HM the Sultan greets citizens, residents on occasion of Eid Al Adha
Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has addressed a message of greetings to Omani citizens, residents in the Sultanate of Oman and to the Islamic nation on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.
A statement to this effect was issued by the Diwan of Royal Court. It reads as follows:
'Amid the grace of these blessed days during which pilgrims perform the rituals of Hajj pilgrimage for the Year 1446 AH—and, as Muslims in the east and the west of the globe anticipate the sunrise of the 10thof Dhul-Hijja, glorifying the Almighty Allah throughout these propitious days—His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik addressed a message of greetings to Omani citizens, residents on the land of Oman and the whole Islamic nation on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.
His Majesty the Sultan prayed to the Almighty Allah to endow all with many happy comebacks of this auspicious occasion, and similar events, and bring back the Eid at a time all relish the bounties of health and long life. His Majesty wished that these blessed days would be a time of prosperity, peace and amity.
May Allah the Almighty grant His Majesty the Sultan a long life and make him witness many happy returns of these divine days, and May He bestow His blessings and bounties on the Sultanate of Oman and its noble people!

MINA, SAUDI ARABIA: Pilgrims were performing the last major ritual of the Haj — the "stoning of the devil" — on Friday, as Muslims around the globe celebrated the beginning of the Eid Al Adha holiday. From before day break, the 1.5 million-plus pilgrims began throwing seven stones at each of three concrete walls symbolising the devil in the Mina valley, on the outskirts of the holy city of Mecca. Droves of pilgrims had already set out from their accommodation in the sprawling tent city in Mina before dawn, taking advantage of the cool temperatures. The ritual commemorates Abraham's stoning of the devil at the three spots where it is said Satan tried to dissuade him from obeying God's order to sacrifice his son. Many climbed the mount despite the searing heat, though numbers had thinned by midday following official warnings for pilgrims to stay inside between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. This year's Haj saw authorities implementing a range of heat mitigation efforts alongside a wide-ranging crackdown on illicit pilgrims — resulting in noticeably thinner crowds and a heavy security presence at holy sites in Mecca and surrounding areas. The measures were aimed at preventing a repeat of last year's Haj that saw 1,301 people die in temperatures that hit 51.8 degrees Celsius (125 degrees Fahrenheit). Saudi authorities said a majority of those deaths were among pilgrims who slipped into Mecca illegally and lacked access to accommodation and other services aimed to keep pilgrims safe and protected from the searing desert heat. Haj permits are allocated to countries on a quota basis and distributed to individuals by a lottery system. But even for those who can secure them, the high costs spur many to attempt the Haj without a permit, even though they risk arrest and deportation if caught. The stoning ritual in the Mina valley was the scene of a fatal stampede in 2015, when 2,300 people were killed in one of the deadliest Haj disasters. Saudi Arabia earns billions of dollars a year from the Haj and the lesser pilgrimage known as umrah, undertaken at other times of the year. The pilgrimages are also a source of prestige for the Saudi monarch, who is known as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques of Mecca and Medina. HH Sayyid Fahd offers Eid Al Adha prayers at Al Khor Mosque
Muscat — HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers today offered Eid Al Adha prayers at Al Khor Mosque in Muscat. Alongside HH Sayyid Fahd, the prayers were performed by some members of the Royal family, ministers, advisors and officials. The prayers were led by Sheikh Dr. Kahlan bin Nabhan Al Kharusi, Assistant Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, who delivered the Eid sermon. On this happy occasion, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers expressed greetings to all citizens and residents. HM offers Eid Al Adha prayers at Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Nizwa
Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik offered Eid Al Adha 1446 AH prayers at Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Nizwa, Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah today. Along with His Majesty the Sultan, the Eid Al Fitr prayers were be offered by some of their highnesses members of the Royal Family, Al Busaid dignitaries, ministers, advisors, commanders of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and other military and security services, some members of the State Council and Shura Council in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, undersecretaries, walis, sheikhs and citizens.
