Las Vegas reportedly betting against another Perry ‘disaster' after residency flops
Katy Perry's Las Vegas residency was such a 'complete failure' that hotels don't want her back.
The three-year-long show, Katy Perry: PLAY, apparently bombed so badly that she actually lost the hotel and casino money.
'There was a bidding war between Resorts World and Caesars,' a source told NewsNation.
'Caesars technically lost out — but in the end, Caesars won,' they continued, noting how the residency was a 'disaster for Resorts World, a complete failure.'
The insider detailed how Perry was paid between $750,000 and $900,000 a show due to the bidding war, but she 'underperformed' during the entire run, resulting in Resorts World losing cash.
'At the end of the day, Caesars won by losing the (Perry) residency,' the source said. 'No one wants to lose money like that in Vegas.'
Technically, the Roar singer returned to Sin City, but only for one show Saturday as part of her current Lifetimes tour.
It's the latest criticism the Teenage Dream songstress is facing after she suffered serious backlash following her trip to space on Blue Origin's all-female flight.
Perry — along with Gayle King, Lauren Sanchez, activist Amanda Nguyen, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and film producer Kerianne Flynn — took that 11-minute flight in which Perry sang a few lines of What a Wonderful World while floating in zero gravity.
The expensive space flight was slammed by many, including a 'disgusted' Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn.
In the aftermath of the criticism, Perry posted a video on Instagram, telling fans that she is 'OK' and has 'done a lot work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me.
'When the 'online' world tries to make me a human pinata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed.'
Perry's tour, which features space-inspired costumes and dance moves, kicked off last month.
The Firework singer made it clear she is aware of the mixed feelings she's stirred up among the public, addressing it during her May 12 show in Chicago.
'Well, I thought I was the most hated person on the internet,' she said to the sold-out crowd in a video recorded by a fan.
'I think that's false,' Perry continued as the audience cheered her on.
In 2023, Perry revealed she wanted to stick around in Las Vegas.
'I can see myself being in Vegas for periods of time for the rest of my life, especially since I live so close in California,' she told Las Vegas Weekly.
'I'll still go on tours and be putting out records, but it's a great touchstone to come back to.'

Jennifer Lopez is set to return to Las Vegas for a concert residency. After hosting the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) on Monday night, the entertainer took to Instagram to announce that she will be performing a short run of shows titled Jennifer Lopez: Up All Night Live at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace later this year. The residency will originally run from 30 December until 3 January. Jennifer will then return to Sin City for an additional eight dates in March. Tickets go on sale on 6 June. "SURPRISE JLOVERS! "I have the most understanding and loving fans in the world. Some fan bases can be spicy. Mine are just a bunch of lovers," the 55-year-old smiled. "I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself and really dig down deep into things that were happening in my life. Nikki Glaser Admits She Was ‘Clowning' for a Taylor Swift Announcement at the 2025 AMAs
Nikki Glaser was one of countless Swifties who was a little let down after the 2025 American Music Awards ended with no word from Taylor Swift, despite a trail of seeming clues leading up to the show that fans had thought meant the pop superstar be making an appearance or announcing something major on Monday night (May 26). But in the hours before the ceremony ended in Las Vegas — back when Swiftie hopes were still high — the comedian gushed in a red carpet interview with Billboard that she was indeed 'clowning' over the possibility of the pop superstar showing up to unveil either a brand new album or Reputation (Taylor's Version). 'I did see a list on Instagram tonight of all the Easter eggs that say that she's going to be here,' Glaser said, noting that she was trying not to think too much about it, lest she 'freak out.' More from Billboard Snubs & Surprises at 2025 American Music Awards Here Are the 2025 American Music Awards Winners (Updating Live) Shakira Falls Onstage During 'Whenever, Wherever' Performance at Montreal Concert 'I'm usually someone that doesn't clown, and I'm like, 'Guys, don't get your hopes up,'' she continued while speaking to QTCinderalla and Billboard's Tetris Kelly. 'But I think I'm clowning.' Ultimately, Swift didn't even attend the awards, much less share news about a new project. The no-show came weeks after fans first noticed that the 14-time Grammy winner's online store had changed to display a menu reading, 'Apparel, Music, Accessories, Sale,' spelling out 'AMAs' with each word's first letter. Swifties — Glaser included — also discovered that several items on the website were on sale for 26% off their original price, matching the May 26 date of the ceremony. 'It's too much of a coincidence with all the 26s lining up,' Glaser gushed to Billboard. 'What else could it be? There's gotta be something, and if there's not … I have a feeling she's holding onto [Reputation (Taylor's Version)] for a long time. I think that girl's got new music for us — that's my prediction.' But despite her excitement, the TV personality noted that she would be happy even if Swift didn't make any moves that night. 'Even if she doesn't show up, we love it,' added Glaser, who later presented new artist of the year to Gracie Abrams. 'Thank you for the puzzle.' Though Monday's goose chase ended up leading to a dead end, Swift is famous for teasing things months in advance and leaving Easter eggs for her fans to decode. The practice dates back to the very beginning of her career, when she used to hide secret messages in her CD lyric booklets by not-so-randomly capitalizing letters. In the 20 years since, Swifties have gotten used to scanning everything from her outfits to her Instagram captions for subtle clues about her next steps. Glaser has long been a fan of the 'Fortnight' singer, revealing in December that she'd spent nearly $100,000 to see Swift on 22 Eras Tour shows in 2023 and 2024. 'She has no idea who I am, but I'm just the biggest fan,' the comedian said in July of being 'addicted' to the concerts on Jimmy Kimmel Live. 'I want to just see it as much as possible, it's the thing that makes me happiest in the world.' In February, however, the Someday You'll Die stand-up explained why she would never approach her idol in person. 'Taylor, she's just — everyone wants a piece,' she said on Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard of bumping into the pop star at award shows. 'I will never be the one to be like, 'Excuse me!' There's no way that she's dying for that on a night like this where everyone's doing it. And of course, she would be so nice. I know exactly how it would go down, but I don't wanna take someone's energy away that I require their energy to be put into making great music.' The American Music Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Eldridge Industries and Billboard parent company Penske Media. Royal Family Shares Rare Photo of Queen Elizabeth Ahead of King Charles's Historic Moment
2025 is already shaping up to be a year full of historic moments for the royal family. From Duchess Sophie stepping out at the Sovereign's Parade to King Charles and Queen Camilla visiting the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre, the royal calendar has been packed with memorable moments. But this latest milestone? It's one for the history books. This week, King Charles and Queen Camilla made an official visit to Ottawa, Canada's capital, to formally open the country's 45th Parliament. Ahead of the ceremony, the royal family's official Instagram shared a touching throwback photo of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip during their own Canadian parliamentary visit back in 1957. In the photo, the late Queen and her husband are seen seated regally on thrones, dressed in full royal attire. While the image is undeniably nostalgic, it carries real significance. King Charles's appearance at the Senate in Ottawa on May 27 marks the first time a reigning monarch has opened Canada's Parliament since his mother did nearly 70 years ago. It's also a big deal, considering it marks King Charles's first Canadian visit as Sovereign. A short video clip shared to social media captured Charles and Camilla en route to the event, riding in a horse-drawn carriage. The caption read, 'The King and Queen are on their way in the State Landau to officially open Parliament at the Senate in Ottawa, Canada.' King Charles and Queen Camilla touched down on May 26 for their quick two-day visit to Canada. On Monday, they were greeted by dignitaries and cheered on by local school groups from Ontario and Quebec. Later, they joined a community gathering at Lansdowne Park where they met with Canadians, supported local vendors and artisans, enjoyed cultural performances—and even caught a glimpse of a youth street hockey game. A historic day, a nostalgic tribute and a touch of fun? Now that's a royal win. Want all the latest entertainment news sent right to your inbox? Click here.
