NEW YORK LUSTRE (R8 No.8): New York Lustre showed she is up to Group 3 standard when runner-up in the Monash Stakes, beating some of her rivals who are here in the Bletchingly Stakes, and she will improve off that run second-up after no public trials or jumpouts.

SHADHAVAR (R6 No.6): Shadhavar gassed out late first-up to finish fifth after she was ridden forward in a fast race. That was the first time the filly went unplaced at the 1100m but she will be fitter here over the same trip.

SASSY BOOM (R9 No.7): Sassy Boom is having her third run at 1400m after placing in her past two in the Leilani Series Final and a BM90. Looks ready to win now fourth-up dropping back to a BM84 and with Melbourne title leader Blake Shinn riding.

SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'We have to start thinking seriously about the race now,' Dunn said. 'Horses can go from Highway races to The Kosciuszko but they need to win like she did. 'I did something similar with a horse called Derry Grove. He won two Highways before running in The Kosciuszko. 'I've got a bit more time up my sleeve with this horse, so I'll go home and plot a path. 'She's a good candidate.' Without Parallel was sent out the $2.45 favourite and gave her backers a painless watch, dominating from the front before surging clear in the straight to win by an ever widening 4¾ lengths from Via Vegas ($18) with Cougars ($8) a half-head back in third. The victory was the perfect start to the new season for apprentice Anna Roper, who was having her first ride for Dunn and provided the prolific trainer with his 41st Highway winner. 'It's a really impressive effort,' Roper said. 'She added another string to her bow today with the wet track and in Sydney grade. Dunn said the daughter of former Kiwi-based shuttle stallion Time Test still has plenty of scope to continue her progression through the grades. 'The way she did that was no surprise to me,' he said. 'The only question I had was if she was going to get through the heavy ground and she's ticked that box now. 'I was hopefully she's handle it because she's that right shape. She's a speed horse that's nimble and athletic. 'If today was a dry track I'd have expected her to do that to them. I hold her in good regard. • Crossbow aims higher after maiden win at Flemington 'Today was another positive. 'She handles firm, good, soft and heavy, she can make the pace or come off speed. 'A real little runner. She's an intelligent little racehorse that just does it.' Roper heads into 2025/26 after the best return of her short career, riding 77 winners during last season with 23.5 metropolitan winners to finish third in the Sydney apprentices' premiership. 'That was my first ride for Matt so it was good to get the job done like that for him,' Roper said. 'I'd really like to get to 100 winners this season shore up my place riding in town so it was good to get off to a fast start like that. 'Last season I missed the first few months through injury so this year to plan is to try to get to 100. 'I really want to work on my consistency too this season in town on a week-to-week basis. 'I've been very lucky with the support I've received from some big stables like Ciaron's. He's been so supportive to my career.' Zou Sensation set for Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes after third straight win at Flemington
Zou Sensation will be aimed at the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) next month at Caulfield after a third straight win. The in-form Zoustar gelding, trained by Leon and Troy Corstens and Will Larkin, raced keenly early and through the middle stages but maintained a strong gallop under 'passenger' Jamie Melham. Melham rolled forward from barrier 10, hopeful of being able to settle nicely, but Zou Sensation had other ideas. It mattered not at the finish though for the stable, jockey and connections as Zou Sensation held off Running By and Fortunate Kiss. 'I was an absolute passenger then,' Melham said. 'From the wide draw I thought that might happen, I wanted to let him bounce and be where he was but the second we landed he was just in too much of a good mood. 'For him to win like that is very impressive. The team has got this horse absolutely peaking. 'He's run so well, I just wish he would control himself early because he'd be next level this horse, anyway, he's winning so we're happy.' 'He's such an arrogant horse, he was always going to win and when they got to him and he pinned his ears back,' Melham said. 'He wasn't going to let them pass him. He's just an arrogant horse, he knows he's good.' Larkin said Zou Sensation warranted Sir Rupert Clarke consideration. 'He's definitely a horse starting to put his hand up as someone who could probably go to the Rupert Clarke,' Larkin said. 'We'll look at that and how he gets there we'll work it out.' Larkin said Zou Sensation would appreciate racing in the better grades where the tempo is faster. 'He's definitely a better horse when he's chasing and allowed to get cover,' Larkin said. 'In those better races there's going to be better tempo and he's going to be allowed to do that.'
