Man Excludes 'Dramatic' Girlfriend from Promotion Dinner. Now She Is 'Livid'
A man took to the internet to ask if he did the right thing by excluding his girlfriend from his celebration
She told him she was upset he didn't include her, and she accused the man of "hiding her," saying he "embarrassed her"
Many took his side by agreeing she should be able to celebrate his achievements without making it about herselfA man caused more drama than he intended after he intentionally didn't invite his girlfriend to his promotion dinner.
In a recent Reddit post, the 35-year-old admitted that he didn't include his partner of two years in the celebration because he knew she would make it about herself. The man insisted that he "loves" his "smart" and "driven" girlfriend, but noted that she can be "dramatic," especially "when the attention isn't on her."
The man explained that he was recently promoted to partner at his firm, a "huge" accomplishment he has "worked toward for almost a decade." His colleagues threw a "small" dinner for him to celebrate, but he left his 34-year-old girlfriend off the list.
"Why? Because last time I got recognition at work, she spent the entire dinner talking about how she once turned down a big promotion to 'prioritize her mental health,'" he shared. "She hijacked every compliment meant for me."
Due to her past behavior, he decided to attend the event "alone" and told his girlfriend it was "just coworkers." When she found a tagged photo and discovered the truth, she became "livid." She accused the man of "hiding her," saying he "embarrassed her" and that he made her feel like "a trophy I keep in the closet."
When he tried to explain his reasoning, she called him "shallow and insecure."
"I feel awful," he wrote. "But I also feel like I deserved a night where I didn't have to babysit someone else's ego.

Reddit users were quick to share their take on the situation, with many questioning why the man was with the woman in the first place, especially if he felt he couldn't celebrate his achievements with her.
"Worked in couples counseling for years - this behavior doesn't magically improve with time or marriage," one user wrote. "You're basically telling us you can't even enjoy your own professional milestone without walking on eggshells. Think hard about that."
Another commenter added, "You're at a place in your relationship where you don't feel you can be honest with her, don't trust her, and don't think she will put your interests first when it is important to do so. The fact you decided to exclude her this time tells me some part of you is already aware this relationship is over. This is not a happy place for you. I would be unhappy too. Time to end it."

There will be lots and lots of blood,' said director Alfred Hitchcock in an interview about then upcoming horror flick Psycho in 1959. Prior to Psycho, the legendary 'master of suspense" had already racked up quite an array of box office hits. Think Notorious, Shadow of a Doubt, Strangers on a Train, Lifeboat, North by Northwest, Rope, Rear Window, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and Vertigo, among others. And on in this day in 1960 was the launch of Psycho starring Anthony Perkins. The plot of Psycho, of course, centered on an encounter at the eerie Bates Motel between Marion Craine (Janet Leigh), who was on the run after stealing $40,000, and shy motel proprietor Norman Bates (Perkins) and its aftermath, in which private investigator Milton Arbogast (Martin Balsam), Marion's lover Sam Loomis (John Gavin) and her sister Lila (Vera Miles) investigate her disappearance. Marvel has released a collection of new still from The Fantastic Four: First Steps , and they feature Silver Surfer, the Human Torch in fiery flight mode, along with Reed and Sue. This movie is so close to bring released, and I've already got my tickets to see it! As a fan of The Fantastic Four, I'm excited to see what Marvel's plans are for them. I can't wait to see how the story for this film turns out, and I hope that it's the great movie that we all hope it will be.
