Walker Police: Man holding a knife shot in the arm after charging at officer, BCA investigating
The Walker Police Department in Minnesota says a person holding a knife is in the hospital after charging at an officer, who in turn shot him on Friday, prompting an investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). According to the department, a resident flagged down a Walker, Minnesota police officer just after 6:30 p.m. to report a male who was only wearing boxers and "acting erratically." Nearly simultaneously, the department says a caller reported to the Cass County Sheriff's Office that a male with the same description was in front of a business on Minnesota Avenue and was holding a knife. Additional callers said multiple vehicles, either on or near that street, had punctured tires. A responding officer found the male, who then ran off, starting a chase. Eventually, the male entered a Dollar General store and threatened to kill all the workers who were there, officials say. The officer who ran after him found the male inside the store, but the suspect then allegedly threw items at, and sprayed bug spray at him. The officer reportedly gave multiple commands to drop the knife, and that's when the suspect charged, causing the officer to fire a single shot. The suspect was hit in his left arm, according to the department, which adds the injury isn't believed to be life-threatening, and the shooting was captured on a body camera worn by the officer. The suspect, whose age hasn't been released, was brought to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji. Meanwhile, the officer is on leave for the shooting. The names of both the officer and the suspect are expected to be released at a later time by the BCA.

Gran strangled in lift at Newcastle flats by crack addict who was covered in blood
A gran was left terrified when she was strangled in a lift by a crack cocaine addict who was covered in blood. It was around 3pm on March 28 this year that the victim went to visit her friend at Church Walk House, Walker, Newcastle. Jordan Parkinson, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court it was as the woman got in a lift at the flats when she was attacked by badly injured Clough, leaving her terrified. Miss Parkinson said: "He reached through, grabbing the door as they were closing. "He grabbed her by the neck, making it difficult for her to breathe. He lifted her off the floor and against the wall. The incident is captured on CCTV. He can be seen covered in blood, shouting 'give me everything you've got'. She believes he was referring to the drugs she had." My children and grandchildren live in Walker, meaning I visit there. I fear for my own safety and I'm terrified of another chance encounter occurring again." Around 45 minutes later, Clough turned up at his former partner's house, still covered in blood and in breach of a restraining order imposed for stalking her. She wasn't at home but saw him on a ring doorbell camera and he said "I've been stabbed to bits". Clough, 38, of no fixed address, who has 25 previous convictions and was on two suspended sentences - for stalking his ex and drug driving - pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation and breaching a restraining order. A previous allegation of attempted robbery was dropped. Now he has been jailed for 21 months. Recorder Toby Hedworth KC told him: "It must have been extremely frightening for her, given how she was grabbed by the throat and pinned against the side of the lift, at a time when you were covered in blood and shouting at her." Kate Barnes, defending, said: "He had visited the flats in question to buy drugs. While there, he was attacked viciously, with a machete to his head, arms and legs. "It was a chance encounter (with the woman in the lift) and he does know her. He remonstrated with her because he thought she had taken property from him while they were taking drugs. "He doesn't accept he made any threats to take her property. It's clear from the footage there was no attempt to take the bag she was carrying. "Having assaulted her, he want to the closest property he knew of, which was his previous partner's address, to do no more than seek assistance from her, bleeding heavily as he was. He is extremely apologetic for any upset he may have caused her." Miss Barnes added that Clough, who has worked in the past and had his own business, was addicted to crack cocaine at the time of the offences.
