Family still waiting for answers two years after disappearance of St. Augustine woman
Only Action News Jax is hearing from the family of a St. Augustine woman, who has now been missing for more than two years.
Just weeks ago, deputies were seen digging at a St. Johns County property for evidence in the case of 44-year-old Laura Bryant. Despite their efforts, investigators said they found nothing.
Bryant was first reported missing in December 2022.
Her sister Beth Elrod described Bryant as having a 'very bubbly, very shiny personality, was always just happy.'
Elrod said her sister was living in St. Augustine at the time of her disappearance.
'She was living with a friend of ours, but he passed away,' said Elrod. 'And that's the first time I knew there was something wrong, when she didn't show up to his funeral.'
Law enforcement said they do have reason to believe she could be in Lake City. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office revealed it is assisting in the investigation.
Family members are still seeking answers in Bryant's disappearance.

'I want everybody out here to think this could be your sister, your daughter, your mom, and just think what we are going through and what you would want done,' said Elrod.

Killer of Jacksonville girl nearly three decades ago set to return to Duval County court
The man who killed an 8-year-old girl when he was a teenager 27 years ago is expected to return before a judge Monday morning in Duval County Circuit Court. The case against Joshua Phillips started in 1998 and he was was initially sentenced to life in prison after his conviction on a first-degree murder charge in 1999. He challenged the conviction and was resentenced in 2017. Phillips is scheduled to receive a date Monday to have that sentencing reviewed because his life sentence was deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Joshua Phillips, now 41, was 14 when he murdered 8-year-old Maddie Clifton in 1998. In a case known as Miller v. Alabama, the U.S. Supreme Court in 2012 barred mandatory sentences of life without parole for juveniles convicted of murder. Maddie Clifton disappeared Nov. 3, 1998, leading to a major search in Jacksonville. Man dies after tree falls on top of car in northeast GA
The Georgia State Patrol has identified a man who was killed in a car wreck over the weekend. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Saturday, around 6:48 p.m., GSP was called to the area of State Route 51 near Garrison Road in Banks County. When troopers arrived, they learned that Jason Keith Payne, 56, of Carnesville, was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima. Officials said that while Payne was traveling eastbound, a tree on the south side of State Route 51 fell across the road, hitting the top of the car. Payne was pronounced dead at the scene. According to GEMA, the 56-year-old is believed to have been killed when a line of storms moved through metro Atlanta on Saturday, bringing damaging winds and heavy rain. Gov. Brian Kemp shared his condolences in a post on X.
