What Is 'Spaceballs'?
Directed by Mel Brooks, "Spaceballs" is a spoof parody of "Star Wars". Instead of The Force, in "Spaceballs" there is a power called "The Schwartz." Instead of Darth Vader, there's Lord Dark Helmet. Han Solo is replaced with Lone Starr, and his sidekick is the half-man, half-dog named Barf, played by the late John Candy.
While its main target is "Star Wars", "Spaceballs" has pokes fun at plenty of other sci-fi films and franchises, including "Alien", "Star Trek", "Transformers", and "2001: A Space Odyssey".
Where Can You Watch 'Spaceballs'?
While it's going to be a bit before anyone can watch "Spaceballs 2", you can stream the original "Spaceballs" on HBO Max.
What Is 'Spaceballs 2' About?
Plot details of "Spaceballs 2" are being kept under wraps. However, the film's logline calls it a "Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film."
When Will 'Spaceballs 2' Release?
There is no firm release date yet for "Spaceballs 2", but it is scheduled to bow sometime in 2027.
Is Mel Brooks Returning For 'Spaceballs 2'?
Mel Brooks has been confirmed to return to the role of the Yoda-esque wise man Yogurt for "Spaceballs 2". There's no word on whether or not he might also play President Skroob, whom he played in the first film.
While Brooks will appear in "Spaceballs 2", he isn't directing this time around. Instead, Josh Greenbaum of "Will & Harper" fame is helming the sequel.
Who Is In 'Spaceballs 2'?
The cast of "Spaceballs 2" is being led by Josh Gad and Keke Palmer. Palmer will play a character named Destiny, while Gad's role is unknown.
Along with Brooks returning as Yogurt, Rick Moranis is breaking his long acting hiatus to reprise the role of the Darth Vader send-up, Lord Dark Helmet. Bill Pullman will return to play Lone Starr, and Daphne Zuniga returns as Queen Vespa.
While he has not officially confirmed he will return, Tim Russ of "Star Trek: Voyager" fame - who had a small speaking role in the original "Spaceballs" - hinted that he would also be in the sequel.

‘Andor' Star Stellan Skarsgård Was the Ultimate ‘Star Wars' Script Rulebreaker
The level of secrecy on Disney's prized franchises is known to be on another level. Between Marvel and Star Wars, script and set leaks are something the studio wants to keep the spigot closed on. But it turns out that sometimes tight security makes the work challenging for its stars, including certain cast members of the hit Disney+ show Andor. The nugget of behind the scenes lore was revealed while Andor star Diego Luna, who is currently doing a stint hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live, had own his Star Wars universe co-star Adria Arjona on to reminisce about shooting the Disney+ series. He brought up that production resorted to high-tech alternatives for its actors to learn their lines. 'They wouldn't print a script for you because you would lose it. So we would have iPads to work,' Luna explained of the protocol before asking Arjona how she fared under that decree. 'I didn't use it,' she admitted, 'I took pictures of it and I printed the whole script.' As in pictures of the screen, which Luna cracked was very much in line with the spies they played on the Tony Gilroy show. 'You were so mad at me the first time in rehearsal. You looked at me like, 'Adria, they're gonna find out!' You were so paranoid.' Arjona revealed, 'And my answer was like, 'Stellan [Skarsgård] did it too.' I just completely threw Stellan under the bus.' 'I remember that. Stellan didn't give an [expletive],' Luna said. 'He was like, 'Yes, I've been doing it.'' Arjona continued, 'I just kept doing it. Season two, I did it too.' She explained, 'I just need the paper. I need to write things down. [The iPad script] also has so many passwords and then I would have ADD and then do something else and then it would lock me out … it was so complicated. So I printed it.' Since the ending of Andor featured Arjona's character holding a real hell of a twist in her arms, we'd say she was successful. Watch the rest of the interview below: Want more io9 news? Couple Returns From Vacation, Unprepared for What They Find at Home: 'Help'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A couple returning to their home in Spain after vacation stopped dead in their tracks after discovering spiders had taken over the house. Julia, who is known on TikTok as @guavouk, explained in a June 11 video how scared she was after coming home and noticing not one or two, but several groups of tiny, black items peppered on the walls and ceilings of her home. Upon closer look, she realized these black figures had eight legs. Her nightmare just got worse. They were clusters of spiders spread throughout the house. The clip shows at least a dozen different spots on the walls and ceilings where the spiders have congregated, mainly all overhead. Some of the clusters appear to have three or four, while others had as many as 20 spiders. She kept repeating to herself "why," as she went from one room to the next, zooming in on the creepy crawlies. Hoping to get some answers, she took to TikTok and asked what was happening: "Help, is this normal?" But even if she received a logical explanation, she wrote in the caption that her mind is made up: "I guess we're moving." Screenshots from a June 11 TikTok video of a woman freaked out after coming home from vacation to a house filled with spiders. Screenshots from a June 11 TikTok video of a woman freaked out after coming home from vacation to a house filled with spiders. @guavouk/TikTok She thought this issue had been resolved before going on vacation. She told Newsweek via TikTok: "I actually had a neighbour come clear the same amount of spiders the week prior." But the spiders returned, and so did the horror. Even her partner looked distressed, walking around the house with his hands on his head. With seemingly no explanation or solution at the moment, they're left puzzled. A cleanup of the spiders is only met with more spiders. "It's been progressively getting worse and worse," she said. "They just seem to move in overnight." Viewer Reactions Feeling the same, grossed-out sentiment, TikTok viewers flooded the comment section with their disgust, claiming that it is now the spiders' house. The clip amassed over 192,600 views, 8,395 likes and 542 comments as of Tuesday. "I would have to call my insurance company to tell them my house burnt down," commented a viewer, while a second person said: "I'd simply pass away." A third added: "Sorry, but I couldn't step foot in there." Another wrote: "And I immediately went on vacation again." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
