Blessing Marks Milestone For Hamilton Airport
Press Release – Hamilton Airport
The terminal will officially open for business on Monday, June 16 when the first Jetstar flight from Sydney touches down in Hamilton, before boarding passengers and flying back across the Tasman that afternoon.
A blessing was held at Hamilton Airport today to thank contractors and border agencies and welcome new staff involved in the airport's refurbished international terminal.
The cultural ceremony reflects the importance of whakapapa of the land and acknowledges the renewal of the terminal building to welcome overseas visitors.
The terminal will officially open for business on Monday, June 16 when the first Jetstar flight from Sydney touches down in Hamilton, before boarding passengers and flying back across the Tasman that afternoon.
From then on, Jetstar will operate three return flights per week between Hamilton and the Gold Coast and four between Hamilton and Sydney. The June 16 flight will be the first time there has been trans-Tasman flights in and out of Hamilton in 13 years.
Waikato Regional Airport Ltd chief executive Mark Morgan said this morning's blessing acknowledged the hundreds of people who had contributed to a major regional project.
'The lead contractor was Livingstone Building Ltd but a number of Waikato-based sub-contractors were involved. Today is about recognising everyone who has played a part in delivering an international terminal that Hamilton and the Waikato can be really proud of,' Morgan said.
'It's been a huge job delivered within a tight timeframe. Not finishing it on time was simply not an option.'
The refurnished terminal includes provision for full border controls provided by government agencies including aviation security, customs, MPI and immigration along with support from police and health services. Travellers will have access to a new duty-free story and café.
It also includes a new domestic jet service lounge, which when required, can be entirely separated from international facilities.
A further 300 additional car parks have been developed, including for use by 60 new airport-based staff.
The terminal upgrade is part of a $7 million investment needed to ready the airport for international services and allow for the ongoing growth in passenger numbers. The refurbishment was delivered with no disruption to passengers and no extension of the existing building. The terminal will be used by around 120,000 international passengers arriving and departing each year who will pour $45 million per year into the regional economy.
From June, Jetstar will become the fourth carrier to operate from Hamilton Airport, joining Air New Zealand, Sunair and Originair. The airport already handles around 360,000 passengers annually with more growth forecast.
Just last week, Air New Zealand announced domestic jet flights between Hamilton and Christchurch will resume in September, marking the return of a domestic jet service after 25 years.

Supply Chain Leaders Bet Big On Tech To Navigate Uncertainty
Press Release – Blue Yonder The inaugural Supply Chain Compass report, based on a survey of nearly 700 senior supply chain executives in North America and Europe, reveals that over half of respondents (51%) have identified technology implementation as their top strategic priority over … Global supply chain leaders are ramping up investments in new technology to build more resilient and efficient systems, according to a new report from Blue Yonder. The inaugural Supply Chain Compass report, based on a survey of nearly 700 senior supply chain executives in North America and Europe, reveals that over half of respondents (51%) have identified technology implementation as their top strategic priority over the next three years. In an environment shaped by economic volatility, geopolitical instability, and rapid market shifts, supply chain leaders are seeking tools that can boost both speed and precision. A majority (89%) have allocated specific budgets for tech upgrades, with 61% planning to spend between $1 million and $10 million over the next five years. 'Technology is no longer a nice-to-have — it's a foundational enabler of performance,' said Andrea Morgan-Vandome, chief innovation officer at Blue Yonder. 'Leaders are embracing AI and visibility tools to make supply chains smarter and more resilient.' The report highlights five key focus areas for leaders pursuing transformation: better demand planning and performance analytics (both 46%), investment in tracking and visibility solutions (45%), digital transformation (41%), and cost management (33%). AI is already reshaping supply chain operations. Over 80% of leaders surveyed said outdated technology poses a risk to performance, while 74% agreed AI is actively changing how they operate. Traditional AI technologies like automation and predictive analytics are in wide use — but generative AI adoption still lags behind, with only 36% of leaders reporting current use or implementation. Barriers to wider adoption include human-centered corporate values (51%), high costs of adoption, and competing strategic priorities such as inventory automation. Yet interest is growing, especially among transportation and order fulfillment businesses, 46% of which are exploring generative AI. 'Next-gen AI agents are becoming key not just for efficiency but for enabling sustainability goals,' Morgan-Vandome said. The survey also reveals a strong link between sustainability-focused leadership and openness to innovation. Leaders who rank sustainability among their top three priorities are far more likely to be actively exploring technologies such as AI and end-to-end data connectivity. As digital transformation accelerates, the message from Blue Yonder's Compass report is clear: technology is the bedrock of modern supply chains, and forward-thinking leaders are already laying that foundation.

Akamai launches DNS solution for unified, multicloud security
Akamai Technologies has launched DNS Posture Management, a solution intended to provide unified, multicloud visibility and real-time monitoring for securing DNS infrastructure. The new product is described by Akamai as an agentless platform offering a consolidated view across a range of DNS providers. According to the company, this allows security teams to detect and respond to DNS-based attacks, certificate security risks, vulnerabilities and misconfigurations in real time. DNS is fundamental to network functionality, serving as the protocol for resolving domain names for computers, services, and other resources across the Internet and private IP networks. The critical nature of DNS has also made it a favourite target for cyberattacks such as spoofing, cache poisoning, and rogue certificate abuse. Many large organisations operate multiple DNS systems sourced from a mix of vendors to underpin both their internet and corporate network operations. Akamai notes that this complexity creates ongoing challenges for IT teams, who must keep DNS configurations current and in line with network changes, whilst maintaining proper security and performance settings. Outdated configurations or lapsed certificates can leave organisations exposed to risks, especially as requirements for post-quantum compliance increase. Security teams also contend with a high volume of alerts and complicated compliance obligations, which, if managed manually, risk allowing major issues to slip through unnoticed. Akamai asserts that automating compliance assessments and integrating these findings into incident management is now critical to efficient security processes. "DNS security often flies under the radar, but it's vital in keeping businesses secure and running smoothly," said Sean Lyons, SVP and General Manager, Infrastructure Security Solutions & Services, Akamai. "For many organisations, the challenge isn't setting up DNS - it's knowing whether all their systems are actually properly configured and secured. Those organisations really need a simple way to see what's happening across their DNS environment to take action quickly. That's the problem we're solving with DNS Posture Management. Security practitioners get a clear, unified view that helps them identify priority issues early, stay compliant, and keep their networks performing at their best." Akamai highlights that misconfigurations and known DNS vulnerabilities are common, potentially undermining uptime and reliability. Such issues also increase susceptibility to serious threats including unauthorised SSL/TLS certificate issuance, DNS spoofing, and cache poisoning. Attackers could exploit these weaknesses to create forged websites that mimic a company's branding for activities such as phishing, fraud, or data theft. In some cases, they may be able to render DNS servers inoperable, resulting in service outages for both the business and its customers. Continuous compliance monitoring is cited by Akamai as necessary to address these risks, especially given expanding regulatory expectations for DNS and certificate management. DNS Posture Management automates compliance checks aligned with standards such as NIST, PCI DSS, and HIPAA, aiming to simplify the process and reduce costs for enterprise users. The solution integrates a Certificate Monitor, designed to catalogue digital certificates by their associated domains and highlight security issues such as expired, misconfigured, or unauthorised certificates. An HTTP posture analysis capability is also included to assess domains utilising these certificates. DNS Posture Management supports coverage across major cloud and DNS providers, including Akamai Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. The product is positioned as a unified dashboard where security teams can view zones, domains, subdomains, and records in one place. An additional Managed Security Service is available from Akamai, intended to augment internal resources with continual global security expertise, which the company says is designed to help organisations maximise the benefits of DNS Posture Management.
