Easy Registry speeds up property registrations in Mohali, clears 4,000 applications in 15 days

Mohali: The newly launched Easy Registry system has significantly streamlined the property registration process in Mohali, cutting down wait times and boosting overall efficiency.
Introduced on May 27 by Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the system aims to eliminate corruption and provide a hassle-free experience for property owners.
According to officials, the Easy Registry system has processed over 4,000 applications within just 15 days, with an average clearance time of two hours. If all documents are ready and pre-approved, the registration process takes less than 10 minutes.
Mohali deputy commissioner Komal Mittal said, "The system takes less than 10 minutes for pre-approved applications with complete documentation. Only applications with missing documents or objections are deferred. For all others, the process is completed almost instantly."
On average, 266 property registrations are being completed daily under the new system. The district revenue department has received nearly 5,000 applications since its launch and has successfully cleared 80% of them.

Among the various subdivisions, Kharar led with 1,125 successful registrations, followed by Zirakpur with 1,081, Mohali with 859, Derabassi 463, Majri 353, Banur 81, and Gharuan 45.

He also underscored India's robust economic growth rate of 6.5%, which is significantly higher than the approximately 2% growth rates of the UK, Japan, and Germany. KYC update pain may ease as RBI rejigs rules
Representative image MUMBAI: RBI has eased KYC norms to simplify compliance and to make it easier for individuals to access long-dormant bank accounts and unclaimed deposits, many of which have remained untouched for over 10 years. The move, announced through a circular on June 12, aims to ensure that anti-money laundering rules do not hinder rightful account holders from accessing their savings particularly in accounts opened to receive government benefits. RBI has asked banks to give three advance intimations prior to the due date of periodic updation of KYC and at least one intimation must be by letter. In the past customers have complained that digital alerts have been missed and they only come to know when they are not able to transact on their account. The central bank has also asked banks to allow KYC updates at any branch, irrespective of where the account was opened. It has also permitted the use of Aadhaar OTP and video-based customer identification for periodic KYC updates. Business correspondents, especially in rural areas, can now assist customers with reactivating inoperative accounts and completing KYC requirements.
