The former world champion, 34, opened up on his battle with arthritis earlier this year.

Smith, who triumphed at Ally Pally in 2023, has been struggling with the condition in his throwing hand.
Bully Boy lost his place in this year's Premier League, while he has also fallen out of the world's top 20.
Last month Smith even failed to qualify for the World Matchplay in Blackpool.
And he was recently forced to undergo blood tests amid ongoing health issues.
Dutch darts stars Jermaine Wattimena, Vincent van der Voort and Damian Vlottes discussed Bully Boy's struggles on the Darts drait door podcast.
Having discussed Wattimena's struggles, the 37-year-old previously lost his tour card, the team moved on to Smith's situation, with the world No26 saying: "That's just really sad."
Former World Championship quarter-finalist Van der Voort added: "It's incredible how quickly things can go wrong. He's a world-class talent, but now it's about how he manages this."
The 49-year-old continued: "The Tour waits for no one.

"Even for top players— (Michael) van Gerwen, Dimitri van den Bergh, Joe Cullen—once you start slipping, it's so hard to get back."
Speaking with empathy, Wattimena said: "I've been there. You're throwing 100 averages and still losing.
Michael Smith admits health condition 'keeps getting worse' and left darts star with no choice but to seek help
"You look at the board thinking, 'What more do I have to do?' It gets frustrating."
Smith opened up about his condition while speaking to Sky Sports in February.
Bully Boy said: "I've had it for a few years now. It was always when it was winter so I thought it was just the cold affecting it.
"But it just keeps getting worse and worse. My wrist will start swelling up and the constant pain where I can't bend it so it is getting a bit difficult."
Quizzed if he ever suspected that his problems stemmed from arthritis, he said: "It was there because I broke both my wrists when I was 19 so it was going to catch up with me eventually so I think it has now."

Marcus Rashford says Man Utd ‘in no man's land' as transition ‘has not started'

Rashford, 27, left his boyhood club for a season-long loan at Barcelona last month, having finished the previous season with Aston Villa after falling out of favour following Amorim's arrival and a December interview in which the England international said he was seeking a 'new challenge'. United laboured to a 15th-placed finish under the Portuguese head coach last term, their lowest-ever finish in the Premier League era, but Rashford said the club's problems run much deeper as they have tried six different permanent managers, each with a different approach, since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Rashford said: 'We have been way below where we deem United to be but then if you take a step back, which I've been able to do, especially over these last six months, what do you expect? 🚨 Rashford Ep is Now LIVE! 🚨 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The 2nd English Player At Barca👏 Getting Back To His Best 🤔 What Does Success Look Like?@GaryLineker & @MicahRichards is joined by @MarcusRashford in this exclusive interview ahead of his new season at Barcelona in the latest show below 👇 — The Rest Is Football (@RestIsFootball) August 13, 2025 'People say that we've been in a transition for years but to be in a transition you have to start a transition. The actual transition has not started yet. 'When Liverpool went through this, they got (Jurgen) Klopp, they stuck with him. They didn't win in the beginning. People only remember his final few years when he was competing with (Manchester) City and winning the biggest trophies. 'To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it. It's not easy to do. But this is where I speak about being realistic with what your situation is. We've had that many different managers, different ideas and different strategies to win that you end up in no man's land.' Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a minority share in the club in late 2023, his Ineos group has taken control of football operations and sought to implement a clearer plan. This summer they have spent more than £200million to bring in forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. But Rashford said United have forgotten the principles instilled by Ferguson, who won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups and four League Cups during a 26-year reign at Old Trafford. 'When Ferguson was in charge, not only were there principles for the first team but they were for the whole academy,' Rashford said. 'So you could pick players from 15 years, a full generation, and they'd all understand the principles of playing the Manchester United way. 'Any team that has been successful over a period of time, they have principles that mean that any coach or player that comes in has to align to or add to the principles. 'At times, United were hungry to win… but it was reactionary. If your direction is always changing, you can't expect to win the league.' Rashford made 426 appearances for United, scoring 138 goals and providing 42 assists, but appears to have played his last game for the club, with Barcelona's loan deal including an option to buy which reportedly stands at 35 million euros.

Sergio Aguero makes Premier League top-four and Viktor Gyokeres prediction

Sergio Aguero is confident Manchester City will assert themselves as a genuine force once again and reclaim the Premier League title. City's sustained period of dominance came crashing to a halt last season as Liverpool stormed to the title in Arne Slot's first year at the helm in English football. Having lifted the trophy in each of the previous four seasons, City eventually had to settle for third place, with Pep Guardiola's side finishing 13 points adrift of the Merseyside giants in the top flight. But City fans should be encouraged by their mini-resurgence across a strong end to the campaign to ensure another year of Champions League football which, at times, looked doubtful. The club have also signalled their intent in the transfer market, with Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, James Trafford and Sverre Nypan arriving through the doors at the Etihad – for a combined fee of around £150million – this summer. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. A potentially tricky opening contest away to Wolves awaits the eight-time English champions this weekend and there will be enormous pressure on Guardiola's men to get off to the perfect start at Molineux. But City legend Aguero cannot wait for the new season to get up and running and is clearly optimistic about the side's chances of reaffirming their stranglehold on the league. Asked which club he thinks will clinch the title, Aguero told 'Manchester City. Pressed for a top-four prediction, the Argentine replied: 'Not in order, I think Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.' Aguero is confident Erling Haaland's goalscoring tally will have a big say in how City are placed come the business end of the campaign. The five-time Premier League winner is also curious to see how Viktor Gyokeres adapts to Premier League football and believes the Swede could 'shake things up' in his debut season with Arsenal. Asked who could get their hands on the Golden Boot, Aguero responded: 'I'd like Haaland to win awards because that means he's sure to have a scored a lot for City. '[Mohamed] Salah's name should be brought up when we talk about the Golden Boot, same with Isak. And players arriving to the Premier League with a massive tally like Gyokeres at Arsenal have a chance to shake things up.' Aguero hopes to see Phil Foden return to his best and play with a smile on his face once again after an off season for the City attacker, in which he managed just seven goals and two assists in the top flight. 'I'd like Foden to win Player of the Year again,' he said when asked who could be up for the PFA Player of the Year award. 'I've mentioned Phil but there's also [Alexis] Mac Allister, Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer or Declan Rice. They are sure to stand out and have a shot at the accolade.' More Trending Aguero has been impressed by Liverpool's recruitment across the summer and feels the possible addition of Alexander Isak could take the Reds to another level altogether. 'Isak's potential arrival [to Liverpool] could make them very dangerous, offensively,' he continued. 'On the one hand, Liverpool just lost two major forwards: Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz. On the other, Wirtz coming from the Bundesliga should add some playmaking capability. 'Ekitike has shown a knack for goalscoring on his past tenure at Eintracht, so he should be another factor too.'
