Alexandr Wang educational qualifications: How an MIT dropout built a $29 billion AI empire
In the quiet scientific corridors of Los Alamos, New Mexico—home to some of the world's top physicists—Alexandr Wang was born into brilliance. His parents, both Chinese immigrants and nuclear physicists at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, were no strangers to pushing boundaries. But no one could have predicted that their son, a teenager with a curious mind and a fascination for data, would one day become one of the youngest billionaires steering the future of artificial intelligence. Wang's story isn't one of tradition—it's one of bold decisions, sharp intellect, and a relentless pursuit of innovation. A leap from MIT to Silicon Valley Before stepping into the world of startups, Wang was already sharpening his technical skills at Quora. He enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the most prestigious engineering schools in the world. But traditional education couldn't hold his attention for long. Within a year, Wang made a defining move—dropping out of MIT and joining the startup accelerator Y Combinator. It was there, in 2016, that he teamed up with Lucy Guo, a fellow Quora alum, to launch Scale AI. The company focused on a behind-the-scenes but vital task in the AI revolution: supplying large volumes of high-quality, human-labelled data. Their work quickly became foundational for systems like OpenAI 's ChatGPT and self-driving car algorithms. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Scale AI's meteoric rise In just two years, Wang and Guo found themselves on Forbes ' '30 Under 30' list for enterprise technology. However, their partnership was short-lived. Guo left the company amid reported differences over product vision—though some sources suggest she was forced out. Despite the internal turbulence, Scale AI soared. By 2019, the company had reached unicorn status after raising $100 million from Peter Thiel's Founders Fund. A few years later, another massive fundraising round brought in $580 million, valuing the company at $7 billion. At 24, Wang became the world's youngest self-made billionaire. Partnering with Meta for the future of AI In a major development reported by Reuters, Meta recently acquired a 49% stake in Scale AI for $15 billion, placing the company's valuation at over $29 billion. The partnership wasn't just about money. It marked a strategic leap in the AI race. As part of the agreement, Alexandr Wang now leads a 50-person research lab at Meta dedicated to building artificial superintelligence (ASI)—AI systems designed to surpass human cognitive abilities. The move signals Meta's serious intent to rival OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft in next-gen AI innovation. A vision beyond billion-dollar valuations From his beginnings in New Mexico to leading a multibillion-dollar company and shaping Meta's AI research, Alexandr Wang has followed an unconventional but visionary path. His journey reflects the new face of tech leadership—young, bold, and deeply rooted in data. Still in his twenties, Wang isn't just building tools for today's AI. He's helping define what artificial intelligence will mean for the world tomorrow. Is your child ready for the careers of tomorrow? Enroll now and take advantage of our early bird offer! PEKB becomes Chhattisgarh's first solar-powered coal mine, sets new benchmark in sustainable mining
RAIPUR: In a ground breaking move toward sustainable mining, the Parsa East and Kanta Basan (PEKB) coal mine, located in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh, has officially become the first coal mine in the state, and one of the first in India, to achieve complete energy self-sufficiency through solar power. The milestone was marked with the inauguration of a 9-megawatt (MW) solar power plant, making PEKB a model for environmentally responsible mining practices. The solar facility was inaugurated on Friday by Rajesh Agrawal, BJP MLA from Ambikapur, who symbolically switched on the panel board to mark the commissioning of the plant. The plant, spanning 30 acres of reclaimed land within the mine, represents a significant step in incorporating renewable energy into India's coal mining sector. The development contract for the PEKB mine was awarded to Adani Enterprises following a competitive bidding process by the Government of Rajasthan. A Green Shift in Mining MLA Agrawal, during his visit, highlighted the importance of the solar power plant for both energy security and environmental sustainability. "The installation of this solar power plant is a significant step in reducing carbon emissions. The plant will generate approximately 2.137 million units of electricity annually, offsetting about 17,094 tonnes of carbon emissions, which is the equivalent of planting 100,000 trees," Agrawal pointed out. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo He added that this initiative is a valuable contribution to India's transition towards clean energy. Officials said that the solar project, developed by Mundra Solar PV Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Ltd., is expected to reduce nearly 400,000 tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 25 years, akin to the environmental benefits of planting 2.5 million trees. During the inauguration, Agrawal also visited the mine's nursery area, where large-scale afforestation is in progress. He planted a Sal tree sapling, an indigenous species crucial for the region's biodiversity. "The plantation of over 1.5 million trees by the mine workers is an admirable effort. Special recognition is due for the cultivation of Sal trees, which are rare to propagate but hold immense ecological value," Agrawal stated. PEKB, located in the Udaipur block of Chhattisgarh, is a critical source of coal for electricity generation, benefiting approximately 80 million consumers in Rajasthan. Beyond its energy contributions, the mine plays a vital role in supporting local communities, creating employment opportunities, and fostering infrastructure development. As part of its environmental and community welfare initiatives, PEKB has already planted over 1.568 million trees in the region. Additionally, more than 1,000 children are receiving free, quality education through English-medium schools operated by the project, ensuring the long-term social development of the local population. The inauguration event was attended by senior officials from RRVUNL. As Chhattisgarh continues to emerge as a leader in sustainable mining, the PEKB solar power plant stands as a shining example of how the sector can contribute to both energy security and environmental preservation, marking a significant milestone in the journey toward a cleaner and greener future. The service coverage will be valid for up to three years from the date of purchase, offering users ample time to seek assistance if needed. While the company has remained tight-lipped about the exact technical root of the issue, it appears to be limited in scope, affecting what Apple describes as a "very small percentage" of devices. Customers are encouraged to back up their data before seeking service and to check their eligibility online prior to visiting a service location. Devices that meet the criteria will be serviced according to Apple's standard repair protocols. This move follows a series of recent quality assurance efforts by Apple as it continues to refine and support its lineup of Mac computers powered by its proprietary silicon.
