State-owned firm BEML Limited has received its maiden overseas contract in the rail and metro segment from Malaysia valued at USD 1 million.
The work is for the retrofit and reconditioning of the Mass Rapid Transport System, according to a company stock exchange filing.
"...we hereby inform that BEML Limited received its maiden overseas contract in the Rail and Metro segment from Malaysia for the Retrofit and Reconditioning of the Mass Rapid Transport System on 09.08.2025, valued at USD 1 million," the company informed stock exchanges.BEML Limited, a leading multi-technology 'Schedule A' company under the Ministry of Defence, plays a pivotal role in serving India's core sectors, including defence, rail, power, mining, and construction, by offering world-class products.
BEML operates in three verticals: Defence and aerospace, mining and construction, and rail and metro. It has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities located in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysore, and Palakkad, with a strong R&D infrastructure and a nationwide sales and service network.
Separately, in early July, BEML Limited inaugurated its newly built state-of-the-art warehousing facility, spread over 0.12 acres, at the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) Aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Bengaluru.This marked a significant milestone in BEML's long-term vision of supporting India's aerospace growth and creating a robust supply chain ecosystem for global and domestic Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).The facility is designed not only to support BEML's internal logistics, but also to offer warehousing and allied services to other OEMs, Tier-1, and Tier-2 players.BEML envisions to create a Centre of Excellence for Aerospace Technologies within this SEZ, empowering India's self-reliance journey in defence and aerospace while creating a vibrant ecosystem for innovation, collaboration, and growth.

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated a special economic zone (SEZ) in Islamabad to be set up by a Chinese textile group . State-run the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported that the project would generate exports worth USD 400 million for the country. It will be set up by the Chinese textile group Challenge Fashion Private Limited , which is set to invest USD 100 million over five years in the project. PM Sharif welcomed the establishment of an SEZ, saying that the "initiative would facilitate technology transfer, skill development, and sustainable industrial growth". He also met with the company's delegation - led by its chairman Huwang Weiguo , expressing Pakistan's willingness to "take bilateral ties to new heights", APP quoted him as saying. Live Events The prime minister assured the delegation of his government's complete facilitation for setting up the zone as part of the "industrial component of CPEC ," and thanked the delegation for having faith in the Pakistani market, APP reported. The prime minister expressed Pakistan's desire to set up more such units across the country and hoped to benefit from China's textile sector. He also said that "a China-Pakistan Business-to-Business Conference would soon be held in China, providing an opportunity for collaboration between private businesses of both countries," APP reported. Chairman Huwang said he aims to establish a modern textile industry in Pakistan and thanked the prime minister for his support and hospitality. Pakistan and China have strong economic ties and the USD 60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a leading exponent of the relationship. Currently, phase II of the programme is being implemented with a focus on industrialisation, development of special economic zones and projects related to clean energy, agriculture and livelihood projects.

RVNL targets to launch first Vande Bharat Sleeper train prototype in June 2026; to deliver full 120 train sets by 2032

Vande Bharat Sleeper trains: The Ministry of Railways is working in full swing to ramp up the production of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. For this, the national transporter awarded the contract to manufacture Vande Bharat Sleeper trains to three companies: BEML, Kinet Railway Solutions (a Joint Venture between Russian rolling stock major TMH and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited – RVNL) and a consortium of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited and Bharat Heavy Engineering Limited (BHEL). Of these, the RVNL-led JV is set to manufacture 120 Vande Bharat Sleeper train sets. The company is expected to unveil the first prototype in June 2026. 'All the roadblocks have been cleared and now it is in advance designing stage and production has started in Latur factory. And we hope to see the first prototype in June '26. And after that, the regular production will start,' MP Singh, Director-Operations, RVNL said, according to an exchange filing. Once the trials are successful and proving trials are held and the prototype is cleared, the regular production will start. 'So, in the next financial year, that is Financial Year '26-27, along with the prototype, we expect to see the regular production of the train sets also,' he said in an earnings conference call on August 12. Speaking during the earnings conference call, Pradeep Gaur, Chairman and Managing Director, RVNL said that the order of 120 train sets will be concluded by 2032. '2032, 5 years total. There is a break up of year wise,' Gaur said, while responding to a question, according to a regulatory filing.
