BMW Group's First Quarter Earnings Show EV Sales Are Booming
BMW earnings often bring mixed results, but not this year. In the first three months of 2025, BMW reports that sales of electric vehicles are up 26.4 percent, and overall sales are up 3.7 percent. MINI is also up 9.5 percent.
These numbers are for Q1 2025, and the percentage gains are calculated by comparing sales to the first quarter of 2024. The numbers are striking for a few reasons, not least that the first quarter is often a slow time for the auto industry and the economy in general. As people recover from holiday shopping, large purchases often take a backseat. Maybe people didn't get the BMW i4 M50 they expected to see under the tree last Christmas.
Buoyed by i4 sales, BMW sold 13,538 electrified cars in Q1 2025 compared to 9,713 sold in the first quarter of last year. The i5, a relatively recent addition to BMW's stable of EVs, sold 1,899 units this year. The i4, a punchy little four-door sedan best experienced in an M variant, sold 7,125 cars, leading all EV sales for BMW by a wide margin. The iX, BMW's first foray into electrified SUVs, sold 3,626 units, while the luxurious and stately i7 found 888 new owners.
Though BMW sold more EVs this year, not all vehicles sold better. i5 sales dipped 15.2 percent (BMW sold 239 i5s in Q1 2024) and the i7 fell 10.4 percent (991 sold in Q1 2024). For the i7, this isn't alarming, as the current version is a bit long in the tooth, and the market for a six-figure electrified sedan is small anyway. The fact that i5 sales are down may hint at waning interest, though.
The iX sold 23.1 percent better in 2025, and the i4 is selling 57 percent better this year. The 4 Series has always been a sleeper hit for BMW, and the i4 suggests buyers are interested in smaller, sportier EVs. Last year, the i4 accounted for half of all 4 Series sales in the US.
MINI's big success in 2025 is driven by bigger vehicles. BMW didn't break down MINI sales figures by model, but it did say that the brand sold 6,976 vehicles so far this year compared to 6,369 in the first quarter of 2024, which equates to a 9.5 percent uptick.
The new MINI Countryman, a small SUV that's massive by MINI standards, has reached dealerships and is contributing to sales. It's the largest MINI to date and undoubtedly garners attention from small SUV buyers who want something fun without sacrificing quality. The Cooper, a return to MINI's heart and soul of small, sporty two-door cars, is also available in dealerships.
The elephant in the room is that BMW has yet to electrify its core SUVs in the United States. When-not if-that happens, expect sales of BMW EVs to skyrocket. If BMW times vehicle launches properly and can find enough lithium to electrify its cars en masse, we could be reporting on 100 percent or more growth in BMW EV sales in 2026 when its next-gen battery and Neue Klasse vehicle platforms are ready to roll (pun intended).

BMW Charity Pro-Am raises over $16 million for S.C. charities
GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — At the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament, their mission is all about giving back to local charities. For 25 years, the BMW Charity Pro-Am has been in 'full swing,' bringing a fun tournament to the Upstate while raising money for charities across the state. 'Oh, they love it,' Jeff Morris, Executive Director of Folds of Honor for the Palmetto State also said. 'They are calling me as soon as we are finished,' Chrystal Assadzandi, Charity and Volunteer Coordinator for the BMW Charity Pro-Am, said. 'I get a lot of calls saying 'how can we participate? How can we be a part?'' In 2001, the tournament was created to showcase the beauty of the South Carolina Upstate, while bringing locals, celebrities, and professional golfers together. It's aimed to raise money and awareness for South Carolina charities. One of those charities that has been impacted is Folds of Honor. 'I have had many veterans come up to me and they are so grateful to have the opportunity to come watch a golf tournament, come into the hospitality suite, interact with other veterans,' Morris said. 'It is amazing when you hear them, and they just go in there and they swap stories.' Morris said since Folds of Honor's involvement with the BMW Charity Pro-Am began in 2018, their group has been awarded around $250,000. The charity offers educational scholarships to the children and spouses of military and first responders. Funding for Folds of Honor, along with the more than 50 charities involved in this year's tournament, is raised in many ways, including through donations, ticket sales, and volunteer programs. BMW leaders said hundreds of charities have been impacted through this tournament over the past 25 years, and the money raised for them has not slowed down. 'We have given back in the past 25 years over $16 million to charities right here in the Upstate,' Assadzandi said. The BMW Charity Pro-Am will run through Sunday, June 8. For the final two days of the tournament, it's being held at the Thornblade Club in Greenville. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Confused by latest order? How to calculate if your Jackson County assessment is within limits
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jackson County assessments are showing up in homeowner's mailboxes. Some people may be surprised at the increase after a May order from the State Tax Commission. Some taxpayers may receive tax refunds in June: When payments could arrive That order capped increases in each assessment period at 15% and set 2022 as a starting point for this year's assessments after 2023 assessments were heavily contested. But determining your maximum 2025 assessment is a little bit more complicated than a single multiplication or division. Legislator Sean Smith and Preston Smith (no relation) have been helping homeowners with appeals since assessments skyrocketed in 2023. This week as they went out again they've been getting questions about what the latest State Tax Commission Order and 15% cap really means. 'People look at it and the first thing they see is, I thought it was only going to be a 15% increase and that was the perception. I've probably answered it online 100 times,' Preston Smith said. 'A lot of people are contacting me thinking they only do the 15 percent once, but you have to do it twice,' Legislator Sean Smith explained. To illustrate how it works with the latest rules using 2022 assessments as the starting point, consider a home with a $100,000 assessed value in 2022. To calculate the maximum assessed value in 2023 multiply $100,000 by 1.15 which is $115,000. But then you have to multiply by 115% again to determine the maximum value a home could be assessed at this year. In this example it would be $132,250. The two 15% increases end up yielding a maximum increase of 32.25% during the two assessment periods. 'I would really urge people to do the math themselves to check it, check and really verify,' Preston Smith said. To do that, however, you have to know your home's 2022 assessed value, which according to those who have received this year's assessments, isn't on this year's notices. You can find that historical information online at the Jackson County Parcel Viewer or Ascend Web. If your increase ends up beyond the allowances under the State order or if you simply don't agree with your value, you still can appeal. Appeals have to be filed by July 14. Download WDAF+ for Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV As for seniors, 40,000 are already enrolled in a new tax credit program freezing tax bills. The county says estimated savings are included on notices, but are subject to change. Both Sean and Preston Smith say they are pressing the Assessor's Office for complete assessment data in 2022, 2023 and 2025 to see how much home values increased, and how many of those increases equated to the maximum allowed if no new construction was done under the State Tax Commission Order without a physical inspection. H.C. Wainwright Reiterates Buy Rating on Immix Biopharma (IMMX) Following Promising Interim Results from NXC-201 Trial
On June 4, analyst Robert Burns of H.C. Wainwright reiterated a Buy rating on Immix Biopharma, Inc. (NASDAQ:IMMX) with a price target of $7.00. The analyst based the rating on the promising interim results from the NEXICART-2 Phase 1/2 clinical trial of NXC-201, presented at the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting (ASCO 2025) in Chicago, Illinois. The trial assessed the efficacy of NXC-201 in patients with relapsed/refractory AL amyloidosis and delivered a 100% response rate, with a considerable portion attaining a complete hematologic response. The analyst reasoned that the absence of hematologic relapse or progression and the rapid mean time to response further highlight NXC-201's potential as a viable treatment. A doctor in a white coat discussing clinical trial results with a patient in an oncology practice. Burns also reasoned that NXC-201 appears to have a favorable safety profile, as no patients experienced severe cytokine release syndrome or neurotoxicity. While he highlighted the need for longer-term follow-up and the small sample size, the analyst stated that the interim results are promising when compared to existing treatments. This condition does not have FDA-approved agents, and there exists a fragmented treatment landscape post-frontline therapy, factors that suggest the notable market opportunity for NXC-201 and support the buy rating for Immix Biopharma, Inc.
