Alan Dershowitz says farmer's market on the Vineyard refused to sell him pierogi over his politics
— Alan Dershowitz (@AlanDersh)
Dershowitz said he approached the business at the market earlier in the day and asked for six pierogi.
'And he said 'no,'' Dershowitz said. 'I said 'oh, you you've run out of pierogi? Too bad. [The vendor said] 'no no no, we have plenty of pierogi. I just won't sell them to you.''

Dershowitz said he asked for an explanation, and the vendor replied, ''I won't sell them to you because I don't approve of your politics. I don't approve of who you've represented. I don't approve of who you support.''
Dershowitz said he asked what specifically was objectionable about his political views, but the vendor wouldn't elaborate.
'The clear implication was that he opposed me because I

'Proud American Zionist, red, white, and blue,' Dershowitz said. 'And I recall that he looked at it strangely, but I didn't talk to him. But it became evident to me that he opposed my being a Zionist,
Dershowitz said that after being denied service, he opted to exercise his own First Amendment right to self-expression, causing a bit of a stir.
'I said to the people who were approaching the tent where he was selling his pierogi, 'do you really want to buy pierogi from a guy who won't sell it to somebody based on his politics?'' Dershowitz said. ''I think that would be wrong. You wouldn't buy from somebody who didn't sell to Black people, or gay people, or transgender people, or anything like that.''
Police eventually showed up, and video footage of Dershowitz speaking with an officer was
Dershowitz said the officer told him he would face arrest for trespassing if he didn't leave.
He said he informed the officer that he wasn't interfering with anyone, and that 'anybody who wants to go and buy from this bigot can buy from him, but they have to listen to me. I have my First Amendment rights, and I'm not disturbing anybody or causing any legal impediment to him by standing there and saying, 'don't buy from this bigot.''
Dershowitz said he informed an official with the farmer's market that he would take 'legal action' against it 'to make sure that they only have booths by people who will sell to everybody, that they don't allow people to have booths on this quasi-public property that discriminate on the basis of race or religion or gender or politics.'

He also said Wednesday via X that 'I'm suing,' but then suggested when reached Friday via text message that litigation may not be necessary.
'The market is apparently considering amending its rules to require its vendors to sell to everybody,' Dershowitz said via text. 'If they do, I will be satisfied.'
Neither the farmer's market nor Good Pierogi immediately responded to requests for comment on Friday.

In August 2021, Dershowitz and David, the comic and creator of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' had a tense back and forth at the Chilmark General Store, per the New York Post's
'We can still talk, Larry,' Dershowitz reportedly said to David on the porch of the store after attempting to greet him. Dershowitz and David used to be friends, Dershowitz later dished to Page Six.
'No. No. We really can't. I saw you. I saw you with your arm around [former Trump Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo! It's disgusting!' David reportedly responded.
Dershowitz told David that Pompeo was a former student of his at Harvard: 'I greet all of my former students that way. I can't greet my former students?'
'It's disgusting,' David repeated, according to the paper. 'Your whole enclave — it's disgusting. You're disgusting!'

Dershowitz then, according to a Page Six witness, took off his T-shirt to reveal another one underneath. The front read: 'It's The Constitution, Stupid!'

Ukraine and Russia strikes hit homes and oil depot near Black Sea
A Russian missile strike has destroyed homes and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine's southern city of Mykolaiv, local officials say. At least three civilians were reported injured in the city near the Black Sea, which has been repeatedly shelled by Russian forces. Ukraine's State Emergency Service posted photos of firefighters at the scene after the missile strike. Early on Sunday a massive oil depot fire was raging near Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi - blamed by the Russian authorities on a Ukrainian drone attack. Sochi's airport in the same area - Adler district - suspended flights. Krasnodar Region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram that drone debris had hit a fuel tank, and 127 firefighters were tackling the blaze. The drone attack was one of several launched by Ukraine over the weekend, targeting installations in the southern Russian cities of Ryazan, Penza and Voronezh. The governor of Voronezh said four people were injured in one drone strike. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for stronger international sanctions on Russia this week after a deadly attack on Kyiv on Thursday killed at least 31 people. More than 300 drones and eight cruise missiles were launched in the assault, Ukrainian officials said, making the attack one of the deadliest on the capital since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
