Anew Climate Announces Strategic Service Agreement With Landwärme
Anew Climate to service Landwärme's EEG & green gas contracts under approved strategic agreement.
HOUSTON, TEXAS / / February 6, 2025 / Anew Climate, LLC, a leading biomethane and carbon removals company, announced today a strategic agreement whereby Anew will service Landwärme's EEG and green gas contracts. The agreement was recently approved by the Federal Cartel Office and Landwärme creditors, and it is scheduled to close in the coming days.
"Anew Climate was selected by the Landwärme creditors committee to manage the company's remaining contracts due to many factors, including its longstanding success in the North American biomethane market, financial backing, and extensive experience in environmental commodities," said Dr. Anna Wilke, restructuring manager.
Anew Climate CEO, Angela Schwarz, comments: "As the leading independent marketer of biomethane in North America, Anew brings the expertise and financial strength to fulfill Landwärme's core contracts. With our expansion into Europe through both our Low Carbon Fuels and Carbon Development businesses, we are the ideal partner for Landwärme's customers."
Separate from the service agreement between Anew and Landwärme, Anew recently announced its European business expansion. Building on more than 20 years of environmental commodities experience, the expansion enables Anew to offer a full suite of comprehensive products and services to Europe's regulated and voluntary markets. Anew first entered the European environmental commodities markets in 2022 by establishing a carbon removals business headquartered in Madrid, Spain. Anew offices will open in Munich and Berlin, adding to the company's existing presence in Budapest and Madrid.
Landwärme entered into self-administration proceedings on August 13, 2024, following the downturn in the German regulated transportation markets, which was fueled by suspected fraud tied to the import of biodiesel and upstream emission reduction projects (UER projects). Landwärme representatives will soon contact their EEG and green gas customers to provide further guidance.

Negative Rates Return to Switzerland as U.S. Faces Higher Yields. What Does it Mean for Bitcoin?
As President Donald Trump's trade war threatens to upend the global economy, an interesting divergence has emerged that could potentially grease the bitcoin BTC bull run. The divergence in consideration is the elevated yields on U.S. Treasury notes that threaten to compound the fiscal issues, and the renewed negative flip in yields on Swiss government bonds. According to data source Swiss government bonds with maturities of up to five years offered negative yields at press time, with the two-year yield at -17.8 basis points. On the contrary, similar-duration Treasury notes offered yields over 4%. The divergence is the bond market's way of telling us that the trade war will have different impacts on various countries, depending on their trade profiles. Those running trade surpluses, such as several European countries and China, will face disinflation or an outright deflation, while countries like the U.S., which import more than they export, will see an increase in price pressures. The specter of deflation in European nations and China could put pressure on their central banks to ease monetary policy aggressively, likely leading to increased capital deployment into alternative investments like bitcoin. Both the Swiss National Bank and the European Central Bank have already cut rates in recent months. Meanwhile, analysts have said that higher yields in the U.S. and the record public debt could accelerate the shift away from U.S. assets and into alternative assets. "The last time this happened [Swiss yields turned negative in late 2019], it preceded coordinated global easing, repo market seizures, and ultimately pandemic-era QE. Now, it likely reflects a mix of deflationary pressure, eurozone contagion risks, and capital rotating into monetary sovereignty safe havens amid sovereign stress elsewhere," pseudonymous analyst EndGame Macro said on X. It's worth noting that bitcoin's 2020-2021 bull run from $5,000 to over $60,000 was characterized by a record amount of negative-yielding government debt worldwide. Liverpool reach verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz
Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement in principle with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Florian Wirtz for a reported €150m including bonuses. It brings an end to the saga that will see the 22-year-old German playmaker play for Arne Slot's side next season. Liverpool's latest offer comes just days after it was reported that Leverkusen were expecting a final offer from the Premier League side after rejecting two previous approaches. Advertisement The arrival of Wirtz – who is expected to sign a contract until 2030 – at Liverpool will see two transfer records broken: the record fee received by a Bundesliga club for a player, and a record arrival in the Premier League, beating Chelsea's record purchase of Enzo Fernandez for around €121m. Wirtz scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 31 Bundesliga games for Bayer Leverkusen last season, and 31 goal contributions (16 goals and 15 assists) in 45 games across all competitions.
