Electric Picnic makes major new line-up announcement
Electric Picnic has announced the lineup for Fish Town featuring artists such as Junior Brother, Jerry Fish, MayKay, The Frank and Walters and Meryl Streek. The 'mischief-filled arena that is Fish Town is planning to be even wilder than ever for Electric Picnic 2025,' according to a statement. It's 'where we redefine 'normal' with ringmaster extraordinaire Jerry Fish at the helm.' The two-time Platinum-selling pop artist Jerry Fish is known for his enigmatic live performances. This will mark Fish Town's fourth year at the festival. The area is home to The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow and will feature a circus tent, three pop-up Sideshow Stages and The Heart and Anchor Bar. 'The whole town is inhabited by circus, cabaret, burlesque, pole, drag and sideshow walkabout performers – you never know who you may bump into at Fish Town,' according to a statement. 'Fish Town promises once again to be a highlight of this year's Picnic, delivering three debauched days and nights of mind-blowing, soul-bending entertainment! Under its unwavering banner of 'unity through diversity.'' Jerry Fish and MayKay will perform on Friday, August 29, after midnight.

Neven Maguire set to show off DJ skills with a set at Electric Picnic
No, your eyes don't deceive you: the chef Neven Maguire is doing a DJ set at Electric Picnic. EP is set to take place later this month with tens of thousands of festival goers set to descend on Stradbally Hall at the end of August. And with new additions to the lineup being announced along with new stages, EP organisers have announced the return of the Theatre of Food stage — with international flavours, cooking demonstrations and cocktail shows. Other chefs that will also be on the main stage of the Theatre of Food include Michelin Star chef JP McMahon, Johnny 'The Hungry Hooker' Murphy, and the Cupcake Bloke Graham Herterich. A number of cooking exhibitions will take place across the Theatre's three stages, and on Sunday the annual Theatre of Food brunch will take place in support of Irish Cancer Society and Cancer Care West. Wexford GAA allow players to attend Electric Picnic as they call off weekend's games
Electric Picnic is just around the corner as in just over than two weeks' time people from all across the country will come to Stradbally in Laois for Ireland's biggest music festival. Around 75,000 people are expected to attend the event this year and that's of course going cause huge disruptions in the sporting world as the various County Championships have gotten underway this month. Pic: Wexford GAA have taken the unprecedented decision to have a gap week on the weekend of August 29-31 to allow players, volunteers and so on to attend EP and not have to potential call off games due to lack of numbers. Wexford GAA had an extra weekend to play with as they started their County Championships a week early following their early end to both their football and hurling inter-county season. Speaking to the Irish Independent, Wexford chairman John Kenny spoke about how this decision came from previous behaviors from players in recent years and that the players are in favour of it. Wexford GAA have taken the unprecedented decision to have a gap week on the weekend of August 29-31 to allow players, volunteers and so on to attend EP and not have to potential call off games due to lack of numbers. Pic: 'We're only hearing it back in through the clubs but obviously the club managers are having some issues with availability. There's everything on and players, it's obviously players that are driving this, they want to be able to live as well. The split season is a great idea but it's not a perfect system either I can tell you. 'We start our championships in July but the reality is that in July and August, lads still want to go here and there. It's probably a kind of a modern day issue or problem and that's probably life the way it is now.' Round five of the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship will recommence the weekend following Electric Picnic on the weekend of September 5-7.
