Luke Littler raring to go and confident of success at Australian Darts Masters
He was runner-up to Gerwyn Price at this event last year and is confident of going one better this time around.

'I've been here a few days now, so I've settled in but once Friday night comes, we're in the venue and the crowd are pumping, it will definitely get me up for it,' he said ahead of the tournament in Wollongong.
'Once you are runner-up you want to come back the next year and win it. It's a long time but now we are here and coming off the back of the Matchplay win, I am feeling very confident and up for the task.
'I got tested in Blackpool and I definitely made a good 10 days of it. Happy to come out with the win and claim the Triple Crown but now we're Down Under, it's a different competition and a different mindset.'
Littler will open his campaign against New Zealand's Haupai Puha as eight PDC stars take on Oceanic players.
World number one Luke Humphries is up against Jonny Tata while defending champion Price takes on Joe Comito.
Josh Rock, a beaten semi-finalist in Blackpool, makes his World Series debut and has a tough opener against home favourite Simon Whitlock.

Rock has taken his game to new levels this year, including a World Cup win with fellow Northern Irishman Daryl Gurney in June, but he says does not yet class himself as one of the game's elite players.
'Not just yet,' he said 'The Premier League is the aim for next year if not then the year after, then I'll class myself as an elite player.
'My game has been in a very good place all year, if I keep playing well I can see myself going up higher in the ratings.
'It will obviously be fantastic to win, if you're going to put your name on the World Series why not do it at the first try?'

Sky Sports now 66p a day with 2025/26 Premier League season just days away
The 2025/26 Premier League season is just days away and football fans can get Sky Sports for 66p per day. The new campaign is set to kick off on Friday, August 15, with title holders Liverpool taking on Bournemouth at Anfield. Among the other must-see matches in the opening weekend are Wolves vs Man City, Chelsea vs Crystal Palace and Man United vs Arsenal. Each of these games will be shown exclusively on Sky Sports as the broadcaster increases its Premier League coverage from 128 matches to at least 215 starting this season. Sky claims this covers 80% of all televised Premier League matches. To catch all these fixtures – plus more than 1,000 live games across the EFL, SPFL, WSL and Bundesliga – footie fans need to secure a Sky Sports subscription, which is priced at £20 per month in an introductory offer. This works out at roughly 66p per day over a 30-day period and grants access to nine Sky Sports channels including Main Event, Premier League, Football, F1, Golf and Tennis. It also includes the newly launched Sky Sports+ channel at no additional cost, which provides live streams of more than 1,000 live EFL games, every Carabao Cup fixture and every match from the men's Rugby Super League, reports the Mirror. The only catch is that those without an existing Sky package will need to pair Sky Sports with a TV and Netflix plan. However, these combined plans were revamped last year and now start at £35 for Essential TV and Sky Sports. This package includes more than 100 regular TV channels such as Sky Atlantic, along with free Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions. For an additional £20, customers can also add TNT Sports to their package, a much cheaper option than the £30.99 it costs to subscribe directly through Discovery+ Premium, allowing them to enjoy next season's European competitions. This offer comes as Virgin Media launches its rival Summer of Sports sale, which provides substantial discounts across its own Sky Sports packages until September 2. These start with the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports, which includes more than 200 TV channels, eight of which are from Sky Sports such as Main Event, Football and F1. The package also includes 516Mbps fibre broadband, all of which has been reduced from £65.99 to £54.99 – a saving of £264. However, a drawback to both Sky and Virgin's plans is that customers will experience at least two bill increases during their 24-month term as each provider raises their prices every April. This year, Sky introduced a 6.2% increase for its TV customers but has yet to confirm next year's change. Virgin has already confirmed that the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports will rise to £58.49 from April 2026 and £61.99 from April 2027. What sets Sky apart from its competitors is the opportunity to cancel a contract after a price rise is announced, an option not offered by Virgin.

Newcastle captain had to apologise for comment after striker's record Liverpool transfer
Andy Carroll infamously parted ways with Newcastle to join Liverpool in 2011 in a then club-record £35million move, and their fans were far from happy with Kevin Nolan's response Kevin Nolan was forced to apologise to Newcastle United fans when Andy Carroll left Tyneside to join Liverpool. The 6'4" striker made a name for himself with his boyhood club before securing a move to Merseyside in January 2011. The transfer, which was for a club-record fee of around £35million at the time for Liverpool, was met with rejoice by fans of the Reds, while Newcastle fans were understandably upset to see their main man leave the north east. And Nolan inadvertently rubbed salt in the wounds of Geordies at the time by claiming that Carroll was joining a "great" club. The Newcastle captain said: "Well, Liverpool is a great club. I've not taken anything away from how great this club is, I've just said Liverpool is a great club with the history it has got and everything. "It's a great move for Andy and no one can deny that but I want to be playing for Newcastle. If fans don't like it I apologise. It was never meant to affect them. But Liverpool is a great club and everyone knows that." The outlook on Tyneside only worsened for Newcastle fans when their other striker, Shola Ameobi, picked up a cheekbone fracture which left him sidelined, while doubts emerging with regards to the suitability of alternatives Leon Best, Peter Lovenkrands and Nile Ranger at Premier League level. Carroll's departure ultimately didn't cause that big of a dent in Newcastle's prospects for the season, however, with the Magpies securing a respectable 12th-place finish in the Premier League before recruiting to replace the striker in the summer, bringing in the likes of Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba. Meanwhile, Carroll's tenure at Anfield was brief, scoring just 11 goals in 58 games for the Reds before he was sold on to West Ham United in the summer of 2013. Fast forward to 2025, and Carroll has enjoyed a second stint with Newcastle, played for the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Reading, Amiens and Bordeaux, and is currently representing Dagenham and Redbridge. It comes as the Toon Army may see history repeating itself in losing a valuable striker this summer, with Alexander Isak looking to explore his options away from the club. The Sweden international, who has racked up 62 goals and 11 assists for the Magpies since joining from Real Sociedad in 2022, has expressed his interest in leaving St James' Park this summer. While Newcastle have slapped a huge, British transfer record price tag on their talisman, that hasn't prevented big spenders Liverpool in attempting to lure him to Anfield ahead of the new Premier League season. The Reds officially submitted an opening offer of around £110m, only to see it swiftly rebuffed by Newcastle, who value Isak at nearer the £150m mark. As a result of his future in the north east looking shaky at present, given he failed to join Newcastle on their recent pre-season tour of Asia, the club have been set on finding reinforcements in the striking department, only to come up trumps thus far. Newcastle initially registered an interest in Hugo Ekitike, only for Liverpool to secure the Eintracht Frankfurt talisman in a move potentially totalling £79m, while it also looks as though the club have lost their recent tug of war with Manchester United over RB Leipzig sensation Benjamin Sesko who completed a medical in the north west on Friday. With William Osula sitting as the club's only other centre-forward outside of Isak, given Joelinton has transitioned into a midfield role, Newcastle will be desperate to recruit more firepower regardless of whether Isak is allowed to leave this summer. Although with strikers high in demand at present, and a lack of proven options available, it could be a case of searching far and wide for the Magpies.
