Geagea Warns Against Reshuffling Cards, Risking Further Losses
Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea said, "Lebanon has turned the page on the past with all its tragedies and woes. We have embarked on a new era, and we now have hope of emerging from the current situation." He added, "We have struggled in recent years for the establishment of a real state in Lebanon, and we have won this challenge by rebuilding the state in parallel with the election of a new president, the appointment of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and the formation of the government." Geagea, however, expressed surprise at "the recent launch of new rockets towards Israel, at a time when the state remains absent, which threatens to reshuffle the cards and cause further human and material losses." His words came during a celebration organized by the Lebanese Forces Party in Maarab on the occasion of "Mother's Day" on Saturday evening. In a word of tribute to mothers of martyrs, Geagea said the call of the mothers of fallen martyrs is the "strongest and most precious of all calls." He added: "Rest assured that the memory of the martyrs is always with us, and I personally always remember them, for the simple reason that their memory keeps us from losing our bearings. The proof is that for 40 years until today, the Lebanese Forces party has only taken the straight path, which we have continued on until today, because the martyrs paved this path for us. Therefore, when we remember them, it becomes very difficult to choose another path." Geagea continued, "The youth did not die in vain; they sacrificed their lives to build a nation and were martyred for the survival of society."
