Two men appear in court accused of murdering schoolboy pedestrian, 16, killed in 'hit-and-run where Audi drove towards e-bikers'
Zulkernain Ahmed, 20, and Armaan Ahmed, 26, were not asked to enter any pleas when they were remanded in custody at Sheffield Magistrates' Court accused of killing Abdullah Yaser Abdullah Al Yazidi.
The teenager was walking along Staniforth Road in the Darnall area of Sheffield last Wednesday when he was hit by an Audi car and suffered fatal injuries.
Police said officers understood that the Audi had driven towards three electric bikes, colliding with one rider, an 18-year-old man who suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries.
District Judge James Gould was told that the two defendants are both charged with the same offences, all alleged to have been committed on Wednesday June 4.
Ahmed and Ahmed, appeared alongside each other in the glass-fronted dock.
The judge told the pair: 'The next hearing in your case in respect of all of these charges is the 10th of June at the crown court in Sheffield.
'You have no right to apply for bail at this stage and accordingly you are remanded in custody and you will appear tomorrow at the Crown Court.'
During the three-minute hearing on Monday, the men, both of Locke Drive, Darnall, spoke only to give their names, dates of birth and address.
Details of the attempted murder charges were not read to the defendants, who were both represented by the same defence lawyer.
Relatives of Abdullah said last week that he had recently arrived in the UK from Yemen 'for a better future' and was devoted to his family.
He arrived in the UK two or three months ago, and was enjoying learning English ahead of starting at college in September.
Abdullah's relative Saleh Alsirkal said: 'His dad brought him over to change his life, to get a better future for his son, but this has happened and destroyed everything.'
Mr Alsirkal added that Abdullah was a 'kind boy' who just wanted to look after his family, including his three sisters.
Two people, a man aged 46 and a 45-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have both been bailed pending further inquiries, police said.

Hundreds of people including family members of Israeli hostages taken on October 7 have marched to Downing Street urging the release of those being held by Hamas. There were several flare-ups from counter protesters including one arrest as the 'national march for the hostages', organised by Stop the Hate UK and a number of Jewish organisations, made its way through central London on Sunday. A scuffle broke out after at least two men shouted 'Free Palestine' in front of the march close to Trafalgar Square. One man was seen being bundled to the ground after being surrounded by about a dozen people, while another man was seen being moved away by police officers after he began shouting. Earlier, on The Strand, a young man was kept away from the protesters after shouting 'Free Palestine'. Another man was carried away by officers after a scuffle broke out close to the gates of Downing Street. He was seen throwing water over a pro-Israel demonstrator before charging at him and putting his hand around the demonstrator's neck, before officers intervened. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said, on Friday, that Israel would seek 'the demilitarisation of the Gaza Strip', as well as 'Israeli security control in the Gaza Strip' and 'the establishment of an alternative civil administration that is neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority'. In their joint statement, the foreign ministers said the plans 'risk violating international law' and 'any attempts at annexation or of settlement extension violate international law'. Sir Keir described Israel's plans as 'wrong' and called for 'a ceasefire, a surge in humanitarian aid, the release of all hostages by Hamas and a negotiated solution'. He said the UK will recognise a Palestinian state in September unless Israel agrees to meet certain conditions, including addressing the humanitarian crisis, implementing a ceasefire and reviving the prospect of a two-state solution. But he insisted the move was not a propaganda boost to Hamas, saying the 'terrorist organisation' could play 'no part in any future government'.

Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after man, 88, found dead
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of an 88-year-old man who was found in a property in Bournemouth. At 12.57pm on Saturday, the ambulance service received a report from Dorset Police, raising concern for the welfare of a man at an address in the Winton area of the town. The 88-year-old man was found dead at the address, where a police cordon is in place while an investigation is carried out. His next of kin have been informed. The force arrested a 60-year-old woman from Bournemouth on suspicion of murder, and she remains in police custody. In a statement, police said: 'She is believed to be known to the deceased man.' Increased police presence in area Det Chief Insp Neil Third, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: 'Following the discovery of the body, we have launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained. 'I am keen to speak to anyone who has seen any suspicious activity around the address since Friday July 18 to please come forward. You may have vital details to help us establish what has happened. 'To enable us to gather as much information as possible about circumstances surrounding the man's death, and in order to provide legal protection for the individual, we have made an arrest. 'There will be an increased police presence in the area while we work to establish what has happened and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to please speak with an officer.'

Incredible moment widow HUGS husband's hit & run killer & forgives him as he bursts into tears in court
THIS is the astonishing moment a woman embraces her husband's hit-and-run killer in court and tells him he is forgiven. Joseph Tillman, 24, was sentenced to 20 years behind bars after killing Charles Johnson in a hit-and-run. 6 6 6 Johnson was riding his bike on Towne Lake Parkway, Georgia at around 3:30pm on March 3 last year when he was fatally struck by a car. Charles - better known as Chuck - was rushed to hospital where he was treated for life-threatening injuries but tragically died a week later. Tillman later pleaded guilty to charges including homicide by vehicle, drinking under the influence, and reckless driving. Incredible footage taken in court shows the moment the 24-year-old breaks down in tears as the victim's wife, Regina Johnson, turns to embrace him. The two share a long hug, prompting tears among members of the courtroom, as Regina tell the young lad she forgives him. Tillman then whispered to Regina: "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," WSB-TV 2 reports. Watching on in disbelief, Cherokee County Superior Court Judge Tony Baker said: "I don't think I've ever seen the wife of a victim hug a defendant where they killed somebody." In an interview after the trial, Regina revealed she reached for her husband's killer because "God told her he needed a mom hug". "Joey needs healing of things in his past, as we all do. And that is our heart and prayer," she said. The 24-year-old had been drinking at a sports bar and had bought whippets of Galaxy Gas - a dangerous nitrous oxide drug - before getting behind the wheel and passing out. After hitting Johnson, Tillman evaded the scene and another driver, who was also present at the time, was initially charged with the hit-and-run. Johnson has been sentenced to two decades in prison where will have to complete a two year inpatient rehab program, which could lead to suspended prison time. Speaking in court, Tillman said: 'I've committed to the long road of making amends. I've entered rehab, embraced sobriety, began the hard, humbling work of healing. I know I do not deserve peace when I've caused so much pain.' While his defense lawyer, Paul Ghanouni, added: 'He's changed his way of life and seems like he's on a trajectory to continue to move forward with his life in a positive way.' Tributes have since poured in for Chuck who had a "joy for life" and could always be seen with a wide smile on his face. One grieving resident said: "He always had a smile, a joy for life, and always a big heart. "I spent many hours with him and his family, always feeling welcome. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you." While another added: "So sorry for Chuck to have had been involved in such a tragic accident. Our sympathy to the family and may Chuck rest in peace." A third, who remembered Chuck for his generosity, said: "Chuck was a friend whose love of life, Jesus, family, theological discussions with me in various places in the world, and and gentle honesty has immeasurably enriched my life." The 78-year-old was a valued member of his community - serving in various ministries and helping in the local women's shelter. He was married to Regina for 50 years and leaves behind his two adored sons and daughter, and five cherished granddaughters. 6 6
