Former US president Joe Biden is being subjected to further medical assessment after physicians found a small nodule on his prostate during a routine physical examination, as per reports confirmed by a spokesperson who was talking to ABC News. The nodule, which has been described as "small," is not unusual among older men and may be completely benign or represent more severe conditions, such as prostate cancer, as per Daily Mail. Physicians have yet to determine whether the growth is cancerous but further tests would be conducted to establish its nature. The 82-year-old, who was the nation's oldest serving president, has come under heightened scrutiny for his health in recent years. Towards the end of his term, his health had started deteriorating so much that some aids started to weigh whether he needed to use a wheelchair, as per a forthcoming book called the 'Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again', which is coming out on May 20, reported Daily Mail. However, in February 2024, when he was still in office, he was determined "fit to serve" by his doctor after a comprehensive checkup at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, as per Daily Mail report. That was just months before he decided to abruptly cut short his second-term campaign bid and let the then-Vice President Kamala Harris take over the campaign, according to the report. The timing of Biden's exit from the race left many Democrats stunned, with some saying that the decision came too late to allow Harris or any other possible contenders a fair shot against Republican nominee Donald Trump, as per Daily Mail. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said over the weekend that the party would have been "better served" by holding a primary election in 2024, rather than defaulting to the incumbent, reported Daily Mail.Since leaving the White House, Biden has remained relatively quiet, but he and former First Lady Jill Biden appeared together in a joint interview last week on ABC's The View program, according to the report. As of now, doctors haven't confirmed whether the nodule is cancerous. Further testing is needed to determine its nature. There's no public indication that he was experiencing symptoms. The nodule was found during a routine physical.

‘Can't Call In National Guard...': Trump's 2020 Video Goes Viral Amid Los Angeles Riots

Last Updated: Trump deployed National Guard troops in Los Angeles to quell pro-immigration protests. This was criticised by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who vowed to sue President for it. Amid tensions mounting between Donald Trump and California Democrats over his decision to deploy National Guard troops to Los Angeles to stop pro-immigration protests, the US President's 2020 video has gone viral, in which he said he 'can't call in the National Guard unless requested by a governor." In a televised interview with ABC nearly five years ago, Trump had cited 'going by the laws", according to which the Governor has to request for the National Guard to control an escalating situation in the state. 'I have restored law and order. Except in Democrat-run cities. We have to go by the laws. We can't move in the National Guard. I can call insurrection, but there's no reason to ever do that, even in a Portland case. We can't call in the National Guard unless we're requested by the governor," he said in the old video that has now resurfaced after his National Guard decision in 2025. 'We can't call in the National Guard unless we're requested by a governor." – Donald Trump, 2020Oops — Spencer Hakimian (@SpencerHakimian) June 10, 2025 Los Angeles Riots Notably on Monday, in a dramatic escalation of tensions, California Governor Gavin Newsom vowed to sue Trump for the deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles, accusing his administration of violating federal laws by cracking down on pro-immigration protesters. Newsom said that the Trump government's decision to arrest the protesters from the city through the deployment of National Guard without consultation with the Governor is 'illegal and immoral". Notably, the National Guard is controlled jointly by the federal and state governments in the US. Trump reacted sharply to Newsom's criticism and dubbed him 'incompetent" and described his call to move in the National Guard as 'a great decision". 'We made a great decision in sending the National Guard to deal with the violent, instigated riots in California. If we had not done so, Los Angeles would have been completely obliterated. The very incompetent 'Governor," Gavin Newscum, and 'Mayor," Karen Bass, should be saying, 'THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR." Instead, they choose to lie to the People of California and America by saying that we weren't needed, and that these are 'peaceful protests'," Trump posted on Truth Social. Trump's old clip on governor's nod for National Guard is viral amid California row

An old video from 2020 of Donald Trump is doing the rounds, in which he is seen saying that he can't call in the National Guard "unless we're requested by a governor." Amid rising tensions between Trump and California Democrats over his administration's deployment of more than 4,100 National Guard members to the Los Angeles area in a bid to rein in pro-immigration protesters, the clip from his first term as president has an interview with ABC, Trump said, "I have restored law and order. Except in Democrat-run cities. We have to go by the laws. We can't move in the National Guard. I can call insurrection, but there's no reason to ever do that, even in a Portland case. We can't call in the National Guard unless we're requested by the governor." Five years later, California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday stated that he would sue the US President for ordering a crackdown on pro-immigration protesters while overlooking federal laws. Soon after Newsom's announcement, Trump ordered 700 US Marines and an additional 2,000 National Guard troops to be deployed alongside 2,000 National Guard members already stationed in Los Angeles as mass protests against the US President's crackdown on immigration entered its fourth In an interview with MSNBC, Newsom went a step further, calling Trump administration's move to arrest protesters off the streets of Los Angeles by deploying the "state's National Guard without consulting the Governor of that state is illegal and immoral." National Guard units are jointly controlled by the US federal government and the state Newsom's claims, Trump was quick to call him "incompetent" on his Truth Social platform. Trump flexes strongman instincts with US military at Los Angeles protests

WASHINGTON: US Donald Trump likes to show off his strongman credentials at cage fights and military parades. And over the weekend, the US president did it by sending troops into Los Angeles (LA). Trump deployed the National Guard after clashes sparked by immigration raids, marking the first time since 1965 that a president has done so without a request by a state governor. His administration said Monday it was also sending 700 active-duty Marines to America's second largest city. The moves once again showed Trump pushing presidential power to its limits at the start of a second term that has begun with what critics say is a distinctly authoritarian edge. The Republican has warned that troops could be sent "everywhere" -- sparking fears that he will send the military out into the streets across America to crack down on protests and dissent. "It's a slippery slope," William Banks, a law professor at Syracuse University, told AFP. "If the president tries to do more, he's cutting against the grain in the United States of a long history of leaving law enforcement to civilians." The protests in LA are in many ways the showdown that Trump has been waiting for. The US president has been spoiling for a fight against California's Democratic governor Gavin Newsom, and he is now doing so on his signature issue of immigration. Newsom has bitterly accused the "dictatorial" president of manufacturing the crisis for political gain -- while Trump suggested the governor, a potential 2028 presidential contender, could be arrested. Democratic California senator Alex Padilla slammed what he called "the behavior of an authoritarian government." Rights groups have also opposed it. Hina Shamsi of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said in a statement that Trump's response was "unnecessary, inflammatory, and an abuse of power."
