Boston College Football Preview 2025: Eagles Season Prediction, Win Total Projection, Top Players
Stop being totally miserable in the red zone. The Eagles were among the worst teams in America when getting inside the 20-yard line. Not only did they come up with just three field goals on the season - two in the win over North Carolina - but the offense scored touchdowns just 65% of the time.It was a problem throughout the year and was a killer in the bowl loss to Nebraska, scoring just twice in five trips.
Boston College Eagles Key Player
Jude Bowry, OT Jr.The line was okay for the ground game, and it wasn't a huge problem overall, but it struggled in pass protection, and that was with All-ACC stars Ozzy Trapilo and Drew Kendall.Bowry and guard Logan Taylor on the left side are the veterans the offense has to work around, and then hope everything works out with … - Boston College Team Preview
Boston College Eagles Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss
Top Transfer In: Amir Johnson, OG Jr.The interior of the Eagle line needed pieces. Johnson isn't huge, but the Merrimack transfer can move, and he fits exactly what the line needs at left guard. Combine him with Princeton transfer Tommy Matheson, and BC might have fixed the glitch.Top Transfer Out: Thomas Castellanos, QB Sr.Boston College is fine at quarterback, and the coaches are good at getting them rolling, but Castellanos was a fun playmaker. He didn't run last year like he did in his 1,113-yard, 13-touchdown 2023, but he'll be on the move this year at Florida State.
Boston College Eagles Key Game
at Pitt, Oct. 4If the Eagles are any good, they get by Stanford in Palo Alto and Cal at home to go 2-0 in the ACC. The problem is what comes next in conference play after the trip to Pitt - Clemson, at Louisville, Notre Dame, SMU.- 2025 Boston College Schedule Breakdown

Boston College 2025 Season Prediction, Win Total, What Will Happen
There's a bit too much to do to improve on both sides of the ball to be better than the 7-5 regular season of last year. The 2024 team was all over the place with one of the least consistent teams in the ACC, but at least the schedule should be helpful. In a strange quirk, there's just a trip to Louisville between October 11 and the season finale at Syracuse. Clemson, Notre Dame, and SMU are all difficult, but all three games are in Chestnut Hill.
There aren't enough sure-thing wins to feel comfortable, but again, it's Boston College. It'll either finish with six or seven wins.Set The Boston College Eagles Win Total At … 6Likely Wins: Fordham50/50 Games: Cal, Georgia Tech, at Louisville, at Michigan State, at Pitt, SMU, at Stanford, at SyracuseLikely Losses: Clemson, Notre Dame- Boston College Team Preview

Young shows his class as wayward Dockers crush Eagles
Fremantle midfielder Hayden Young has showcased what a weapon he will be in the club's AFL premiership push as the Dockers brushed aside West Coast by 49 points in a fiery western derby clash. Young tallied 23 disposals, seven clearances, three goals and 555m gained to win the Glendinning-Allan Medal in the 18.18 (126) to 12.5 (77) triumph in front of 54,384 fans at Optus Stadium on Saturday. The 24-year-old came on as the sub in his first game back from hamstring surgery in last week's one-point win over Collingwood, but he was unleashed from the very start of Saturday's game before being subbed out early in the last. Hayden Young is so classy 👌#AFLFreoEagles — AFL (@AFL) July 26, 2025 Young was the dominant figure of the opening term, and his ruthlessness in front of goal when his teammates continually missed was another sign of just how important he is to the club's flag push. Michael Frederick kicked a career-high four goals, Andrew Brayshaw racked up 32 disposals and eight clearances, while rising star Murphy Reid (23 disposals, one goal) tallied a whopping 15 score involvements. Four-time Glendinning-Allan Medallist Caleb Serong had to work hard for his 20 disposals and eight clearances under a tight tag from Brady Hough. For West Coast, defender Reuben Ginbey kept Josh Treacy goalless from nine disposals, Tim Kelly found form with 26 disposals, eight clearances and two goals, and Harley Reid (15 disposals, three clearances, two goals) battled hard amidst the boos. Reid limped off in the dying minutes and headed to the change rooms after being crunched in a tackle by Karl Worner. The win keeps Fremantle (13-6) within percentage of the top four, while West Coast (1-18) have lost nine on the trot and are headed for their second wooden spoon in three seasons. West Coast were forced into a late change when defender Harry Edwards injured his hamstring in the warm-up, Harley Reid was target No.1 in the opening quarter. First, he was involved in a wrestle with Fremantle veteran Jaeger O'Meara. Then later in the term, he was caught unaware when he was flattened in an off-the-ball bump from Patrick Voss (three goals). West Coast kept pace with Fremantle early, but two goals in a minute to Frederick, followed by two goals in a minute to Young, blew the scoreboard out to 40-12 by quarter-time. Fremantle's 14-7 clearance count in the opening quarter was ominous, with Young tallying 10 disposals, five clearances and two goals in a brilliant individual display. Frederick's third goal stretched the margin to 35 points early in the third quarter, but a dose of Harley Reid magic gave Eagles fans something to smile about. Reid received a handpass on the wing and took a running bounce before nailing a goal from 47m. Harley Reid is an absolute star 🤩#AFLFreoEagles — AFL (@AFL) July 26, 2025 Fremantle dominated the rest of the quarter, but their wasteful return of 1.6 meant the half-time margin was only 22 points. The Dockers' wobbles continued early in the third quarter as West Coast cut the margin to 18 points. But goals to Jye Amiss and Voss - each of which was followed by a mini melee - gave Fremantle breathing space, before Young added another later in the quarter. Fremantle blew the margin wide open with the first four goals of the final term.

Behind the scenes with Boston College football coach Bill O'Brien at ACC media day
On the par-3 16th hole at Cummaquid Golf Club the day prior, playing with his son Michael and two friends, O'Brien (a 20-handicap) one-hopped the ball directly into the hole on a windy day. He's had more satisfying experiences in coaching, but as an athlete ... Advertisement 'It might be No. 1,' O'Brien said giddily. 'It was unbelievable.' Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up Everyone knows O'Brien as a passionate and fiery coach, but a day spent alongside him on the Challenger 604 jet that flew him and the four players traveling to media day — Lewis Bond, Daveon Crouch, KP Price, and Logan Taylor — revealed his jovial, thoughtful, and sympathetic side. 'Seinfeld' and 'The Office' are two of his favorite shows, and Kramer and Michael Scott are his favorite characters. He's an avid reader who often juggles three books at a time. He cuts his sausage, egg, and cheese with a fork. He's a big Advertisement O'Brien sat back and let others approach during a hectic and fast-paced day at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown. When they did, he had thoughtful questions about family or summer travels. 'He sees everything,' said close friend Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien completed 21 interviews throughout the ACC's football media day. Trevor Hass After collectively marveling at the hole-in-one, the Eagles boarded the plane in Bedford at 5:54 a.m. in a single-file line. O'Brien and Najarian sat in the front, the players scattered in the back joined by two staffers. Some napped while others chatted, ate breakfast sandwiches, and ran through what they planned to say at the event. O'Brien used part of the plane ride to finalize his talking points and cement his knowledge of each player's background and development. He asked creative producer Jordan Arnold to minimize the pictures of him throughout the day, if possible. 'You don't want this fat face,' he cracked. O'Brien said he's going to the gym as much as he can and insisted he'll be down 30 pounds before the season opens against Fordham on Aug. 30. As the plane approached landing, O'Brien tied his red Vineyard Vines tie to his white shirt, dark blue suit, and blue and white shoes. He did so from his seat — no mirror, in 15 seconds, on the first try. Advertisement 'I'm a pro,' he said. 'It's not my first rodeo.' Taylor and Price each emerged from the tiny bathroom in the back after changing, and O'Brien had quips ready. He said he had no idea how the 6-foot-7-inch, 308-pound lineman Taylor fit in there and that Price, a stylish safety, came out looking like a movie star. 'It wasn't that bad,' Taylor insisted. At 7:56 a.m., O'Brien put on his sunglasses and shifted from Bill to Coach O'Brien. He stepped outside at the executive terminal of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, where a sizable black van greeted the Eagles. Price took selfies outside as his teammates laughed. After a 24-minute ride, the BC contingent arrived at the hotel, took the elevator to the third floor, and sat in a largely empty room waiting for the next step. Just before 9 a.m., a surprise visitor approached the table. Related : O'Brien beamed as he told him about his 155-yard hole-in-one. Belichick congratulated him and shared that he has one as well — that just so happened to be a 200-yarder. They lamented that they missed each other on Nantucket this year and promised to catch up there next summer. As the conversation unfolded, the BC players tried to look at their phones and keep to themselves, yet inevitably stared at the rare scene unfolding in front of them. 'My skin is on fire right now,' whispered Crouch, a linebacker. Advertisement Four minutes later, longtime Clemson coach Dabo Swinney bounced over to the table to shake O'Brien's hand. O'Brien gushed about the hole-in-one again, to which Swinney replied that he didn't have one before veering the conversation to football. 'We're playing the Patriots organization in the month of October,' said Swinney, whose Tigers visit North Carolina (Oct. 4) and BC (Oct. 11) in consecutive weeks. 'Unbelievable.' Next up was Drew Fabianich, the director of the Reese's Senior Bowl, who brought pamphlets to each of the players. O'Brien reminisced about his Senior Bowl triumph in 2018, when his team, led by Mike White, throttled Baker Mayfield's squad, 45-16. He said he reminds Mayfield every time he sees him. After an hour-plus of schmoozing and reminiscing, O'Brien and the players took the podium at 10 a.m. and fielded questions centered predominantly around how the team can take the next step. 'Why not us?' said Bond, a wide receiver. 'Why can't it be us?' Related : O'Brien did an interview on ACC Network, then ventured to the lobby to conduct eight more, ranging from North Carolina Sports Network to the Louisville Courier Journal, across two hours. He was ready for anything, from Belichick to Bond, operating on autopilot while also ensuring he gave detailed and specific answers. 'Sorry it's the wrong Bill,' O'Brien joked. 'It's the Irishman from Boston.' O'Brien is a seasoned veteran at these types of events. He finds a way to remain genuine while also not saying anything controversial. Nothing fazes him, and he compliments interviewers when a question truly intrigues. He texted his wife, Colleen, in between segments, then dutifully moved to the next obligation. Advertisement During one interview, he glanced at a text from Patriots coach 'Just call me Ace,' O'Brien said. Then came more TV interviews, as O'Brien continued to cruise on an empty stomach. He conducted 21 over six hours, with just one bathroom break. Finally, the day concluded at 4:04 p.m., and the players and O'Brien signed autographs before arriving at the van, where Chick-fil-A was waiting. They ran into Swinney again at the airport, and he asked Taylor to shrink a few inches before October. After a hectic day, Bill O'Brien still carved out time to sign autographs outside the hotel in Charlotte, N.C. Trevor Hass The plane departed at 4:58 p.m. O'Brien's first yawn of the day came at 5:10 p.m., then he took a power nap for 25 minutes before perking up as the plane prepared to land. 'All right, guys,' he said when they hit the ground. 'See you Tuesday. Rock and roll.' When a cart outside the plane only fit some of the group, O'Brien let Price, Taylor, Bond, and Crouch take the seats and chose to walk back himself. Rejuvenated and ready to attack the next day with a similar vigor, he turned, offered a slight smile, and continued to move forward. 'Players first,' he said. Trevor Hass can be reached at

Commanders WR Deebo Samuel kept receipts
A post shared by Deebo Samuel (@1deebosr) Deebo Samuel did not forget some of the terrible things said about him this offseason. You can see it in the workout videos that those close to Samuel have shared. His personal trainer recently said Samuel weighed 220 pounds. Could you imagine trying to tackle Samuel in the open field? During last month's minicamp, a video of Samuel jogging during a route went viral. There was nothing to it. Of course, social media engagement accounts "like" and share the photo, with some snarky comments, either insinuating that Samuel was out of shape or giving a half-hearted effort. Samuel has the receipts. In a video shared on his Instagram on Friday, Samuel shared several of those X posts in rapid-fire fashion, mixed in with his workouts, whether in the weight room or on the field. He even offered a two-finger salute to his "critics." Check it out: Samuel has always played with a chip on his shoulder. When he was traded in March, that chip grew. He's also playing in the final year of his contract, so he has much to prove. He's seen all of the nasty comments mocking him — mostly from Eagles fans — and he's out to prove the Commanders were correct in trading for him. While it's early, Samuel has looked terrific in training camp. The Commanders believe they're getting the best of a motivated Samuel in 2025. Washington fans hope he saves some of that anger for the two Philadelphia meetings late in the season.
