Corrector: the makeup bag's secret weapon
A concealer is a necessity in any makeup arsenal, brightening and evening out the skin. Sometimes, however, even a good concealer needs a little help, like the days when I am more tired than usual and a heavier discoloration peaks out around my eyes. This is where a corrector comes in (Lisa Eldridge has recently launched a clever line of concealers that also correct; Givenchy, Jones Road and MAC have worthy candidates, too). It neutralises any discolorations, so when you add your concealer the brightness and evenness will be taken up a notch.

I've heard certain skincare 'experts' and people who don't take the act of face washing very seriously, argue that a cleanser is not that important – that we shouldn't be spending very much on it because it only sits on our faces for mere seconds before being washed down the sink. While I'd struggle to justify a cleanser that falls into three figures (because, seriously, no), I would absolutely argue that cleansers are key to how the rest of our skincare behaves and therefore what our skin looks like. And so, it's essential to pay attention to our cleansers – any ol' thing really won't do. What is wonderful is when you get a great cleanser that (yes) cleanses, but also has added benefits – think brightening, declogging pores, smoothing skin textures – and does not cost the earth. Just like this brilliant one from Naturium. It includes acids and enzymes to break down the dead cells our skin accumulates over time. Our skin's ability to shed these cells – which cause dullness – decreases as we age, so every little helps. The formula also includes vitamin C to brighten dark spots and pigmentation. The gel texture, which I love, is not only refreshing, but unlike gel cleansers of old, it removes makeup and impurities without drying the skin. And all for £20. Even the 'experts' and people who don't take face washing seriously can't argue with that.Naturium Vitamin C Complex Cleanser, £20, spacenk.com

Cleaning experts reveal the 'only' way to get grout sparkling again
Tile grout can be a nightmare to clean, but a professional cleaner has revealed the 'only' way to get sparkling grout - and it doesn't involve vinegar or baking soda Cleaning tile grout lines can be a challenging task, and a simple mop won't eliminate the dirt. However, cleaning professionals have a straightforward solution that will make your grout appear as good as new. Home experts at The Spruce consulted Jade Piper, a professional cleaner and Operations Manager for BetterCleans, to uncover the ultimate grout cleaner - and it doesn't involve vinegar or baking soda. The secret? A steam cleaner. Jade clarified: "My favourite grout and tile cleaner is not a chemical solution of some sort. "Wave goodbye to those because all you need is a steam cleaner!" She continued: "It reduces the elbow grease by at least half, and you're not stooped over with a toothbrush. "I always cover much more area in less time, and the results are far more consistent. Once you've finished, sweep a clean microfiber mop across the floor, then dry it immediately with another dry mop or towel. his prevents streaks and stops any dirt from resettling." The professional cleaner endorses the Dupray Neat Steam Cleaner, available on Amazon. The cleaner includes a 17-piece Accessory Kit, featuring an extension tube, brass brush, garment steamer bonnet, nylon brush, and cleaning pad. It's currently priced at £159.99, reduced from £229.99. The steam cleaner presently holds an average rating of 4.3 stars from over 2,900 reviewers. One delighted customer raved: "I'm genuinely impressed with the Dupray steam cleaner! First off, it's incredibly lightweight and compact, which makes it easy to carry around and store, perfect for smaller homes or apartments. But don't let the size fool you. "On a single tank fill, I was able to deep clean an entire bathroom, tackle a heavily soiled oven, and refresh all my kitchen cabinets-without needing to stop and refill! "The steam output is strong and consistent, and it made stubborn grime and grease disappear with minimal effort. This little machine packs a serious punch and has completely changed my cleaning routine. Highly recommend!". Another buyer voiced their thoughts: "I love that it comes with different attachments and the steam is ready pretty quickly and pretty powerful. However, steam cleaning requires constant steam on a surface for 30 sec to actually kill all germs so this becomes very time consuming. "However, if you're not concerned with sanitising, it still does a pretty good job on different types of flooring (mine was wooden) and material (couches, chairs etc). The assembly and removal of parts are very easy. However, the low efficiency meant I did return it as I didn't want to wait 30 seconds every time." Meanwhile, bargain hunters can find a budget-friendly option at Argos where the Tower 16-in-1 Steam Mop is available for a mere £40. A favoured gentle cleaning tactic for tackling grout involves utilising lemon juice and baking soda. DIY Natural attests that these two ingredients are "excellent natural cleaners for most everything in your home". Commence with a specific quantity of baking soda (perhaps a quarter cup) and proceed to blend in spoonfuls of lemon juice until you attain " a thick paste. "Spread the solution out on the grout lines," they guided. "Let it sit for a few minutes, and then scrub it with the tile brush. A grout brush is a great tool for this because they have extra stiff bristles, but if you don't have a grout brush, an old toothbrush is a great substitute." To conclude, sweep away the remaining mixture from your floor.

This U.S. state eats the most fast food—and yes, even we were surprised
It's not a gross generalization to say that Americans love fast food restaurants, from regional favorites like California-born In-N-Out and New York's own Shake Shack to global grub juggernauts like McDonald's and Taco Bell. The United States is, unsurprisingly, the world's largest consumer of fast food—according to a study by the National Center for Health Statistics, 36.6%-percent of American adults consume fast food daily. But which state in the U.S. is most taken with the stuff? Well, the answer just might surprise you. A recent study by the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts determined that Maryland, home to a little over six million people, is the nation's fast food-loving capital, beating out far bigger locales like California and New York. The school looked at three categories to determine our rankings: fast food restaurants as a percentage of total restaurants in each state; the number of fast-food restaurants per capita in each state; and spending on fast food restaurants as a percentage of total food spending in each state. After ranking states in each category individually and combining their scores, the report then ranked all 50 states on a scale of zero to 100. Maryland's high marks (a perfect 100 score) largely owe to the fact that the Mid-Atlantic state easily has the highest share of fast-food restaurants as a percentage of total restaurants—nearly half (46.76-percent) of all restaurants in Maryland are fast food restaurants, 31-percent higher than the national average of 35.7-percent. Elsewhere, Hawaii had the most fast-food restaurants per capita, while Nevada placed first for fast food spending as a percentage of total food spending. At the other end of the spectrum, Idaho ranked lowest on the list, placing last in two of the three categories examined. You can check out the top ten fast food states in America, as well as their overall scores from the Escoffier study, below:

Victoria's Secret US website is down as lingerie seller addresses 'security incident'
Victoria's Secret has taken down its U.S. website and says some in-store services will be unavailable as it addresses an unspecified 'security incident." A message to customers remained in place of the popular lingerie brand's normal shopping site Thursday, stating that the company had halted these services 'as a precaution.' 'Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations," the message read. Victoria's Secret did not immediately provide more details about the 'security incident," or specify whether it was a cyber attack. The Associated Press reached out to the Ohio company for further information on Thursday. It also wasn't immediately clear when Victoria's Secret identified the issue and began halting some of its operations. Most media reports of Victoria's Secret website going dark emerged Wednesday — when the company also shared an update on social media — but some frustrated customers online said they began experiencing issues earlier in the week. A customer FAQ updated Wednesday night on Victoria's Secret corporate site noted that it did not have an exact timing regarding the return of its website — and that customer care services were also unavailable. The company said that it is trying to fulfill orders placed before Monday and that it would be extending return windows and some direct mail coupon offers for impacted customers in the U.S. Victoria's Secret said its stores, as well as its PINK brand locations, remain open for customers. But some in-store services, such as returning online orders in person, are unavailable per its customer FAQ. It was not immediately clear if any in-store services in Victoria's Secret locations outside the U.S. were also impacted. But the company's U.K. site appeared uninterrupted Thursday.
