Raducanu stalker prevented from buying Wimbledon tickets
LONDON (AP) — The man accused of stalking tennis player Emma Raducanu tried to obtain tickets to Wimbledon but was blocked by the All England Club's security system, British media reported Tuesday.
The BBC and others reported that the man tried to apply for tickets through the public ballot for the Grand Slam tournament that starts June 30. His name had been red-flagged.
At the Dubai Championships in February, the man exhibited '
fixated behavior
' toward the 22-year-old Raducanu, who became distressed during a match when she noticed him in the crowd.
A day earlier, he had left her a letter and took her photograph, which unnerved the 2021 U.S. Open champion.
After seeing the man in the stands, Raducanu took shelter behind the umpire's chair during her second-round match against Karolina Muchova. Raducanu later said she '
couldn't see the ball through tears
' and struggled to breathe before approaching the umpire.
The man was ejected from the tournament. He was later
detained by Dubai police
and signed a document pledging to 'maintain distance' from Raducanu, who is ranked No. 36.

But after the clay court dust has settled on her defeat, Sabalenka has revealed she took the loss poorly. Speaking ahead of her first grass-court match this year in Berlin, Sabalenka said she reached out to Gauff to apologise for her comments. "That was just completely unprofessional of me," said Sabalenka to Eurosport Germany. "I let my emotions get the better of me. "I absolutely regret what I said back then. We all make mistakes. I'm just a human being who's still learning in life. I think we all have those days when we lose control. The difference with me is the world is watching." "It felt like a joke, honestly, like somebody from above was just there laughing saying, 'let's see if you can handle this'. Honestly, sometimes it felt like she was hitting the ball from the frame. Somehow magically the ball lands in the court, and you are kind of on the back foot." Gauff's win marked her first French Open title to go along with her maiden US Open triumph. The 21-year-old will head into Wimbledon in form, but she has not always enjoyed success on grass. The power-hitter has never made it past the round of 16 at Wimbledon, despite having reached it three times in her young career. She will be boosted though having achieved the World No.2 ranking after winning in Paris. Meanwhile, Sabalenka will also feel she can carry some momentum into the grass court campaign as she looked to add her first grand slam title to her collection in 2025.

Bryan Reynolds leaves Pirates' game against Tigers when wife goes into labor
Associated Press DETROIT (AP) — Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds left Tuesday night's game against the Detroit Tigers in the second inning when his wife went into labor. Reynolds struck out to end the top of the first and didn't make a play in the field in the bottom of the inning. He was replaced by Alexander Canario in right field and is expected to be added to the paternity list after the game. Canario hit a two-run single in the third to give Pittsburgh a 3-2 lead. Kristi Noem is ‘alert and recovering' after trip to hospital over allergic reaction, official says
WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after experiencing an allergic reaction, her spokeswoman said. 'She is alert and recovering,' said the statement from department spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin, who said the hospital treatment was out of an 'abundance of caution.' Noem, 53, heads a sprawling department with roughly 260,000 employees handling immigration enforcement, airport security, disaster response and other matters. She has been among the more high-profile members of President Donald Trump's cabinet, traveling extensively and maintaining a robust social media presence. She is often the public face of his mass deportation effort, frequently goes out on immigration enforcement operations and has appeared in commercials encouraging immigrants in the country illegally to voluntarily leave the U.S. She held a press conference last week in California where U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla, a California Democrat, was forcibly removed as he tried to speak to Noem about immigration raids. Padilla recalled the incident during an emotional speech from the Senate floor Tuesday. Homeland Security said the Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting the secretary, 'thought he was an attacker.' They also accused Padilla of 'disrespectful political theater.' Video of the incident shows a Secret Service agent on Noem's security detail grabbing Padilla by his jacket and shoving him from the room. In the hallway outside he was forced to the ground and handcuffed. Noem told Fox LA afterward that she had a 'great' conversation with Padilla after the scuffle, but called his approach 'something that I don't think was appropriate at all.' Before being tapped to head Homeland Security, Noem was a two-term governor of South Dakota, a former member of Congress and a staunch Trump supporter. She has said she specifically asked Trump for the Homeland Security portfolio because she knew it dealt with Trump's top priorities. Earlier this year Noem's purse was stolen on Easter Sunday while she was out to dinner with her family. The purse reportedly contained about $3,000 in cash, her keys, driver's license, passport and Homeland Security badge. The Homeland Security Department said Noem had cash in her purse to pay for gifts, dinner and other activities for her family on Easter. A suspect was later arrested in connection with the theft and has been charged in federal court with aggravated identity theft, robbery and fraud. Error!
