Kurt Busch Comment Unexpectedly Sparks Chorus of Boos From Pocono Crowd
Kurt Busch and his fans will never forget Pocono Raceway. There are good memories from the 2.5-mile Pennsylvania track, including three wins in 2005, 2007 and 2016.

But there's a really bad one that happened on July 23, 2022. That's the last time the 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion ever competed in the sport when he backed his No. 45 car into the wall during qualifying and suffered a concussion.
On Saturday, the 46-year-old returned to The Tricky Triangle for the first time since his accident three years ago and admitted during Prime's coverage of practice and qualifying that it was a 'cleansing/purging' experience.

The scheduled Grand Marshal for Sunday's race then drew an unexpected response from fans when asked by analyst Corey LaJoie if he was going to wave the green flag as part of his weekend duties.

'I'm gonna be 'Gentlemen, start your engines,'' the former driver said. 'The governor wants to wave the green flag so I'm learning how to share with that.'
A chorus of boos rang out from those standing nearby, obviously expressing their displeasure with Governor Josh Shapiro.
'Whoops. Normally I'm the guy getting booed,' Busch joked. 'No, you guys have been awesome.'
Busch rubbed plenty of fans the wrong way earlier in his career. However, in the later years, the tide had turned and many of those same fans were supportive of the 2017 Daytona 500 winner. And there was no better evidence of that than three years ago when his career came to an abrupt end at Pocono and he received so many well wishes from those fans and the industry as a whole.

Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders injures his oblique during practice in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders sustained an oblique injury during drills early in practice Wednesday and did not play the rest of the session. Sanders and the Browns were in Philadelphia for a pair of joint practices ahead of Saturday's preseason game. The Browns did not offer any additional information on Sanders' availability for the rest of the week. Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards with two first-half touchdown passes to Kaden Davis in his NFL preseason debut in a win over Carolina on Friday night. The performance by Hall of Famer Deion Sanders' son even caught the attention of NBA star LeBron James. 'That young (man) looking good out there,' James wrote. 'Keep going UP!!! HEAD down on the grind and HEAD high to the most high.' The Browns took Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the NFL draft. He wasn't selected until the 144th overall pick, a stunning fall for the most recognizable player in this draft class. Sanders finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy balloting last season for Colorado and threw for a school-record 4,134 yards last season. He is part of a crowded Browns quarterback room as Deshaun Watson is expected to sit out this season with a torn Achilles tendon. The group also includes Kenny Pickett, 40-year-old Joe Flacco and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, who was responsible for a Football Bowl Subdivision-record 188 total touchdowns during a six-year career that included stops at Central Florida, Oklahoma and Oregon. Pickett has been slowed in training camp with a hamstring injury and Gabriel experienced a tight hamstring. ___ AP NFL:

Shedeur Sanders' starting chances take hit after suffering oblique injury in training camp
Shedeur Sanders got good news earlier Wednesday when the Cleveland Browns announced that he would start their next preseason game if Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel were still injured. However, the rookie quarterback suffered an injury himself, potentially hurting his own chances. Skepticism was out when it was learned that Sanders did not get any team reps during Wednesday's practice. Afterward, the Browns revealed Sanders suffered an oblique injury. Sanders suffered the injury while throwing early in practice, and was held out for the remainder of the practice period. The severity of the injury is unknown, but more will come about in the next few joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles before the two foes meet in a preseason bout on Saturday. Sanders got the starting nod last Friday against the Carolina Panthers and impressed. He was 14-for-23 passing with 138 yards and two touchdowns. The odds were already stacked against Sanders, as he's in a crowded quarterback room that includes Pickett, Gabriel (who was drafted two rounds ahead of Sanders), and Joe Flacco. Deshaun Watson is also rehabbing a twice-torn Achilles. Sanders has been listed as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart, behind Flacco, Pickett and Gabriel, respectively. When pressed further about when a decision will come on the season starter, head coach Kevin Stefanski said they will have a better idea following this week's contest. "I think you take everything into account, but we'll see how we get through this week and then make a decision – make a decision on when to make a decision," he said. Flacco has taken the majority of first team reps with Pickett still limited because of a hamstring injury. Gabriel, too, is nursing a hamstring. Earlier in camp, Sanders had to wait patiently to get reps with the first team, as the three other quarterbacks all did so. He has been getting the majority of his reps with third-stringers, but he said it "doesn't really faze me." Sanders also dealt with shoulder soreness earlier this month.
