China's humanoid robots designed to assist, not replace, human workers, says official
"We don't believe robots will make people unemployed, but rather they'll boost efficiency or take on tasks humans are unwilling to do - like exploring the vast universe or the ocean depths where people can't go. Machines can assist us in that exploration," Liang told Reuters.
The human robot collaboration
To illustrate this vision, Beijing recently hosted the world's first
robot half-marathon
, where humanoid robots competed separately from human runners. The event was designed to showcase how robots can complement human efforts rather than replace them.

The competition featured Tiangong Ultra, a humanoid robot developed by X-Humanoid, a state-backed robotics innovation center. The robot demonstrated advanced mobility, reaching speeds of 12 km/h, reinforcing China's commitment to developing adaptive and efficient robotic systems.
Beyond sports, China's humanoid robots are being developed to handle repetitive and physically demanding tasks. Demonstrations at the robotics center showed robots successfully adapting to changing environments and human interference, a key capability for future workplace integration.
As per Reuters report, Liang reiterated that China's approach to robotics is not about replacing human labor but about creating a future where machines and humans work together.
As China continues to invest heavily in AI and robotics, the government's stance on
human-robot collaboration
will be crucial in shaping public perception and industry adoption.

NZP to set up India's first biosafety level-3 lab for animal disease detection
Hyderabad: The Nehru Zoological Park (NZP) intends to set up a biosafety level-3 (BSL-3) lab on its premises soon, officials from the zoo said. A BSL-3 lab is a disease-detecting facility used to identify zoonotic diseases in animals and prevent their spread to human beings and vice versa. Once operational, it will help the zoo conduct everyday testing of the animals, help control the spread of viral infections, and also prepare for long-term disease management. "We have seen what COVID-19, a zoonotic disease that was transmitted from bats, could do to the human population. With the lab in place, we can constantly monitor the health of the animals and any potential viruses they may be carrying. Moreover, in a zoo like ours, where animal-human interaction is high, it becomes even more important to set up this lab to safeguard our visitors," said Sunil S Hiremath, the director of NZP. Presently, the zoo has a veterinary hospital that it uses to treat its animals for medical conditions and an in-house lab, where the zoo uses faecal and blood sample analysis for primary disease diagnosis like salmonellosis, gastrointestinal issues like acute or chronic gastroenteritis, and conditions like tuberculosis. It relies on institutes like the veterinary biological research institute (VBRI) and the PV Narasimha Rao Telangana veterinary university for lab diagnosis of secondary diseases like parasitical, bacterial, and viral infections, according to biologists and veterinary doctors working in the zoo. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Currently, the zoo is in the process of drafting a proposal to the central govt to get the necessary approvals. Once the project is approved, it will be launched as a govt of India project, officials said. "My team and I are in the process of finalising the details for the lab. Once that is done, we should have a clearer picture of how much the lab is going to cost us and how much space it will take," the director said. "We have the necessary manpower to run it successfully too. We have so many qualified scientists in the zoo, and the city is home to a number of reputed veterinary institutes and colleges like the VBRI and the Veterinary University in Rajendranagar, with whom we'll collaborate," the director added. If the project goes through, NZP will become the first zoo in the country to have a BSL-3 lab. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). IAF Heritage Museum loses altitude as visitor inflow dips
Chandigarh: The initial burst of enthusiasm about the Indian Air Force Heritage Museum in the Tricity seems to be waning. The dedicated Air Force heritage centre launched by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh with much fanfare in May, 2023, has suffered a significant dip in footfall since its inception. Its expansion plan has also remained restricted to paper for over one year. "Initially, Indian Air Force and Chandigarh administration were in talks to expand the IAF Heritage Museum to start its second phase. Preparation of an MoU was discussed and both parties prepared points for the same. However, there has been no progress for more than one year," sources in the Chandigarh administration revealed. Despite the tourist centre boasting of modern paraphernalia like virtual and augmented reality, holograms, simulators, and electromechanical enclosures, the flow of visitors has gone down. Sources in the administration said that visitors from the Tricity thronged the IAF Heritage Museum initially but the inflow started thinning down. Now, most of the visitors are people from outside the Tricity. As per records of the Chandigarh administration, 58,273 people visited the Air Force Museum in the eight months from its inception on May 8, 2023 to December, 2023. From January, 2024 to December, 2024, the number of visitors at the museum located in the heritage building of the city in Sector 18, fell to 48,712. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? According to records, Chandigarh administration earned significant revenue from the IAF Heritage Museum. From its launch in May 2023 to the end of July 2025, the authority earned over Rs 1.1 crore, including both entry fee of visitors as well as immersive experiences. Sunjay Kapur's sister Mandhira Kapur slams 'harsh' treatment of her 80-year-old mother after brother's death, calls move into Priya Sachdev Kapur's Delhi home ‘impractical'
Mandhira Kapur, sister of late Sona Comstar chairman Sunjay J Kapur, has hit out strongly at those sidelining her family in the wake of his sudden demise. In an emotional statement, she vowed to stand firmly by her 80-year-old mother, Rani Kapur, as they fight to keep the family's inheritance from being taken away. Sunjay Kapur's sudden passing Sunjay Kapur, who headed the Rs 30,000-crore mobility tech giant, collapsed while playing polo in London on June 12. The autopsy revealed cardiac arrest as the cause of death. Initial reports had speculated about a bee sting causing complications, adding to the family's shock and confusion. Cease-and-desist dispute with Rani Kapur Soon after, Sona Comstar sent a cease-and-desist notice to Rani Kapur. She alleged that she had been coerced into signing documents endorsing her daughter-in-law, Priya Sachdev Kapur, as a non-executive director of the company. The company, however, claimed that Rani Kapur had not held shares since 2019. Mandhira Kapur called the move 'harsh' and said her mother, who built the company with her late husband, deserved respect. 'She's 80. How about just respecting the fact that her husband and she made this? Today you're telling this 80-year-old woman who's lost everything that she has nothing to do with this company? Is that fair?' She told NDTV. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? She admitted they too were 'finding out' details about trusts and shareholdings only through the media and well-wishers. On suggestions that her mother move into Priya Sachdev Kapur's Delhi home, Mandhira said it was 'impractical' at present: 'It is very tough for mum to even go back to that house. She is not emotionally ready to face the fact that she has lost her son.'
