Home Office to share data on asylum hotel locations with food delivery firms
A new agreement with Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats will see information about high-risk areas shared to help them uncover abuse on their platforms and quickly suspend accounts.
Currently delivery riders discovered to be sharing their accounts with asylum seekers have their profiles suspended.
The latest measures hope to crack down further on the practice.
The gig economy firms have also been increasing real-time identity and right to work checks which has led to thousands of workers being taken off the platforms, the Home Office said.

Shadow home secretary Chris Philp claimed last month to have found evidence of people working illegally for the food delivery firms during a visit to a hotel used to house asylum seekers.
Asylum seekers in the UK are normally barred from work while their claim is being processed, though permission can be applied for after a year of waiting.
Delivery firms met Home Office bosses earlier this month to discuss the concerns of abuse in the sector.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: 'Illegal working undermines honest business, exploits vulnerable individuals and fuels organised immigration crime.
'By enhancing our data sharing with delivery companies, we are taking decisive action to close loopholes and increase enforcement.
'The changes come alongside a 50% increase in raids and arrests for illegal working under the Plan for Change, greater security measures and tough new legislation.'

The three delivery companies said they were fully committed to working with the Home Office and combatting illegal working.
Ministers promised a 'nationwide blitz' to target migrants working illegally as part of efforts to deter people from coming to the UK from France.
Officials hope to tackle the 'pull factors' attracting migrants to the UK alongside the deal struck by Sir Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron earlier this month to send some people who reach England in small boats back to France.
More than 23,500 migrants have arrived in the UK after crossing the English Channel so far in 2025, a record for this point in the year.

Man, 21, taken to hospital after shooting in Southwark A 21-year-old man is in hospital after a shooting on a residential road in Southwark. The incident reportedly happened in Chandler Way just after 2.30am on July 30. Officers attended the scene where the man had been shot. He remains in hospital where his injuries have been assessed as non-life-threatening. Enquiries are ongoing. Man, 47, in hospital after Mayfair stabbing A 47-year-old man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing near a luxury hotel in Mayfair. The incident happened in Brook's Mews near Claridge's hotel at 7.55am on July 31. Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man who had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition was assessed as non life threatening. No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue. Man, 19, fighting for his life after Kilburn stabbing A 19-year-old man is fighting for his life after a stabbing on Kilburn High Road. The incident happened at the junction of Messina Avenue at 3.10pm on July 31. Emergency services attended and man was found who had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as life-threatening.

JLR CEO Suddenly Retires Ahead of Jaguar's Big Relaunch
Adrian Mardell, the man who turned Jaguar Land Rover into, simply, JLR, and put in place a strategy to market Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery as their own brands is retiring. Autocar reported Thursday that Mardell is stepping away after two years on the job , and JLR hasn't yet announced a successor. Mardell joined JLR in 1990 and became chief financial officer of the company in 2018. He took over the top job after his predecessor, Thierry Bolloré, resigned in 2023. As Autocar points out, Mardell helped JLR become profitable after a few rough years during the Covid-19 pandemic, but his departure comes at a critical time for the company. Jaguar unveiled a rebrand as a high-end EV maker last year with a campaign that was widely mocked. The brand has also stopped production of all previous models in anticipation of a new $100,000-plus electric cars that will arrive into a market that seems to be rejecting luxury EVs. Jaguar is moving into a bold new direction, and it's future is anything but certain. Things are better over at Land Rover thanks to the continued success and profitability of Range Rover and Defender models. But, Range Rover is set to launch its first EV , and it's already been delayed until next year over apparently weak demand. There's also tariffs to contend with. The US has 10-percent duty on the first 100,000 UK cars exported to the US in any given year, which is lower than the duties on cars from any other country. But, the Defender and Discovery are built in Slovakia, which is subject to a 15-percent tariff. In some ways, Mardell leaves JLR better than he found it. But, it faces many of the same challenges all automakers face right now and its own unique set of uncertainties. Mardell's successor will be very busy. Man rushed to hospital after stabbing near Claridge's Hotel in Mayfair
A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Mayfair near Claridge's Hotel this morning (Thursday, July 31). Police have reassured the public they are work at a "fast-pace" to catch the person responsible. The 47-year-old man was found with stab wounds on Brook's Mews, not far from Claridge's, at around 7.55am. No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident. His injuries are believed to be neither life-threatening nor life-changing. A crime scene remains in place at the scene. 'A man aged 47 was treated by the London Ambulance Service for stab wounds and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. 'An investigation has been launched and a crime scene is currently in place. There have been no arrests at this stage. 'We'd like to reassure the public that officers are carrying out a fast-paced and thorough investigation, and would encourage anyone with information to get in touch.'
