AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti received Norwegian Ambassador Mona Juul on Sunday at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).
During the meeting, attended by senior JAF officers and the Norwegian defence attaché, discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination across various fields.
They also reviewed regional and international developments in a manner that serves the interests of both countries' armed forces, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Huneiti underscored the importance of the strategic partnership between Jordan and Norway and highlighted the need for unified international efforts to promote global security and peace.
Juul commended Jordan's pivotal role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in fostering security and stability in the region.

Jordanian army shoots down two drones in failed drug smuggling attempt
The Jordanian Southern Military Zone foiled a drug smuggling attempt on its western front this Wednesday morning using two drones. A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) said, 'Border Guard forces in the Southern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle narcotics using two drones that tried to cross the border.' He explained that the rules of engagement were applied after the drones were detected and tracked, and they were dealt with and brought down inside Jordanian territory. The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities.
