sea swim for a marine conservation charity. On Friday, the two were among those to take the plunge in a 10-hour endurance ocean swim at Joss Bay in Kent, to raise money for the Blue Marine Foundation, a charity committed to addressing overfishing. Ahead of the event, they shared their earliest memories of the sea and pressed the importance of allowing future generations to 'experience the magic of healthy seas'. Ms Adlington told the PA news agency: 'I've always felt a deep connection to water, so when the opportunity came up to support coastal restoration through this event with Talisker and Blue Marine Foundation, it just felt like a natural fit. 'As a swimming challenge, this one stands out because of its direct impact on protecting and preserving marine life, with £150 from every kilometre swum helping to fund essential conservation work.' The two-time gold medal swimmer added: 'I hope people see this event as more than just a challenge, it's a call to action.' A report published by Blue Marine Foundation in July 2024 noted a 92% UK reduction in seagrass meadows and a 95% decline in native oyster reefs over the last century. Happy Valley actor Norton said: 'Like everyone, I'm in awe of the ocean. It's wild, powerful, and under threat. 'Taking a stand is about protecting biodiversity and ensuring future generations can experience the magic of healthy seas.' He added that his family goes by the mantra 'you'll never regret a swim' but admitted he had never been involved with this level of endurance swimming. New government regulations came into force on Friday which give water industry regulator Ofwat the power to retrospectively prevent bonuses paid in cash, shares or long-term incentive schemes to chief executives and chief financial officers for breaches of environmental, customer service or financial standards in a given financial year. Ms Adlington did not have a direct challenge for water companies in the UK but added that the Blue Marine Foundation was committed to coastal regeneration and improving UK waters. Ahead of the event, Norton said: 'My earliest memories of the sea are going on day trips to Scarborough. 'My whole village would cram into a coach and head to the beach for a day of fish and chips, rock and candy floss.' For every kilometre swum by participants at Joss Bay between 7am and 5pm on Friday, Talisker, who are supporting the event, will donate £150 to the foundation. The company has also pledged a further £112,608 to Blue Marine Foundation through sales of a limited edition whisky.

There may be a medical reason why Tyrese Haliburton's voice changes
Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton has continued his heroic postseason run, but if you listen to him talk about it, you may notice something. Haliburton, who represented Team USA during the Paris Olympics, occasionally sounds like he has two entirely different voices. Then (ironically) right as he said the words "why would that change" later in the conversation, his voice suddenly had a much higher pitch. Haliburton added that he feels he has no control over it, and it's something that just happens to him. So why exactly does that happen? Brianna Williams reached out to Dr. Michael M. Johns from USC's Voice Center, and he provided a possible explanation (via ESPN): "Vocalization is a lot like athletics; people don't think of it that way because it happens naturally," Dr. Johns told ESPN. "It's like putting aluminum foil on a guitar string; the sound changes when the vibration is irregular." Regarding Haliburton's voice, Dr. Johns observed: "When you listen to Tyrese's voice, there's a rough quality to it, and that would likely be a change of what's happening at the vocal cords, like that 'tinfoil on the guitar string' analogy." He speculated that Haliburton might be compensating for vocal fatigue by changing his resonance, shifting the shape of his vocal tract or resonator. "Athletes are using their voice a lot, and they're using their voice loudly," Dr. Johns explained. "They're hollering across the court. There's a huge amount of noise around them. They've got to be heard over that noise. And so they, like other vocal athletes, can develop some injury to their vocal folds, vocal nodules, or vocal swelling that can cause some rough quality to the voice." World champions Alysa Liu and Madison Chock and Evan Bates headline November's Skate America as figure skating's Grand Prix Series assignments for the Olympic season have been announced. The world's top skaters each compete twice over the six-event regular season in October and November, with the top six per discipline over the series qualifying for December's Grand Prix Final in Nagoya, Japan.
