Rauw Alejandro to receive Hispanic Heritage award, teases new album ‘Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0'
On Wednesday, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation announced that the singer-songwriter will receive the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Award for Vision, a title that honors his groundbreaking contributions to Latin music and his role in shaping its global future.
'As an artist in constant motion, Rauw Alejandro embodies the very essence of the vision award, bold in creativity, future-focused in his global impact and unapologetically original in everything he does,' says Antonio Tijerino, president and chief executive of HHF. 'His work is not just music, it's a movement that confirms what Latin artists mean to the world.'
The award, established by the White House in 1998, is bestowed on notable public figures for their accomplishments and cultural contributions to the Latino community. Past honorees, specifically in the vision category, include Wisin, Ivy Queen, Bad Bunny, Residente and more.
The 32-year-old songwriter from San Juan welcomed the award with an unveiling of his own: the title of his next album, 'Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0.'
'This is just the beginning … with my next project 'Capítulo 0' I want to keep showcasing not only Puerto Rico, but the full essence of the Caribbean.'
News of this honor should not come as a surprise to those who have been following Rauw Alejandro's career and hustle. His 2020 debut album, 'Afrodisíaco,' earned him his first Grammy nomination for best urban music album, as well as a Grammy nod for best new artist.
Throughout the years, the eclectic singer-songwriter and dance phenom has innovated the Latin music scene with the release of experimental albums like his electronic and R&B-inspired LP, 'Vice Versa,' in 2021; his techno-infused psychedelic album, 'Saturno,' in 2022; and his beachy follow-up, 'Playa Saturno,' in 2023.
In 2024, Rauw Alejandro released his fifth studio album, 'Cosa Nuestra,' a project inspired by New York City's salsa music scene in the 1970s. Upon its release, the record landed him the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Latin Albums chart, and No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The critically-acclaimed album is likely to claim top prizes at the upcoming 2025 Latin Grammys.
''Cosa Nuestra' has always been my way of representing my island, my culture, and my people — wherever they may be,' said Rauw Alejandro in a statement. 'Every detail — the beats, the visuals, the dancing — reflects part of our Puerto Rican roots and our connection with other sister cultures, because we've been shaping the history of music for a long time.'
The 38th annual Hispanic Heritage Awards will take place on Sept. 4 at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. To date, this year's honorees include NPR's Felix Contreras, stoner comic Cheech Marin, Rizos Curls chief executive Julissa Prado and more.

The performance was a warm-up for his two-night return to the Garden on Aug. 15 and 16 — his first apperances there since the Trump rally. Tonight's performance is billed as the Killers of Kill Tony, which will feature comedians who have become regulars on his wildly popular comedy competition. The Aug.. 16 show, which is sold out, will be a typical Kill Tony episode, in which aspiring comedians' names are drawn at random and given 60 seconds to impress the often-merciless Hinchcliffe and a panel of his funny friends. In the aftermath of his appearance at the Trump rally, Hinchcliffe stated, 'I apologize to absolutely nobody' — and he was unrepentant during his set at The Stand too. He got a big laugh when he referred to his jokes at the Trump rally as an event 'that changed some people's lives forever.' After a story about giving a 'crackhead' outside his hotel $100 'just so he'd overdose,' then returning to his lifeless body to get 'my $60 change back,' he told the crowd that he was 'doubling down' and his next comedy special would 'cover every single race.' Hinchcliffe, who grew up in Youngstown, Ohio (and now calls Austin, Texas home) said he was 'raised in an all-Black neighborhood,' before setting up a joke that Black men 'do indeed love eating chicken' but 'do not love eating eggs,' because 'even in the chicken world, they don't want to be with the children.' When the punchline provoked a robust laugh from the packed crowd, Hinchcliffe said with a smile, 'You guys are coming around the curve! Truly progressive.' Hinchcliffe then asked how many Latinos were in the crowd. The light applause prompted a 'Whoa!' from the comedian. 'They used to be louder and prouder,' he said, an apparent reference to ICE's recent arrests of undocumented (and some documented) immigrants, many of them from Latin countries. He followed up with a joke about his Hispanic housekeeper lamenting to him, 'You had me tell everyone I know to vote for the president,' which now had a lot of people angry at her. Effecting a concerned voice, Hinchcliffe said he replied, 'Reina, the guest bedroom toilet is clogged.' Before leaving the stage, Hinchcliffe said the audience was probably wondering why there were no 'Jew jokes' in his set. Billie Eilish Leaps Up The Billboard Charts
Billie Eilish is wrapping the latest leg of her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour. In August, she only has two dates scheduled in Japan, then several weeks off before she picks back up again in the United States for another venture around the country. Excitement seems to be building among her American fans as Eilish's entire catalog of albums grows in the U.S., and she rises on almost every tally on which she appears. Hit Me Hard and Soft Lives Inside the Top 40 Of course, Hit Me Hard and Soft is her biggest project at the moment. The Grammy-nominated set is her most recent release, and the one that's still being promoted by multiple singles. Hit Me Hard and Soft appears inside the top 40 on every ranking, as it jumps from No. 48 to No. 37 on the Top Album Sales chart. The set can also be found at No. 20 on the Billboard 200, and it almost reconquers the Top Rock & Alternative Albums list as it climbs from No. 3 to the runner-up spot. Hit Me Hard and Soft is a non-mover on the Top Streaming Albums roster, where it sits at No. 18, and it is once again in charge of the Top Alternative Albums ranking. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and Happier Than Ever Eilish's first two full-lengths, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and Happier Than Ever, live on a trio of tallies — and the same three at that. Happier Than Ever gains quite a bit of ground on the Billboard 200, as last time around it sat only a few spaces ahead of When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? at No. 193. Now it surges almost 40 spaces to make a home at No. 153. Consumption of Billie Eilish's Music is Up – Mostly Luminate reports that both Happier Than Ever and When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? gained in terms of total consumption from one frame to the next. Happier Than Ever moved 10,000 units last week, up 12.5% from the period before. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? managed just under 9,200 equivalent units, a growth of almost 4%. While Hit Me Hard and Soft may be Eilish's top performer, it actually sees its total number of units moved decline by a little more than 3%, though it still managed 23,300 equivalent copies in the U.S. in the most recent tracking period.

Even if Fleetwood Mac's album Rumours disappeared from the charts forever, it would likely always be regarded as one of the bestselling and top-performing releases of all time. Thankfully, the pop-rock classic never fully fades from the Billboard rankings and, in fact, often beats out many new projects from current stars. Rumours is on the rise yet again across a variety of Billboard charts in America, and this week, the Grammy-winning set returns to the summit on multiple lists at the same time. Rumours Returns to No. 1 on Several Charts Last week, Rumours sat at No. 2 on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. Now it turns around, and the Fleetwood Mac blockbuster regains control over both of those rosters, which are built around general consumption and focus on only the rock side of the music industry. Only a Few Weeks at No. 1 Rumours has spent the same length of time on both tallies, as it's now up to 440 frames on each list. The set has racked up half a dozen stays at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums ranking, and just five on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, which is slightly more competitive, as alternative titles are also included. The Essential Ozzy Osbourne Falls from No. 1 Last week, The Essential Ozzy Osbourne commanded both rock rankings, as Americans continued to rediscover Osbourne's work following his death in July.
