Prime minister participates in meeting between ministerial committee on Gaza with Madrid Group, European countries
MADRID: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has participated in the expanded meeting between the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on developments in Gaza, the Madrid Group, and a number of European countries, held Sunday in Madrid, Spain.
The meeting discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and the international efforts aimed at halting the war and ending the humanitarian suffering in the Strip. They also discussed the ongoing preparations for the high-level international conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York in June, under the joint chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic.
Members of the Ministerial Committee emphasized the importance of joint cooperation to ensure the success of the high-level international conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, by providing clear commitments, concrete steps, and tangible support on the political, economic, and security levels.
The committee members stressed the importance of implementing the two-state solution on the basis of relevant international resolutions, ensuring the Palestinian people's inherent right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. In the same context, they appreciated the efforts of the Madrid Group and European countries in supporting these efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
The committee members voiced their hope for the success of the Qatari-Egyptian-American mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire and the release of prisoners and detainees. They also emphasized the importance of ending the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, opening all crossings immediately and unconditionally, and ensuring the flow of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to meet the needs of the Strip's population.
Members of the Ministerial Committee condemned the repeated violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against civilians in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of confronting all Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
The committee members also reiterated their support for early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the Arab reconstruction plan adopted at the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo. They also reiterated their support for the international conference that Egypt intends to host in Cairo, in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations, on the reconstruction of the Strip.
The committee members commended the reforms launched by the Palestinian government, reiterating the committee's unwavering support for all measures that achieve the interests and aspirations of the fraternal Palestinian people and ensure their security, stability, and prosperity.

'Their efforts will not succeed. No fabricated documents will weaken the bond between Qatar and the United States,' added the statement. The Media Office also urged all media outlets to remain vigilant against misinformation spread by those who want to disrupt the negotiations by any means necessary in order to prolong the conflict.

QNA Geneva Minister of Labour HE Dr Ali bin Samikh Al Marri has reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to supporting the International Labour Organisation's(ILO) mission and to cooperating with international partners to promote social justice and build a future based on decent work and respect for human dignity. This came as the State of Qatar participated in the General Session of the 113th International Labour Conference (ILC) held in Geneva on Monday. Dr Al Marri headed the State of Qatar's delegation. The current session of the International Labour Conference brings together nearly 5,000 participants from 187 member states, including governments, employers, and workers. The conference brought together ministers of Labour, heads of delegations, and representatives of workers and employers from the International Labour Organization's (ILO) member states. Qatar's participation, represented by a senior delegation from the Ministry of Labour, highlights the country's ongoing commitment to engage actively with international organizations and maintain dialogue on the evolving global labour landscape. In his speech, Dr Al Marri highlighted Qatar's comprehensive reforms aimed at developing its labour market over recent years. The reforms focus on key areas such as strengthening the legislative and regulatory framework for occupational health and safety, as well as implementing extensive awareness and training programmes for both workers and labour inspectors. Qatar has also built strong partnerships with the ILO to promote decent work practices, especially in critical sectors. He voiced the State of Qatar's appreciation for the ILO's continued efforts to promote social justice and decent work at the regional and global levels. He noted that the Director-General's report offers an honest and thorough analysis of the structural challenges facing labour markets amid global crises. He stressed that social justice is no longer just an ideal, but a necessary foundation for social stability and peace. Dr Al Marri emphasized that the report highlights the importance of embedding democratic values, participation, and fairness in building resilient and fair labour systems. Reaffirming Qatar's strong support, the Minister of Labour also spoke in favour of elevating the status of the State of Palestine in international organisations. He warmly welcomed the decision to grant Palestine 'Non-Member Observer State' status at the ILO. He described this as a clear endorsement of the organisation's commitment to justice and legitimacy, as well as recognition of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and dignified existence. Among the key issues under discussion are the Director-General's report, titled 'Jobs, Rights and Growth,' and a report on the situation of workers in the occupied Arab territories. The conference agenda also covers topics such as protection against biological hazards in the workplace and decent work in the platform economy, with the first-ever discussion on setting standards. Additionally, the conference explores innovative approaches to addressing the informal economy and encouraging formal employment. Held annually in Geneva, the International Labour Conference, often called the global parliament of labour, sets the ILO's public policies, including conventions and recommendations.
